Elfert's design is rather ghastly in my opinion. Although it depends on her personality whether she can get away with it or not. (So like, as long as she doesn't act all cutesy. Unless she does act 'cute' but it's a ruse and she's evil or something.)
I'm hoping there's more than 16 characters, if not I might wait for a revision...

Fighting games pretty much always have that one character who's the main villain. Ramlethal has already been shown to have switched sides in their latest batch of story mode screenshots so there's still room for one. None of the characters you mentioned have anything to do with the main conflict presented so far in terms of actually causing it/being behind it.
As for El, she looks pretty Guilty Gear. Has the spiky/belt pieces on her clothing and has the appropriate rock references to match (Guns n Roses). I suppose you could say she doesn't look like one if you ignore the existence of characters like Bridget.
It's not that there's no precedent for a character like this. It's that we have three characters to work off of when we're trying to see what direction arcsys is taking Xrd in the long run. I'm cool with Ramlethal, but Bedman and Elfert don't paint a promising picture for the future

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I think all of the new characters so far look pretty interesting and can't wait to try them out for myself.

Ah right! Where do you get your Xrd story mode translations from? (Unless you speak Japanese.) Google, Tumblr and the wiki have failed me.
Edit: Never mind, I think I just found some Youtube videos that didn't mention they were translated. Will have to watch them when I have time.

Looks like she's the Terumi of Guilty Gear than since he was the same as her in regards to day 1 = free..
Now I wonder who's going to be the Kokonoe of Xrd... true dlc and truly broken...

Ah Kokonoe was free with pre-order and Terumi is the paid one. At least on PSN for the north american release anyway.

I can read hiragana/katakana and some words. Far from fluent, but it's enough to piece some things together at times. There are a bunch of arcade mode translations floating around on youtube/vimeo.
Ramlethal states herself in arcade mode that she's just a pawn to make sure the big bomb goes off and has no worth otherwise. That was the first red flag for her going over to the "good guy" side. Then there's this which confirms it. The 4gamer article states that the story mode takes place after the arcade mode (had to use translate for that one but it was legible enough).
They still need a central adversary to frame the conflict around. Using an old character, especially one that seems to not be involved in the Senate's plans so far doesn't seem appropriate to me (talking about I-No here since she was mentioned before). I think Bedman is employed by the Senate IIRC but he isn't main villain material imo.
Still plenty of time for them to make more reveals so we'll find out eventually.

I'd rather them develop new characters than spend then first 3 iterations just recreating XX.
And the game doesn't need to be sf4 bloated.
Some people are just gonna get cut. Sucks but at least it's not as severe at sf3

I really don't understand why people bitch that something Anime looks like Anime? If the game is good you should be fucking playing it instead of trying to act like you're too good to play a good game simply because you'd prefer it to look more western.
Its a japanese fighting game your playing here folks. No matter how metal it is, no matter what persona you want to have for yourself and try to impose as how you brand your self image, and no matter how much you try to bitch about anime because you think anyone really gives two shits about what you fucking like or not ...this game is rooted in anime even if its stylized. Quit whining when character designs appear in it that fit its aesthetic and country of major interest.

I'll need to get a better look at this new character first, along with actual gameplay (still preferable to Sin, though).
Extremely easy to make a JP account regardless of your fluency.
DLC on a JP account stays on a JP account and I believe that if you already have a JP account, you're good to go for the PS4. Just log in.
The stores for each region are separate and if you want to access your DLC, you'll need to log onto your JP account when you boot up your JP copy.

As a Jam main, I'm eagerly waiting for her to come out.
Regardless, from what I've tried of GGXrd, Millia and Faust are REALLY fun to use and they're quite good as well. Those two will make do until Jam comes back.
