PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

The Cerberus came free with the purchase and lists as a separate download on my purchase list.

The other ME3 stuff is simply listed as free on PSN and did not show up on my purchase list.

Thanks. I'm seeing Mass Effect Arrival listed for $6.99. (Indicating that I haven't purchased it.)

Without spoilers, is it an essential DLC if I intend to play the story from One to Three?

It leads into Mass Effect 3 and without that you'll be confused about Shepards situation at the beginning of Mass Effect 3. Although all you really need to do is read a wiki or watch a playthrough of it. That's what I did.

The gameplay in Ace Attorney is hell of a lot more involved than Danganronpa.
How? It's literally a visual novel.

Which is something I was told before I bought it, but still. True that occasionally does happen, but I can overlook it because at least thought and reasoning is required generally. In Danganronpa it even highlights the exact points of possible contradictions just in case you aren't smart enough to see it yourself, and it limits the evidence you can use in relation to it, making it all just require little to no thought. When you get things wrong it's because of something about the minigame being poorly designed or laid out like tbe comics. It's possible Danganronpa gets more complex later though to be fair. But so far I'm not impressed with the gameplay.
Are you playing it on the highest difficulty?

Seriously? Ace Attorney's gameplay is so barebones and full of "Oh, you presented this thing that is exactly the same as that thing? Too bad, I wanted that thing" that I wouldn't even compare the two, Danganronpa is way better gameplay wise.

I'm an AA fan myself and I'd tend to agree with you. AA does feel very barebones, especially compared to DR which I guess is within the same genre?

I can see why people would prefer the barebones nature of AA over DR though. It really does depend on whether or not you like the various silly mini-games that go on in DR1 and DR2. The ideal way to play DR and even Zero Escape is on the hardest difficulty, so that's something of note

i beat ZE on hard and plat it, which was really easy. like maybe a 1/10 easy

So just so I get the gist of the story with almost finishing chapter 1 pre-trial:

basically everyone stays in school and dies of old age
or
everyone kills everyone else off and the last person alive gets to leave as long as you catch the blackened each time because there's no one left to find out about it.

PS All-Stars making me want to buy collection games on PS3. God of War, Bioshock, Jak and Daxter. Well fucking played Sony.

You never played the God of War and Jak series?

You are missing out man :D! The former are some of the best action games you can find on the PS2/PSP while the latter has one very Nintendo-esc platformer that still is a blast to play today and its third game is a great game in the series that takes what worked in Jak 2 and mixes it with driving gameplay and more weapons to play with.

.....Just skip Jak 2 if you are planing to play this series.....it's just, way to difficult X(. Piss-poor health count, downright EVIL AI for the police that attack if you even slightly bump into another hover car, foes attacking you from god knows where..... it sucks X(.

Damn shame too as the game is a great one :). The dark story surprising adapts well despite coming from the charming and colorful original, the core gameplay is solid (the guns felt like a natural 'extension' from Jaks melee abilities) and the level designs were fun to run around in :).

Just....don't get upset if you die alot in Jak 2.....because you will die, alot sadly :l.

If you finally buy J&D, just act as if the second doesn't exist. I don't want you to waste your time as I did (until I finally dropped it).

I still have to play 3 and Daxter (PSP spin-off). I can say The Precursor Legacy and The Lost Frontier (the PSP one) are both good and enjoyable games though.

Not having the Bioshock games in your collection should be forbidden, though :P. But I'll wait, since 2K may announce a Collection for PS4/X1 or something.

I played God of War 1 and the PSP games. For whatever reason I never got 2. I was more into playing RPGs and sports games on PS2. And I loved Bioshock 1 on 360 but never got to play 2.

Also I had Jak 1 but it was used from GameStop and stopped working 30 minutes into the game so I just took it back and got a refund since they didn't have any more :(

MARKETING SUCCESSFUL. You've never played God of War or J&D?

You're in luck because they re-released the God of War COLLECTION about a million times now. I personally own the original PS2, and PSP ones plus God of War 3, and I have the HD collection with 1 & 2 in it in glorious 60FPS (I think). GoW 1-3 are worth playing through. Especially GoW 2. GoW 3 still looks really good, even as a PS3 game.

The J&D games are really fun to get into, especially with that weird jump from 1 to Jak 2. Shout out to Jak X Combat Racing which is fantastic as well

Give Jak 1 another chance; it like Crash Bandicoot was mixed with Banjo and Mario 64 (if that makes any sense). You collect things (Precursor Orbs and Power Cells) through a never-loading world (seriously, the game almost never loads; it only does during 'transition' sections with Jak riding elevator/boat/ect) that is very well planed out and designed. The gameplay is also very solid too; Jak can punch, spin attack, long jump, double-jump, ground pound and use eco powers (shooting with Yellow eco, getting stronger attack with red eco, blue eco making you run faster and green eco restoring your health).

I loved the original alot :D, so really give that one a chance :). Also, skip Jak 2 if you can't deal with the hellish difficulty and then play Daxter (the true Jak 2; happy middle ground between the darker world of Jak 2 and the colorful one from Jak 1) and Jak 3 (a really amazing game that fixes all the issues Jak 2 had).

The third game fixes all the issues Jak 2 had and is a much, much better game :). Story is a solid balance that Jak 2 didn't have at first, the gameplay is streamlined (Heaven City is FAR less crowed and no poliece are in sight to bother you), the combat is better (due to more eco powers and weapons mods) and you can even play as Daxter in some sections :).

Daxter is the true Jak 2 man :D. Ready at Dawn basically took what Naughty Dog did with Jak 1 and the Crash games and made a happy middle ground between them. Meaning, the gameplay is lifted right out of Jak 1/2 but the levels sometimes are more at home then Crash then a Jak game. That is a great thing, as they are very well designed and offer lots of fun platforming :D. The story, isn't really there but what is there is funny and Daxter is well acted here. The game also has a good deal of content (a number of levels + fun mini games to play that give you upgrades for the main game) and it is quite cheap (only six bucks on PSN).

SNK Arcade Collection Vol. 1 (PSP) is bad.

Bought it because I want some NG games, and it was 16 games for $20. I already have almost all NGS games for ps3 and I double dipped some of them for the vita.

But the emulation is pretty shitty, and really noticeable if you played them before. The games haven't region switching (so no blood on SS), no "how to play", almost no screen and filter options, etc.

Not only that, almost all games is somewhat different that you remeber. Art of Fighting and SS have weird quirks with hitboxes and AI, so it looks like you are playing a rainbow edition. AoF and SS lost almost all cutscenes voices (only Robert have its voice), Fatal Fury have a VERY different opening. KOF94 have a bizarre frameskip that occurs randomly. Some games are more faithful, like Magician Lord, King of the Monsters, Metal Slug and Top Hunters.

The only thing that the game have is achievent medals that pop-up, just like trophies, that unlocks extras with the games. but I can't recommend this collection. Stick with the M2 NeoGeo Station releases, even if they are more expensive.

So i've had a pretty shitty couple months and haven't been able to get the games I wanted to pick up. I'm going to take some games in to trade and pick up at least one new game but can't decide between Disgaea 4 vita or Neptunia Rebirth. I'm leaning Neptunia because I haven't played it but was interested but have played Disgaea 4 on PS3. I never actually got around to beating D4 though because I got to caught up in grinding and then got burnt out.

Get Neptunia.

That was Bike Rider DX
This one is a very old style adventure game.

Pretty cool game. Finished it on a sitting! Asked the developer if the game had a secret ending after finishing with all the collectibles and fast and he hinted about have it in a update. Maybe it'll come with this new version.

Get Neptunia.

Listen to this bitch.

Depends though.

Neptunia has some translation issues but is deliciously self aware and the combat is some of the most enjoyable in JRPGs I've played in years. Disgaea is amazing as well (next to no translation issues -.-) but being a SRPG, it is a tad more technical.

There is basically no gameplay in ace attorney. Don't know what he is talking about.

Neither is there in a VN so...

also i still fucked up the bullet time thing even though I watched a video beforehand

I didn't realize once you locked on you had to fire them

2 questions......

1. I know these games are totally different, but I'm gonna buy one now, which one would you recommend over the other? The Swapper vs. Rogue Legacy....

2. Is Danganronpa 2 pretty easy to get into for someone new to the series? I'm very intrigued by it....I never played the first...

You need to play DR1 first...since DR2 will spoil a plot point from DR1 within the first 2 hours!

Swapper is short and may not be worth its going price, but Rogue Legacy is totally worth it.

Rogue Legacy.

Play the first game, I can't find any reason at all to want to skip straight to the second.

Rogue Legacy, without a doubt.

Please don't play Danganronpa 2 before Danganronpa, it's not a good idea for a ton of reasons.

Thanks, Thanks, and thanks. Rogue Legacy and the first Danganronpa before the second....

Awesome...

Guys I haven't played Vita more than a few minutes for weeks now. I don't know why. I played it almost every day for over two years, and I have no shortage of games.

I am such a jerk.

Thanks, Thanks, and thanks. Rogue Legacy and the first Danganronpa before the second....

Awesome...

I find it really hard to believe that you're interested in the second game and somehow don't already know that playing the first game is a requirement :lol It was just on sale for $20 too last week before Danganronpa 2 released

Awesome...

Just any FYI...you missed DR1 for $20 last week on US PSN, but I think you should be able to find a cheap copy online somewhere.
Either way should you get it, get ready for Despiar....and Monokuma sexiness.

They're an indie dev, heck they just RECENTLY announced Ep. 1 for Steam!

Pretty much this...

That was never announced for Vita and I don't think it's coming. Poor form on Lucid's part IMO. You take a year to release an episode and you drop one your platforms.

Release Episode 1 back in May 2013, when you also talk about how the game has 5 Episodes to the story.

Over a year passes and there is hardly any word whether or not the series is going to continue on the Vita or not. People complain about Telltale taking on too many projects and have horrible release schedules. Now obviously I have no idea what Lucid had going on at the time and or what state the whole Jacob Jones project was at, but I don't think it would be unreasonable to think that Episode 2 was going to be over a year away.

If this does eventually make it out complete, will it be 2018 or so before Episode 5 hits? The episodes simply aren't long enough to sustain that sort of interest.
