how is this a bad drawing

While I don't think it's a particularly flattering image, I never said that was good or bad, I was just using it as a reaction image. The fact that it was done by Pulido just makes it relevant to this discussion!

Pulido is very inconsistent with the book is all I'm trying to say. Like GrandHarrier just highlighted, he doesn't even have a consistent facial structure for Jen.

If Chris Sims' review of God Hates Astronauts #1 doesn't sell you on at least trying it, I don't know what will. (Comics Alliance)

There’s never a page of this book where you doubt that Browne (along with colorist Jordan Boyd and letterer Chris Crank) are completely, thoroughly committed to what they’re doing, putting every ounce of effort that they have into telling the best damn story they can about a cosmically powered superhero with the ghost of a cow for a head and his army of gun-toting bears fighting hillbilly spaceships. And that makes it hilarious.

Well maybe we are saying something to you without saying it, bro. Maybe we're saying the evolution needs to continue, rather than revert.

We could please everyone if we took the She-Hulk art and added pouches and fuckin lines everywhere. And some grimacing. And textured colouring, because that's good art.

Is there a She-Hulk art fight going on without me?

If you want to please the other crowd we could get my five year old nephew to make some first time some MS paint artwork and call it indie. I'm sure that'd be worth a few 10 out of 10s. Can't get much further from house style than that and I can guarantee you that there would be nary a symmetrical pair of eyes to be seen.

We were keeping it fairly mellow waiting for you.

Ha, glad you liked it. There was some furious editing going on there.

I actually love making little changes to this avatar. Looking forward to Halloween costuming it.

I look forward to it!

Wow, as a european the whole (Southern Bastards spoiler)
importance of the black daughter thing kinda escaped me at first. Thanks for pointing it out
.

God Hates Astronauts was great. This first issue is already infinitely quotable. My comic of the week for sure.

Chances are it might have some creativity and imagination as well. Crack the whip, I need 20 pages by Tuesday!

I want to get excited but Gail Simone fell off.

We'll see.

However you guys may have felt about her Batgirl run (if this what this is in reference to) I really feel that her Red Sonja run has been really enjoyable. Mind you, this is someone who had no prior experience to Red Sonja before hand, outside of the cultural osmosis one gets about such things.

Simone's been struggling since Birds of Prey volume 2 really. I read 2 issues of her Red Sonja and wasn't interested enough to continue

Anyone read Death of Wolverine?
I liked it,, art is good. Just sucked it was way short (especially for $5)
I'll check out #2. This story 5/6 issues ?

It becomes increasingly difficult to take art conversations seriously, to me, because I've noticed a growing trend where some people who are so against house style will latch onto and love anything that isn't house style. You could point out the flaws, inconsistencies, explain why it is bad, but it just doesn't matter. One can look at art and be like, yep, Person X will like this not because it's good but because it's different. It can be bad different but it's still good simply because it's different.

A good example was that terrible Batman Eternal art a few issues back. You could post pictures of horrifically deformed faces with disturbing eyes and gaping mouths from the depths of hell, but it was like, you just don't get it. It's European and Indie and shits on everything else.

Everything I just said applies also to people like me, who like clean linework, who are instantly turned off by certain art.

Keep fighting the good fight and maybe some of those jerks will stop being Dedicated To Hipsterism against all reason.

That's cool. I just adore Walter Geovani's pleasant line work. He captures action in a very elegant fashion. The cover artists that they've gotten are beyond breath taking. I've especially enjoyed this last arc's story, however.

I think Simone is one of the few writers that has a really good handle on who Sonja is. I dropped it not due to a lack of quality, but because I was trying to cut down my pull list, and I was getting a bit tired of the swords & sorcery type stuff for the time being. Simone did a great job on Sonja while I was reading it.

I think any decrease in quality in her DC work is due to the increasing interference from editorial. We all know she isn't a shitty writer when she's writing the book she wants to write.

And hey, GrandHarrier, don't try and act like you're not just being a straight-up DC fanboy. You know this is just a disguised complaint about Marvel. If Pulido was drawing Batman, you know you'd be loving it.

Oh my lord.

I. Am. dying

It's like some of y'all fellas just want Jason Fabok's boring ass to draw everything ever.
