Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

I'm sorry I keep posting this but god damn you guys
Holy shit, I just realized that that Space Pirate is actually based on my Space Pirate design. I didn't realize how much my Metroid pictures got around until I checked Google Images.

Well it doesn't work at all - Godzilla and King Kong fought exactly once. Both had their own series beforehand, and both continued with their series afterwards.
King K. Rool was only created as an enemy of Donkey Kong, and hasn't been seen outside of the Donkey Kong series.

Well, he was in a Mario spinoff game. I dunno, K. Rool and DK are so different from one another and that's what I think Rare was going for.

Not when you put it that way, of course. Different strokes for different folks.

All that Geno talk made me realize how easy it would be to replace him in a new RPG. Not that we need one since we have Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi, but just sayin'.

and nothing of value was lost.

Only if they're in paper form...

Paper Rosalina! :O
Paper Mario Galaxy!
Nintendo, do it, and do it right, this time!

I'm sad to hear Sakurai and gang decided against Mewtwo again. :(

Honestly I do think he made it pretty far into consideration if they brought another Melee character back and he made that comment. I don't think he got in, but I would be surprised if they did DLC and he wasn't part of it.

A spinoff Mario game. Not his own game. King Kong is part of his own series, and Godzilla is part of his own series.

I think the intention was more of creating a character that would be different from DK, and they went with a reptile. Bowser and Ridley both have reptilian traits. Reptiles are often villains in popular media, ranging from Smaug in The Hobbit, to the crocodile in Lake Placid.
I don't think King K. Rool was based off of Godzilla at all, they were just trying to go for an anthropomorphic crocodile.

I agree with you there, he sure as hell wasn't based off him. It's just a personal opinion as to why I like him. Kremlings themselves were originally planned as Battletoad enemies. Who know why K. Rool was made.

I just don't see how K. Rool could be considered "the Godzilla to DK's King Kong." Godzilla and King Kong had a one-time rivalry back in the sixties, whereas K. Rool and DK have faced off several times.
The comparison just doesn't make any sense. It's kind of like saying "K. Rool is the Sonic to DK's Mario" - sure, these characters have some sort of rivalry, but the context is totally different.

Only if a properly timed Rosalina Whirl does 9999 damage will nothing be lost.

You're overthinking it. King Kong is a giant ape, DK is a giant ape; Godzilla is a giant reptile, K. Rool is a giant reptile. They're two big dumb monsters duking it out. The actual lore of Godzilla vs. King Kong isn't relevant.

Admittedly, it's a really silly comparison on my part. I've been guilty of them before. I'm not taking the lore for Kong and Zilla into account, though. I think honestly I'm just used to the idea of Apes and Reptiles fighting. I was a fan of the old rampage games and it had something similar.

Why do people still believe this, even after the All-Star mode POTD?

Because we've seen clear evidence that it wasn't a straight stream of gameplay but rather an arrangement of clips (right after Shulk's victory screen, it cut to Yoshi's homerun contest) and clear evidence of the clips being from different save files or different points in one save file (one picture of the trophies has only 13 trophies unlocked, another has 600+). So that's hardly strong evidence that there'll be more characters.
I mean, I believe there could be more too, but I'm feeling less and less hopeful for it lol.

The only reason I believe there's more coming is because of the gaps in the CSS for 3DS. It just doesn't seem like the work of a perfectionist (Sakurai cares about the most intricate details). Either that or they're spaces for DLC characters.

It was so easy to surprise players back in 2001. You show them five question marks on the CSS, you give them ten.

Amazing. A+. No social media strategy required.

Now you give them 28 or however many to start with and they cry for your blood and also Krystal.

Which gaps? You mean the empty spaces on the bottom row? Those aren't necessarily "gaps," they could just be part of the design. Look at Melee's CSS: there's room to fit two more boxes on the bottom row, but there are no more characters. As long as the CSS is symmetrical, then it may well be the final one.

Melee's CSS had an actual design though. The design of this CSS is entirely composed of character icons, so it's weird. In the Wii U CSS, the background has this moving orange background thing. This is just grey.

All-Star Mode didn't even have all the characters that are already confirmed.

What do you mean? The menu picture not having Game & Watch? It could just be that the menu doesn't change even after unlocking everyone.

My Reyn is probably stronger, statistically speaking, but maybe I'll go with Dunban. I'll definitely switch to Dunban/Reyn/Riki next time I boot up the game, though. Thanks for the advice, everyone. :-)

Well, Shulk will still show up in the cutscenes regardless, right?
Yeah, but fighting crippled is an interesting experience.

Buying into the laughable "trophy theory" was entirely your own fault.
I still embrace this hypothesis.

Y'know when you used to ask for a McDonalds as a kid when your Mom had already prepared dinner and said she'd "think about it"...
My Mom always gave in.

I'm sad to hear Sakurai and gang decided against Mewtwo again. :(
Presumptions!

It is assumed the ESRB video may have been spliced footage from multiple save files.
I think this is rather silly. As if the leaker took a menu video, played for another few hours, and then unlocked the rest of the stuff and took the other videos. If I were leaking video content, I would leak everything I had at the most recent point.

But the boxes are not symmetrical, it look like this:

And this roster was incomplete, and this is exactly the same case in the leaked CSS.
