PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

So IGN updated there Vita Top 25 list? Cool :D....but shame Gravity Rush still isn't on it X(.

I would love to see a Gaf Top 25 Vita List XD! You guys got me to get a number of games (Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 Portable, Maramsua, and Sword Art Online: Hallow Fragment and I love all those games :D), so I'm sure if Vita Gaf comes together, we can come up with a killer top 25 :).

For me, out of all the Vita games I own and played, here are my top 25 Vita games (in no order, just 25 games I really like on the system).

1) Persona 4 Golden
2) Sword Art Online: Hallow Fragment'
3) Tearaway
4) Killzone Mercenary
5) Gravity Rush
6) Uncharted Golden Abyss
7) Wipeout 2086 (sorry if I got this name wrong X()
8) Dragons Crown
9) Ys: Memories of Celceta
10) Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz
11) Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
12) Guacamelee!
13) Velocity 2X
14) Fez
15) TxK
16) Bit Trip Runner 2
17) Lone Survior
18) Hotline Miami
19) Splunky
20) Mutant Blobs Attack
21) Metrico
22) Thomas Was Alone
23) Soul Sacrfice
24) Dokruo
25) Zero Escape: Ventures Last Reward

The only reason the DR series, LBP Vita, and other Vita only games aren't on here are due to not playing or owning them yet.

I tried not to include ports of PS3/PS2 games (even though stuff like Sonic Racing Transformed, Mortal Kombat 9, and a few others are damn good ports on Vita), so that way the Vita exclusives can shine :D.

Indie games I felt didn't fully need to follow that rule (due to them launching the same day as the PS3/PS4 version and/or due to them feeling much more at home on Vita).

Edit: Top of the page :D! Everyone get DR 1 and 2 :). Most of Vita Gaf say this is a great series, so everyone should check it out :). I will too....but after clearing out much of my Vita backlog; just have too many games XD!

Sword Art Online: Hallow Fragment is good enough to hit their number 2 spot? Maybe I'll have to put that on my "to be bought" list. Might be a good holiday pick up if the price is right.

I clearly stated that my list had no particular order XD! That would be....very, very hard considering the amazing games the Vita has :).

I will say that I'm not wrong about its place though; I really love the game :). It has a ton of content for the asking price (40 bucks gives you 25 floors of Alicard to explore, a mammoth size land that is the Hallow Area AND a randomly generated 100+ floor multiplayer area (that you can ALSO play along too :D), the visuals/presentation is rock solid, it has even more content and fixes coming via late September patch and the gameplay is a lot of fun :).

If you can deal with an iffy English translation and don't mind watching the first half of S1 of the anime (which is very, very great :D! Loved watching that for 3-5 hours back to back XD!), then this is a great deal :).

Edit: That list is my top 25 :l. IGN's list is completely different then mine. Sorry for the confusion :(.

It was a really good case though, are you playing on Mean?

Yes. It's just that I didn't expect that, and now it really hits me mentally.

Shinobi hinting new Gravity Rush at TGS!
and not on Vita

Didn't one of their twitter previously stated that they're working on the new GR? I remember when people ask them if it's GR2 or if it's on the Vita, they avoided answering those question. Could be another side-story game for the PS4?

Now that I know I'll have to wait around 2 weeks for Danganronpa 2 I'm at a loss as to what to play next, fiddling with each game I have a little, but not commiting to one. I play Terraria regularly, but I need something else to cycle through. Right now I'm juggling with platinu-ing KZM and Wipeout 2048 and finally starting Rayman Origins (was one of the games I got with my Vita).

I remember reading a response on Twitter that basically amounted to "I'm working on a new Gravity Rush, but it's not exactly a sequel or a remake" and then together with the news of Tearaway Unfolded I took to mean something similar in scope if not a full blown sequel. Either way, my hopes for a Gravity Rush sequel on Vita are quite diminished.

Top 25 would be too big and the topic would get flooded with long strings of posts, so here is my top 5:

1- Persona 4 Golden
2- Danganronpa 2
3- Danganronpa 1
4- SAO: HF
5- Demon Gaze.

Honorable mentions: FFX HD, Disagea 4, Akiba's Trip, Ys Celceta.

I saw someone on reddit trying to make "Torn Away" happen for Tearaway on PS4 (Mean Girls et al), but I can't think of anything clever for Gravity Rush 2.

Yeah, I was just kidding, my creativity sucks.

An odd lack of racing games on that list. Wipeout 2048, NFS?

Dokuro is a little too high up on that list for my tastes, too, but to each their own.

I wanted to explore Tabata's thoughts on bringing Type-0 to Vita and PC. While porting it to the Vita seems more unlikely than the PC, he reiterated that they are only focused on the console version for now. At least Tabata acknowledged that the live demo was running on a PC. "First and foremost, with the Vita version, we wanted to quickly release the PS4 and Xbox One HD version overseas, so we really prioritized optimizing it for those platforms. In terms of the PC version, it’s still up for discussion. It is a possibility, but it’s up for discussion. And it's running it on the PC right now, so…"

Seeing all these top 5 made me want to do my own. I barely see any love for DJMAXTT on VitaGAF:

1. DJMAX Technika Tune
2. Gravity Rush
3. Persona 4 Golden
4. Wipeout 2048
5. Danganronpa 1

I'm torn, on the one hand it'd be a shame to see Sony taking GR away from the Vita, and would definitely signal how much they've given up on first party support for the system if even Japan Studio won't make games for it.

On the other hand, putting it on PS4 would open it to a potentially wider audience (and that art style realised on PS4 hardware is a drool worthy prospect).

Still I hope we get GR2 in some form at least, this silence since that teaser last year is worrying me.

you could say the gravtiy queen rushed away from vita
ohohoho

pls yosp, anything but that
i've got no issues with it being vita/ps4
but pls no ps4-only, not with this one

I'm at some point that I don't even care much for Sony's output on the Vita, except for helping translate or bring some things over here. The only game that I wanted for the Vita will never ever happen (GT), so I'm only despair now.

I'm in the same camp man; after this years Typo-0 and them ripping Tearaway from the Vita.....I just flat out stopped caring about Sony support for the Vita X(.

All I can say on Sony's Vita support is two things; the support they DID bring to Vita with there first party games form 2012-early 2014 was solid (Wipeout, Uncharted, Gravity Rush, LBP Vita, Sly 4/PSAS ports, Killzone, Tearaway, Soul Sacrifice + SS:Delta, Hot Shots Golf, Sly/Ratchet Collections) and Sony (largely SCEE) pushing Indies to Vita, spawning the indie wave that will never stop flowing on Vita :D!

....That's it :l. I honestly think the Vita is 'dead' in terms of Sony support now (outside of Freedom Wars and Oshioka coming this fall/early next year), so third parties and indies will fill Sony's void....and that is fine with me :D.

Now that Square is porting mobile games to Vita the chances of a DQVIII port are higher than 0 right?

Considering how FFX/X-2 Vita solid alongside Sqaure finally porting over some of there Mobile games to Vita (and they aren't shit games either; it is clear that Square tries with these games if the new Mana game is any indication), the chances of more mobile ports from them is possible.

If Chaos Rings Collection and the new Mana game ports sell well, then we will see for sure more SE support on Vita :D! ....I hope at least :l.

All I want is them to put the KH Collections on Vita.....the Vita really, really should be able to play Birth By Sleep at this point X(.

Yeah, for a while the support was good, then it just died. I'll keep mine as long as the screen survives and they keep sending translated japanese games.

As long as JP Publishers see the point of localizing Vita games to the west, then the support will continue :).

I mean, a digital only tittle (Sword Art Online: Hallow Fragment) solid almost 2,000 copies XD! For a digital, fully price game, that is very impressive to sell that much in only a few weeks time span (the game launched....I think 3+ weeks ago?).

That is a clear sign Vita owners WANT JP games, so at least for the next two or so years, then the Vita will be fine :).

sadly we all know it wont happen because no digital for KH allowed (until KH3)

Then that is just stupid X(! ....At least we can play the game via KH2.5 Collection this winter :).

Man, I've waited so long to play Birth By Sleep....being able to FINALLY play that this fall (heck, the best version of the game even :D!) is amazing :).

I would assume (And hope) that SAO:HF sold more than 2000 copies. That's just the number of reviews for the game on the US PSN store.

If you're going by ratings I'm pretty sure it's way over 2000 copies since most people probably don't bother to rate games on the store pages. More importantly though 2000 sales isn't a number to boast about in any medium. Doubt that would even cover localization costs if that's all it sold.

What abilities can you recommend for armor? Auto-haste, auto-protect, auto-phoenix, auto-potion?

Depends on what kind of challenges you wish to tackle.

Ribbon, for instance, is a good thing to have but the strongest bosses often have attacks that completely bypass it, but does not bypass abilities like Auto-Haste. In general though, Auto-haste and auto-protect are good, and the other two depend on what kind of monsters you're facing.

Pretty much. I don't think I've ever rated anything on PSN.

If it's only 2000, I would think they are preparing to shut down all localization for Vita already. You need at least 20 times that number to show them that Vita owners want and will buy their games.

you know, playstation allstars battle royale is not that bad, i mean, it isn't great, maybe not even good, but the internet made me believe it was an utter pile of unplayable garbage and it simply isn't.

the game has potential and instead of changing a few aspects just so "it is not a smash clone" sony and whatever devs developed this should just embrace being a smash clone and try to fine tune the smash elements

shame this game apparently didn't sell blockbusters and so a sequel is unlikely but i'd like to see one, a more refined one, it would be great for sony to have its own brawler, also, they should/should have cut the name to just "playstation allstars" or "battle royale"

This years support was already given up, they didnt even publish Ratchet, Vita Pets and SSD in retail. Freedom Wars almost likely getting a port but I dont really care and I dont see that as a loss. I dont care oreshika also and these are already out in the world that matters most. And not even japan would care for their sequel after such a big mess of these rushed out game.
Yoshida shouldnt exist, I will never see it the other way, he doesnt want to complete Gravity Daze series on Vita, instead he will move and make us buy PS4 so it can "live". The only thing I got to say, fuck you yoshida. Vita is dead in everyones book aside from really small niche studios. Move on.

I think I read that only like 2% of people actually bother rating stuff

You will surprised how many take ratings seriously, even on this board..... they look at number and decide.

excluding most of vitagaf since they know what kind of rating are expected)

Ratings are pointless.

I hope someday they allow for text reviews like in Play Store or something like that. Although I suppose most people would be too lazy to type in proper reviews.

NIS and Gust are. The rest aren't. One big seller doesn't exclude the company from being niche.

I actually points to the part "small" in that phrase. They are niche studio, but not exactly really small.

You know, I feel like having a deja vu. It seems like we always have the despair of Vita discussion every month or so. Is there any month that only has positive news?

It doesn't help that I am playing Danganronpa 2 at the moment either
