PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

Heads up. Anybody who played the disc version of Minecraft PS3 prior to August 29th also now owns the digital version of the game. I figure this is to set up the vita cross buy situation, but I never bought the game and bam im downloading the full thing right now. Guess I have to buy the PS4 version now because I feel bad.

What about people who have the disc version but never played it because they wanted to wait for the PS4 port?

Is Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the Vita worth a purchase while it's on sale?
I played the OG Xbox version (pre-Black) back in the day and got about halfway through before moving state and dropping the game. My Xbox is now dead :(

I'm hearing kinda mixed things about it, and forced touch gimmicks would be a definite turnoff.

I am new here and am trying to find all good general threads regarding Playstation 3/4 and Vita. I have found a few through search but not all I guess. What PS/Vita threads are worth subscribing to?

Is there an active official PS4 thread?

This is meant to be for all PSN stuff (PS4/PS3/Vita) but it mainly ends up being Vita talk. There's not meant to be "megathreads" but uh... yeah.

And there's the "Over 150 Upcoming Vita Games" thread, which is excellent.

for me is a great game and a decent port but if your picky these are the downsides

some rear touch bullshit and gyroscope bow aiming controls
30fps gameplay vs 60fps of console versions
visual downgrade on the textures (is not much thou)

if you can pass that , game works great and brings some new stuff

Taken from ninja gaiden wikia:

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is a remake of Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PlayStation Vita. Unlike the previous remakes of Ninja Gaiden (Xbox), Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus features an easy setting called "Hero" mode, making it more accessible to casual gamers. Sigma Plus also takes advantage of the additional features that the Vita offers, including:

Gyroscopic first-person aiming. By tilting the PlayStation Vita, the player can adjust the camera angle in first-person viewing modes.
Back touchpad controls. Tapping symbols using the rear touchpad will allow Ryu to boost the power of his Ninpo.
Touch screen controls. Players can go into first-person mode by tapping the touch screen.
In addition, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus offers new sets of accessories that Ryu and Rachel can equip. Ryu's are called Enhancements, and affect his status in the following ways:
Untitled-09 jpg
Ninja Gaiden 1 Sigma Plus - Enhancements
Armor of Power: "Increase Projectile Weapon damage."
Armor of Intelligent: "Decrease Health, Increase Ki slot"
Armor of Speed: "Increase Flying Swallow Damage"
Furious Tiger Helm: "Decrease Attack. Increase Defence."
White Tiger Helm: "Decrease Attack. Greatly Increase Defence."
Red Dragon Helm: "Decrease Defence. Increase Attack."
Azure Dragon Helm: "Decrease Defence. Greatly Increase Attack."
Dragon Gauntlet: "Boost Power of Blue Essence."
Falcon Gauntlet: "Boost Power of Ninpo."
Holy Gauntlet: "Slightly decrease Damage. Increase ability to absorb Yellow Essence."
Rachel can equip Glasses that affect her status in the following ways:

Metal Frames: "Boost power of Blue Essence."
Sunglasses: "Boost power of Sorcery."
Face Guard: "Slightly decrease Damage. Increase ability to absorb Yellow Essence."
These new accessories are equippable even when the player has accessories from another category equipped, and the effects even stack with each other (For example, Ryu's attack power is greatly boosted if he equips both The Armlet of the Sun and the Azure Dragon Helm).

Additionally, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus adds one new Costume: the Grip of Murder from Ninja Gaiden III.

Vita specific downsides: 30 fps, oversensitive gyro aiming(which can't be disabled), no 'quick quit'

The biggest downside about the game itself is that while combat sections are great, the rest is not so good...platforming is terrible.

So Chain Chronicle V is going to be release next week. I hate this 1 account per Vita only shit.

Maybe I should buy another Vita for my JP account...

I did. It was pretty obvious that
it was Leon as soon as I saw the message on the bathroom wall. How the evidence was disposed of made it even more certain since it was easy to see the crystal ball was thrown to activate the switch, which made sense for the ultimate baseball star. By the way a little gaming in general pet peeve here. Me figuring this out extremely quickly while my character acts like an idiot. I mean seriously, how did he not realise it spelt Leon inverted straight away? My character is an idiot. I didn't figure out everything before the trial though. It didn't occur to me that the victim was the one who planned murder first.

That's one of the biggest flaw of the first game, in my opinion. It treats you as an idiot for the tutorial/first case. Rest assure, the rest of the game will throw you away, and the first case of DR2 didn't suffer the "first case syndrome" of DR1.

I don't think it's new thread worthy, but here's an interesting comment from Tabata when asked by Gamespot about a possible Vita and PC version of Type-0:

I know a Vita version is all but dead, but I found it interesting that he implies the possibility of ports.

Doesn't that go against what Tabata said to Kotaku?

Someone asked Shahid about it yesterday and even he admitted it wasn't likely. Sounds like Square just don't care.

Flickr app seems to have gotten an update at least in the US. Havent tried it out yet but I assume it works now

Yep, the update finally fixed the app.

IIRC the F2P version launched in July. Next week is the retail version's release.

SuperUFO just shipped my 64GB Memory Card. It was U$85,48 total. Not that bad, judging that I paid U$120 on my 32GB Memory Card at the Vita's launch.

I'll get one later too, probably December, since there is no games that I want on that month.

That's what I thought when I decided I'd get it in 2014, except that with each passing month, there are more and more games I'm buying. If I didn't buy it now, I'd be screwed.

So far I got the DLC for Muramasa Rebirth, which is my favorite Vita game easily, and Mega Man X4. Loving re-living MMX4. Such a shame what Capcom did to the franchise.

Not sure why I missed it, but Kamitani Jouji mentioned that they made Oboro Muramasa's DLCs without profitability in mind.

VanillawareVitaGAF, you guys better be buying these DLC.

Also, fuck you whichever regulating body is responsible for delaying the 4th DLC in Japan.

I bought every single one of them at launch for the full price. I regret nothing.

I did my part. Those are actually pretty great DLCs for that price.

I bought 1 but have not beat the full game yet(Which I did not get through plus, payed full price for that!) I am waiting till I actually beat the regular game with at least one path before I go into the DLCs as cool as they all look.

At some point I will stop neglecting my Vanillaware games on my Vita. I never delete them and I buy them day 1 but I end up playing other stuff first a lot of times.

The DLC (first and second) has been on sale before. If you can wait, they'll go on a sale eventually.

Bought all 4! Bought the first two at launch and just bought the last two on Tuesday.

I already bought the first 2. Amazing DLC.

And VitaGAF, I'm getting married next week! Already got a PS4 (aka the $400 vita acessory) as a wedding gift! Looking forward to meet all those NYC gaffers at my honeymoon vacation!

I always forget that these DLC exist. Shame on my head.
Will buy once the current Vita game onslaught has ended.

I think the game is good. Very casual but good.

The game just looks so damn ugly though.

one of my major gripes with the game. it also has a terrible UI. it's painful to look at.

i also think this game should've been a launch ps4 title, with the right production values, character roster, artstyle and a more smash aligned gameplay design choices, it could've been a huge success for sony.

This delay is so weird. But Rajya is awesome, so please be excited.

Got the second ending for her yesterday, so for now I'm done with Muramasa (still need to get her to 99 and get all abilities, but that will be quick). Clocked over 30h on the DLCs alone :)

Cheers man! Enjoy ye new life, new Vita accessory and the trip!

Been playing quite a bit of Fez and Hotline Miami. Trying out PSASBR since I haven't played a ton of Smash. I think I'll like it.

Are they shorter/better paced than the main game? It's lovely but...I just can't continue.

If all VITA titles end up on PS4 then that is good for me. VITA is a good system just like the 3DS but i prefer playing games on home consoles/PC i will not be buying a New 3DS or a New VITA
(lol)
for that matter. Mobile games will probably fill in my portable system needs for the future.

Anybody here picking up Destiny on Tuesday ?

Megaman X4 is hard for me to play on vita.
Whenever I play Megaman games I rest my thumb on both jump and shoot (x and square) and kind of rock it back and forth to get fast jumping and shooting. On vita I end up squishing triangle and circle accidentally as I play.

I'm gonna have to find a new way to play this

I love my Vita but I'm getting the Vita TV because I'd generally rather play on TV, and without battery concerns. Wish I got it before playing Neptunia Rebirth.

Getting Destiny, PS4 of course, though I have no idea how quickly Best Buy ships...they were the only place with Ghost editions in stock.

I played Maverick Hunter X and all GBA/DS portable Mega Man games exactly like this...just move your thumb more to the left so it's not even touching triangle?

I was hoping the Vita TV was a little bit cheaper in the UK but i will get it day 1. Freedom wars will be the first game i will play on the big screen!
