It's just all going to depend on how nintendo feels.
They know they can make money off Smash Characters being DLC on either platform so I can't see them not taking advantage of that at some point.

here it is
- Mario: I have played some mario games but never finished one, not a big fan
- Kirby: everygame up to his 64 game, from there I haven't played any
- DK: I just played the ones in the snes and DK 64, want to play TF now that I have a Wii U
- Pokemon: only Gen I didn't play is IV, played some spinoffs too
- Legend of Zelda: Oot - as a Zelda fan, every Zelda on home console, thou I have skipped most handheld title
- Metroid: Every Metroid out there, and I even liked Other M to some extent, deal with it P:
- Starfox: only played Starfox 64 and fucking loved it
- F-Zero: played GX and the 64 one
- Mother: none, and don't mind
- Animal Crossing: Don't care for the series
- Pikmin: don't care about this either
- Fire Emblem: fucking love this series so much since they came to america
- Metal Gear Solid: just played twin snakes on gamecube and loved it, played MGS4 and shred manly tear even if I didn't know the whole story
- Sonic the Hedgehog: just played the ones on the GBA, I like the one that was a semi fighting game
- Megaman: from the classic I just played megaman 2, I played X series up to X6
- Pac-man: just the classic, and nothing else
- Wii Fit: nope
- Xenoblade Chronicles: Loved this game, the best Wii title to me, totally excited to play with Shulk on smash
- Punch Out!! - the classic and Wii version, so much fun
- Mii - well, wii sport and that's it
-Kid Icarus - none, I want to try out KI:U since palutena is such a hottie :u

Lol. This is literally one of the first games I ever played in my entire life.
I can't believe 30+ years later I'm seeing it again. And for all the right reasons.
Hmn, could this be the future of Directs? Or maybe they're incremental bonuses every few months to catch up with the cool people at the Treehouse.
Or it's a one-shot.
It's amazing, I'm loving it.
For Wii U they'll show a better stage creator and an adventure mode and the hype will be there.

I played Melee over at a friend's house after he just got a GameCube and saw that Pikachu was in it as well as other Pokemon so it grabbed my interest. Pokemon was basically the only game series I liked as a kid. The only other Nintendo game I had was Super Mario Advance.
It was cus of Smash that I actually got into Nintendo - I started to want to know more about all these characters and ended up buying a GameCube because of it. So all my years spent gaming I basically owe to Melee, it introduced to me every Nintendo game out there besides Pokemon
Well I mean they'll be ready to go on the Wii U version but to unlock them on the 3DS you have to connect to the Wii U version is what I personally think
Given that it's 8 hours long, I imagine it'll probably be starting right around then maybe an hour or so later.

I wonder if we'll get newcomer trailers during nico nico/treehouse event. I mean, even though people will have their hands on the game, there's a chance not everyone will have unlocked all/any of the newcomers. Unless someone gets it.. today/tomorrow.

8 hours is enough time to probably unlock half the roster if not more, so chances are it's the demo version that doesn't have unlockable characters.

I don't think the whole 8 hours is Smash.
Plus I imagine they're not gonna be unlocking characters or showing anything Sakurai wants to stay hidden for awhile, probably just gonna be matches.

Woah, new Smash info or not (not) I'm glad to see the Treehouse doing more of this stuff and not being tied to any game event. There can be a Treehouse direct at any time!
The stream will be after japanese launch though, so the cat's out of the bag anyway.
Several gaffers will be doing streams as well, so unless they have actual newcomer trailers (that weren't somehow already shown off during the nico nico stream) it might not be all that great. At least not as great as what gaffers will be streaming, since i'm sure they'll be taking requests on what to show off.

Mario: Played a great deal of. Can't think I've a series title on a system I own that I haven't played extensively.
Yoshi: Yoshi's Island is one of my favorite games of all-time. Played the heck out of that as a kid.
Wario: Wario Land 4 was another one of my favorite games growing up, and the WarioWare series is a gift from god. Love it.
Donkey Kong: Played a lot of the Original Donkey Kong. I've just started DKCR on the 3DS.
Game and Watch: Never even heard of him until Melee.
Zelda: Played my fair share. I've played OoT, WW, TP, PH, MC, SS, and LBW extensively, but I've yet to actually play a full Zelda game to completion. Closest I came was TP. I intend to finish one someday.
Metroid: Played the first hour or so of Prime 3, got stuck, never went back to it. Also played a lot of Prime 2 multiplayer with friends as a kid. I intend to go back to it eventually.
Kid Icarus: Never. Watched an LP of Uprising, that's about it. Maybe I'll pick up the next one, whenever that day comes.
Fire Emblem: Never. Intend on getting Awakening soonish.

Pokemon: Hundreds of hours in Sapphire, 100+ hours in Diamond, 100+ hours in SoulSilver, 50+ hours in Black, 50+ hours in X. Beat Coliseum. Played a good bit of Mystery Dungeon and Leaf Green. I know my way around a Pokemon Gym.
Duck Hunt: Had the original SMB/DH dual cartridge on NES. Played a good deal of it until we upgraded our TVs in the house and they didn't work with the Light Gun anymore.
ROB: Never even heard of him until Brawl.
Mother: Watched LPs of all three. Dabbled a bit in Mother, never played Earthbound, got decently far in Mother 3 before I moved computers and lost the ROM. Intend to get Earthbound and Mother 3 on VC when able
F-Zero: Never. Would buy a new F-Zero if Nintendo ever fancied though. Smash has made me love this series

But just doing matches will unlock characters. Doing 8 hours of vs mode will almost certainly unlock nearly everyone.
Even Smash Run could unlock characters for all we know.

I like this theory that I just heard.
Link is in the All Star Icon because there is actually a fifth company involved.
So when that character gets released Link will be replaced by that companies character.
Since there's no reason for there to be 2 nintendo characters there when it's all of the third parties.
Might be outlandish but I like it.
Bayo, HW, captain toad... and... what's coming out for 3DS? Anything? ORAS? What else?
Or maybe link is just nintendo's 2nd most popular character, and there's nothing more to it than that.
Glad to hear that! For a lot of people, Smash is basically the gateway of people to several Nintendo franchises that was never mainstream.

Unless they turn them off for this stream, we're guaranteed a few unlockables. Ness in Brawl required like 10 matches to be played or a few projectiles to be reflected. That can be done in under half an hour.
Let alone if they play Classic mode once, whoops, there's Jiggly. Or maybe with Mario, oh hello Doc.
Better not be too good at multi man Smash either, or Falco might pop up.
It would be impossible not to unlock characters unless they specifically turn it off, like the recent demo.

Add 5 characters to the Wii U version and make them free DLC for the 3DS version on the launch day of the Wii U version. Have each character get revealed in epic trailers between the two release dates, all costumers will be happy and continue to hype.
Either that or make the Wii U have a TON of cool stages
