Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

Soooo... we all agree Brawl > 64 > Melee, right? Where you guys think Smash 4 will fit in this spectrum?

I can only assume you got your brackets flipped.

Without playing it there's not really any way to tell, but I like what I heard from Zipzo. I doubt it will be as bad as Brawl, whether or not it will be as fun as Melee is yet to be seen.

Aaaah come ooon. It's as simple as calling Koopaling Roy by his full name. "Roy Koopa". Fire Emblem Roy would just be... Roy.
Yeah to be fair that's how MvC3 handled both Phoenix. Marvel's Phoenix was simply Phoenix, whereas Phoenix Wright was either called by his full name or just "Mr. Wright".

Not that I think Roy has a chance of coming back, though. :V

Ridley will be a stage hazard that is conveniently about the size of a playable character. And does stupid level 1 AI type stuff, like wandering around the stage haphazardly or grabbing someone and then proceeding to do nothing with them.

For all we know, Ridley could've been potentially planned for a playable role and scrapped during development. With his model and choppy looking idle animation being used for a stage hazard.

...Wasn't that a rumor or something?

Woah, you must have me on your ignore list then, not a day goes by that I don't lament the loss of my Brawl main.

:'(

It's a shame the best GBA game lost its Smash rep. Such an undeserved cut.

I don't have anyone on my ignore list. If I did, how would I know when someone trashtalks me?

Seriously though I guess I just never noticed. I had no idea he was even popular. I never see anyone play as him.

The Koopalings have never had surnames in Japan, they've only ever had their first names. And the surnames themselves have even been dropped in English. Roy is just Roy now, not Roy Koopa.

I like all of those words in the order you put them. I pretty much agree with this post.

The only real question is if it's gonna be Smash 4>64 or if it'll be 64>Smash 4 in the middle.

Just like Metal Mario is Mario with the metal cap on... except the two can race each other and play tennis together.

Gold Mario can play golf with Mario

Shadow Mario can play golf with Bowser Jr

Dry Bowser and Bowser have been villains in the same game with no story relation to each other.

To Nintendo alternate forms of characters basically become their own character over time.
Holy fuck, we're going into spin-off canon.

Okay, you're right. Doctor Mario is clearly Mario's identical twin brother, and I was mistaken to think that he was Mario wearing a different costume with all the same experiences of the original Mario. Mario has the deepest lore.

Re: the Unova Pokemon League "N's Castle Medley," the only two tracks I distinctly remember were the music box intro from "N, the Pokémon Child" and then "N's Castle" itself. I vaguely remember hearing strains of the staff roll music, but I could be mistaken. :( If only there were video footage somewhere!

Is Gaur Plains in the demo?

If so how does the stage work? And what music does it have?

The 3DS has four or so platforms beneath the main level. The main (top) level is a walk-off on both sides with a gap in the middle. The music I heard was "You Will Know Our Names" from the OST. My guess is that "Gaur Plains" will be the other track.

I say thanks masked man for all your info. One last thing tho...Is peach's second jump an actual second jump now?

That aside, A shame she likely won't have the ponytail for fire peach.

It felt basically the same as Brawl, unfortunately. Might have got a little more height, but it didn't feel a whole lot different to me.

"Kirby just gets the Monado" means that he doesn't get shulk's hair? And Kirby gets the buff abilities yes?

No hair, just the Monado. His B is the Monado Art swap, and he does indeed receive the same stat boosts/debuffs that Shulk would.

Damn, no BW Credits music. It could be in Smash Run but I'd have preferred it on the stage.

Again, there's a small chance they included it, but I could be rearranging the piece in my head because the Credits music would be awesome. I wouldn't trust my memory right now, but I'd say there's a 10% chance it was in there.

Classic Falcon?

Nah, it was more of a denim-ish blue with a red scarf.

Aw, Pac-Man's slow.

I wouldn't say slow, per se. Maybe "floaty"?

That IS true, but if there was ever a situation where Fire Emblem Roy actually returned, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't let that stop them from enforcing some differentiation between the two names.

Doubt it'll ever be necessary though. :B

They are given credit on the Brawl home screen in the Wii menu.
They co-own the IP and let Sakurai use Melee as a starting point for Brawl. The only active HAL employee who worked directly on Brawl was a musician.

And at the time, the former Smash Bros. team at HAL Laboratory had their hands full with another project. But it was starting the project in this way, however, that enabled us to make the Smash Bros. Brawl development team something like no other.

So, development would not be occurring at Hal Labs. But, the code and development environment of Super Smash Bros. Melee, which I had developed in the past, was offered. Having this versus not having this means the efficiency of the development changes dramatically, so I'm thankful.

Surprisingly, although the previous Smash Bros. games were developed by HAL, they had little involvement in the development of Brawl other than one or two people working on the music.

Lol yeah I have no idea why the Ridley grab thing is such a big deal. He's been known to pick up folks many times, and it would probably make for an interesting boss mechanic to differentiate him anyway.
