Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

I feel like i missed so much. Thats what I get for sleeping instead of being on SmashGAF! Lol oh well.

Is there any word on how many blocks the 3DS download will be? Im thinking of downloading the game if we dont get the "Double pack" in the US
Double dip, that's what I'll do, I'll get it both digitally and physically, unless that's a problem for Lucina's fat ass.

For the most part, I'm really liking the new 3DS stages, but I'm definitely dissapointed with certain series just getting ignored for new content. No new DK, Star Fox, or Metroid in particular are a huge bummer.
Also no new Kirby stage... :( C'mon, Triple Deluxe just came out!

Mushroom Kingdom 2 not being in is a bummer because it could've fixed its one problem by being like balloon fight: Make it not a walk off, make it loop instead. Would've been freaking awesome.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Smash has always struggled in the stage department. You get some winners here and there, but a lot of the time they're bland, generic, and uncreative. Then when they start getting interesting, there's usually some kind of really frustrating element, like walk-offs and stage bosses.

It's like: I really love the setting and design of the Wii U Fire Emblem Colosseum. It's a tad generic, but it looks really cool and I love the "pop up" platforms mechanic. But nope, it's a walk-off, and I hate those kinds of stages. If you want to go with the FD version with ledges, it takes away the pop-up platforms. So frustrating!

There's always a lot of missed opportunities.

They could have picked a stage from literally any other KIU chapter bar 1 or 3 and it would have been more interesting. Gaol's Castle, the Space Pirate Ship, Ruined Village, or Hades' Belly would have been ace.

Chapter 11 leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Gaol's Castle is more interesting than the Reset Forest?

Smash 64 had a pretty good one, bar Peach's Castle.

Oh, and ZaHiro (one of the Reddit guys who played the demo) told me he couldn't hear whether or not they were still using the Brawl victory themes for veterans.

That'd be pretty dang lazy if true.

Thought it was confirmed Bowser at least had a new victory theme?

I can understand Star Fox but Kirby also seems like a huge missed opportunity. It seems like this time around DK, Metroid and Star Fox got the shaft in Smash with no newcomers(Star Fox going down one) and in general little to poor representation in terms of items and stages. Well theres Earthbound/Mother as well which doesn't even have a stage(yet)and increasing chances of a cut character.

mushroomy kingdom and pictochat are amazing be quiet smashgaf...
Agreed. SmashGAF is just being delusional.

They're also the best example of how awful idol culture in Japan is. People become obsessed with them. The more popular ones are not allowed to have any social lives. One was seen with a man once in public and had to issue a crying video apology where she shaved her head as penance because so much of the audience was angry.
Wow, how awful. A large group of people who are obsessed with one Japanese person and complain whenever he/she does something that they don't like. I don't think I've seen anything like that around here.

Pictochat is not terrible.

It's fun as heck. The chat log, the drawings add a ton of variety.

I wonder what drawings Pictochat 2 will have!

I would have assumed there would be another Pictochat stage but for some reason the 3DS doesn't have Pictochat. No reason for it not to be there, I mean, it couldn't have been hard to implement. In fact it was probably quite simple.

I hope it's that. I was actually excited for the handheld focus of the 3DS stage roster but it seems that it was only true for Mario, Zelda and the mysterious "unlockable" Kirby stage. I wanted a Metroid 2/Fusion stage or something from Wario Land!

Yeah, Sakurai was clearly blowing smoke out of his ass when he said that. I'm beyond disappointed. I'm actually disgusted that they wasted such a perfect opportunity to represent some of Nintendo's less popular handheld titles. Mario gets FOUR new stages, all of which are based on 3DS games that they ripped assets from, while franchises like DK and Wario get fuck all. This is what people should be complaining about. Not the roster.

I'm convinced the Game Boy stage is the Kirby stage.

Now, what will the Wii U one be...?

What? How does a picture of the gameboy start-up screen, containing the only 2 monochrome colored characters, give an allusion to any particular game's stage?

EDIT: didn't know about the ESRB leak stuff with the gameboy stage :P sorry!

Also you guys are crazy! I think Mushroomy Kingdom and Pictochat stages are great :(

I assume the Gameboy stage will change through a bunch of different Gameboy games, not just Kirby. It was never called a Kirby stage in the PotD, and picture of the stage showed the start-up screen.

Maybe it'll have Metroid 2 and Donkey Kong Land. :(

I believe it's a Kirby stage for two reasons:

1. The stage roster leak shows a shot of Green Greens. Not entirely conclusive, but I think a general Game Boy icon would just show the logo screen or something.

2. I think it'd be pretty dang weird if the Green Greens theme was playing while you're in a Metroid II segment or w/e.

Wow, how awful. A large group of people who are obsessed with one Japanese person and complain whenever he/she does something that they don't like. I don't think I've seen anything like that around here.

while people in general seem to love peering into the lives of famous people sometimes the obessiveness some of the japanese fans have for their idols/voice actors is sometimes quite insane lol

I'm pretty sure all of us really like at least some of the new stages they've picked, that's never been the issue.

The problem is just how few of those there are, and how many stages seem to have been ported directly from Brawl. There's fewer new stages than there were in Melee, and that's the issue. I'm sure everyone knew going in that the 3DS version wouldn't be quite as fully featured as previous entries, but we're looking at a game that takes one of the most important pieces of content almost directly from a game most of us have already bought, and then asking retail for it.

That just feels wrong.

For me, at least, the problem isn't so much the number of old stages as the selection. Green Hill Zone, Mushroomy Kingdom, Flat Zone 2, and Brinstar are all stages that absolutely did not need to come back. There are so many better stages in Brawl that could have been ported over just as easily as those ones were.

Lol guys, I was being a bit sarcastic, but no one caught on.

Lighten up.

Sorry, so many crazy things are said around here with a straight face that it's pretty hard to tell sometimes.

He's showing it with monochrome(-ish) Dedede and Kirby, and the ESRB select screen showed a shot of Green Greens from KDL. They seem like hints that it's a Kirby stage.
Those are the only two characters with gameboy color schemes though that we know of.

1. Suggestive but nowhere near conclusive.

2. Green Greens could play on Halberd.
