Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

Frog Legs are delicious.
Remember a old buffet around me had them all the time.
Was the only meat I would eat when i went.

I wonder how Slippy would taste...

But that's the thing -- it wouldn't "easily" work at all. Fox and Wolf have completely different personalities/demeanors (reflected through their stances and taunts), they're different sizes, and they have completely different movesets. It's not an Olimar/Alph situation.

lol. I don't think you get it. The point is to be superficial, not an actual replacement for Wolf. It's like, hey we cut wolf, but you can now use him as a costume! To most players this would be preferable over nothing.

it's not meant to be an actual equivalent of wolf.

I get what you're saying which got me thinking I'd like to have a James McCloud alt for fox.

That would be dope.

I'd like this over them being gone but lol this happening with Sakurai's reasoning on why he upgraded Lucina from Alt to to being her own character.

There's a lot of lol about what he has done, I mean. Dark pit? really? If Wolf is cut, that's just as silly. Might as well have him than nothing. I can definitely see this for Lucas.

Since you all seem to be going insane, let us speak about stages! Since we already know most if not all of the 3DS stages, hows about we discuss our dream stage selection for the Wii U roster. This would summarize my own stagey desires:

Good choices of stages but I have a good feeling that Hyrule Temple is going to be in the game since Sakurai is aware that stage is very popular. (I don't know which version tho but I hope that it's in Wii U)

Edited: I just took double look at your stage roster again but damn it's full of good choices. I don't mind to see it happening tho.

Does your dream roster seriously mention Mario Bros.? :v

For mine, I'd want to see for Wii U

Rhythm Heaven
Duck Hunt
Mario Power Tennis (wherein it swaps courts between Grass, Clay, Wario's Factory, and one of the mini-games)
Phenandra Drifts (since, of course, Ice Climber got snubbed)

Wapeach alt

believe

I'm personally hoping for

Daisy (but actually called "Daisy")
Nurse Peach (needs to really play up the hospital theme - maybe have Dr. Toad as her Standard B move? :D)
Shadow Queen (obviously)
Striker Peach (assuming that her dress doesn't have a hitbox; does it?)

Honestly, as long as the blue dress is back, I'm good. But I sure wouldn't complain about a Mario Golf or Strikers getup...

I'm really hoping for a strikers alt

I personally want a Sports Centric character if they were to get strikers gear.
I want to see Daisy make it in with all of the skills regarding her spinoff appearances.
Though her staring in a real game with actual development and a move set based off that would be better.

Pretty great list. However, it's missing a stage for the Ice Climbers and a Dark Moon stage.

That's definitely a far sight better than the 3DS stage roster, but I fear it might be too optimistic.

I'm thinking the F-Zero and Mother stages in the 3DS version will be shared with the Wii U one because I really can't imagine any situation where they get a stage in both versions and Donkey Kong/Metroid/Sonic etc. don't.

I wouldn't anticipate a stage from 3D World, Tropical Freeze, or Yoshi's Woolly World, as they're all too new.

I do wonder what the "Normal" button at the bottom of the Wii U's stage roster is about. There's no equivalent on the 3DS stage roster. At first I was thinking it could be to switch to the Final Destination variants, but the 3DS version showed it will be mapped to a button. Maybe the Wii U version has the new and old stages segregated by pages like in Melee? Or perhaps it just switches over to custom stages presuming they're back in the Wii U version?

I really wish Sakurai would make her awesome again. She was my main in Melee w/ Sheik :<

I was a Peach main in Melee. I feel you. At least we know her second jump is back.

Just give her some reliable koing attacks outside of her crown slap and I'm happy. Oh and yessss I appreciate her second jump is an actually second jump again instead of that stupid tiny hop in brawl. ¬_¬
I wanna see what alts she may have

Pink, red, blue, green, Nurse/wedding/, Daisy. No clue what sakurai will do for the last 2 aside from her smb classic/fire peach look and "dark" peach lol.

If that list of unlock methods a few pages back is legit, I'm fine with it. They're all reasonable, and a few are sufficiently challenging/time-consuming. I say the more there is to unlock, the better!

Out of curiosity, when did everyone start following the Pic of the Days? To be honest, I didn't know they were even happening until October - about the time Toon Link was revealed. I think that was when GameXplain started doing the weekly POTD discussions, so that's when I started checking up on them.
Since then, it's become one of the constants in my life. Wake up, grab breakfast, Pic of the Day...

I'm hoping the POTD heats up a bit more in the coming weeks. Menus are pretty boring, but hopefully the Wii U-exclusive content will start pouring in after the 3DS version's launch.
Question: Will the secret characters like Ganondorf and R.O.B. be shown with POTD after the 3DS version is out, or will they be kept as hidden characters on the webpage without any official recognition?

I started following the PotD around the same time I think, and I've been a slave to it ever since. Then I became a host for GameXplain and became even more hopeless a slave to it. :P

I think they'll probably start showing the hidden characters on the site. It'd make zero sense not to since they'll be completely common knowledge by the time the Wii U version comes out.

Unlocking characters is one of the best parts for me. As a kid it was cool, and at 29, it's still really rewarding. It's just the kind of person I am. I like savoring things, savoring the smaller roster, so that when I FINALLY get an unlockable character, trying them out is that much sweeter.

I totally understand why many people just want everyone unlocked, especially if you plan on playing with friends right out of the box.

That said, I'm really glad there are still unlockables.
I can respect that. I don't look down on people who like unlockables, and I'm not bitter about having to unlock everything. I think it is annoying for tournament hosts, though, and I wish there was an option for them to unlock everything without grinding through 10-20 game copies.

For some reason, I actually enjoy unlocking characters. It feels like there's something to look forward to when playing the game. I was kinda sad when I saw Smash 4 with a big starting roster.
This is what I generally want to do in a fighting game:
1) Narrow down the characters I want to learn via aesthetic appeal (right now, that's about 8 for Smash).
2) Mess with those characters in training mode to see if any just don't "feel" right to play, to eliminate a few.
3) Play a lot of matches with the remaining characters to narrow down my main.

For me, the unlockables just slow this process down. I'm not really irritated by it, and during the 1000 matches I usually swap characters a few times and try to get the first hit instead of just dying, but I save the real experience for after everything being unlocked.

Guess it depends on what the idea was for the RH rep.
Since I remember speculation was saying that more than likely they ran into a Ice Climbers issue as well since perhaps he wanted multiple. Though then it turns into why not just use Marshal.
Also in the defense of the Chorus Kids, the Ice Climbers relies on AI for the lesser Climber & are rather detailed, & the Chorus Men are about as complicated to model as Mr. Game & Watch.

What I want for stages:
-Sunset Shore - A stylized stage based on the most memorable level from Returns. I wouldn't even mind if instead of showing the characters' unique clothing features (like DK's tie, Link's tunic, or Mario's hat and overalls), the characters would just be a solid color with an outline (think Mr. Game & Watch).
-Something from Dark Moon - I was expecting the standard scrolling stage to be the ScareScraper, where you would have to keep jumping up from room to room, but with Pac Land and Gaur Plains filling that role in, it would be better to have something else.
-The Island from Doshin the Giant - You fight on randomly generated terrain, while Doshin goes around the background, jumping to change the terrain layout, moving and placing trees around, and (after being attacked enough) going Jashin on everybody's asses.

It's possible that they decided to put RH on hold until Next Gen Smash, like they did with other few characters between the sequels.
