Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

That's like their whole moveset.

Not exactly. Especially when you'd still be able to control Nana from grabbing.

Popo down throws, Nana jumps and does a meteor smash (Which now causes a ground bounce), into something else. Things can still be possible that onlt IC can do.

It brought Earthbound to the VC

And the drawings ARE great

I love this

Thank you, based Miiverse

Might as well do that "how much of Nintendo's library have you experienced" poll.

  • Mario: Duh?
  • Yoshi: Yoshi's Island, yes. Didn't really bother with any of the sequels, although I own Yoshi's Story.
  • Wario: Pretty much the entire Land series. I got the first WarioWare game through the Ambassador program and own Smooth Moves (although it's busted). Also own (but never played) Wario World.
  • Donkey Kong: GBC version of the first, SNES version of the second. Beaten neither.
  • Zelda: Most of the series. Skipped Spirit Tracks after disliking Phantom Hourglass, haven't beaten the NES games, Oracle of Ages (linked game) or Skyward Sword (barely started that one, honestly...).
  • Metroid: Most of the series. Haven't beaten Prime 3. Didn't play Other M, although I saw the Wrongpurae, which is more than enough for me.
  • Kirby: Here and there. I own Dream Land, Adventure, Super Star, Nightmare in Dream Land and Amazing Mirror; haven't really dabbled in anything newer.
  • Star Fox: I got my brother the SNES game recently, but beyond that, no, barely touched this franchise at all.
  • Pokemon: I played Yellow and Blue when they were the hip new thing. Haven't touched a single one since.
  • F-Zero: I own all three mainline (SNES and GX physically, X via Wii VC), and have Maximum Velocity via the Ambassador program. I suck at all three and barely play them.
  • Mother: I actually physically own Earthbound (it cost too much!). Haven't finished it; just reached the Deep Darkness last I'd played.
  • Ice Climbers: Ambassador program gave it to me for free. It sucks; those jumping mechanics are stiffer than a man who overdosed on Viagra. I haven't beaten it (although it's clearly one of those games without an ending, so that's kind of meaningless).
  • Fire Emblem: Permadeath turned me off to this series, but I started playing Awakening a few months ago. I'm like halfway through it, somewhere around Chapter 15 or so, I think?
  • Game & Watch: I think I played a Gallery once or twice back in the day. Else, these games can't really hold my attention for more than a single play.
  • Kid Icarus: 3D Classics remake of the first and Uprising; at the third dungeon of the former, finished the Pyrrhon arc of the latter.
  • Pikmin: I own 3 via Mario Kart 8, but haven't actually booted it up.
  • Gyromite: I don't have a ROB.
  • Animal Crossing: Wild World came with my blue DS, but I donated it to my brother; it didn't look like my kind of game. Very charming, though.
  • Wii Fit: I think I tried my mother's copy for all of a day.
  • Punch-Out: I have the NES game via Wii/Wii U VC. Would like to get a copy with Tyson in it, sometime...
  • Xenoblade: Beaten.
  • Wii [Noun]: Sports and Play, but that's about it.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog:
    image.php
  • Metal Gear: Own 2, 3 and Twin Snakes. I've beaten none of them. I get through them so slowly that I often wonder if these games aren't for me.
  • Mega Man: A good chunk of the classic and X series. Legends and Battle Network 2, too (own Legends 2, but the disc refuses to read at a specific point early on, which is aggravating).
  • Pac-Man: I have Ms. Pac-Man on the Genesis, I guess. Also Pac-Man World on the PS1 and World 2 on the PS2, although I've only dabbled with the former of those two.

But allow me to go even further and include Assist Trophies!

  • Brain Age: Dabbled a bit with my mother's copy, but that's about it.
  • Color TV-Game: Has anyone here not played Pong? Although I doubt anyone's played this specific unit, it's still Pong.
  • Custom Robo: Nope.
  • Daigasso! Band Brothers: Nope.
  • Devil World: Nope.
  • Dillon's Rolling Western: Nope.
  • Drill Dozer: Yes, actually! Beat it, too, although not 100%.
  • Excitebike: Got the 3D Classics version while it was free. I don't much like it.
  • For the Frog the Bell Tolls: Dabbled a bit with a fan translation, but only just.
  • Golden Sun: Own a physical cart of the first game. It's bland and I'm totally clueless as to where to go, but it's okay.
  • Kururin: Nope.
  • The Mysterious Murasame Castle: I beat stage 1 on the 3DS VC version. Game is hard!
  • Nintendo Wars: Nope. None of 'em, Advance or otherwise.
  • Nintendogs: Nope, but my brother played a fair bit of the first one as a kid.
  • SimCity: I played the DOS original as a wee tot, but never really cared much for it.
  • Sin and Punishment: Got up to the final stage in the original via Wii VC. Picked up the sequel for $5, but I think it's still shrinkwrapped.
  • Starfy: Picked this up when it came out on the DS, but didn't finish it. Rather charming title, though.

And stages:

  • Electroplankton: Nope.
  • Find Mii: Yes, quite a bit of it. Not too fond of how eager it is to suck out Play Coins if you can't get a good batch of StreetPasses (which is the norm for office workers like myself - your co-workers aren't usually video gamers, so 3DSes are uncommon), but it's okay.
  • Pilotwings: I own carts of all three games. Haven't finished a single one, but they're quite enjoyable.
  • Tomodachi Life: Nope, although a person I follow on Twitter livetweeted her experiences with it for a while. Surreal watching Something Awful personalities get dressed up in hamster suits and like it.

I'd do trophies, but I think I've already gone above-and-beyond the call of duty - no reason to go completely insane.

Might as well do that "how much of Nintendo's library have you experienced" poll.

And stages:

Oh man, didn't even think to do stages.

Stages from games i've never played:
  • New pork city
Stages from areas I've never been to:
  • Halberd? I don't remember playing any kirby level where i'm on halberd
  • If lylat cruise is from the gamecube starfox, then i've never been there. If it's from just the lylat system, then whatever, i've been there in 64
  • Castle siege - I assume it's inspired by fire emblem castles from entries i've never played

Ice climbers ARE chain grabbing
I wonder if it's possible for sakurai to make them viable without chain grabbing :p

Hype for what? This is the calm before the storm period.

Go sit in a quiet room. Turn off all electronic devices. Start thinking about smash bros.

Now, start thinking to yourself 'What if it's leaking right now? What if i'm missing leaks? What if that one newcomer/veteran I want is in the game, and other people know and I don't?'

See how long it takes before you go crazy.

You're not authorized to see Samus impressions.

Nooooo :( Can I at least has Ice Beam? :(

I like plump girls too but this is ridiculous.

There. Those are my impressions.

At least the dress is nice :<

She'll leave an impression alright ( ͠° ͟ل͜ ͡°)

We where only sharing our Fox impressions! lol

I can't even play as fox :( If I pick fox, the opponent can win without touching the controller and just watch me fall of repeatedly :P

For some reason cringe humor makes me laugh harder than generic humor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPme2gSE46U

That all goes on for 14 minutes. I can't even believe it. These people, holy shit!

There's a difference between that kind of cringe humor and stuff like prank calls, though. With that stuff we're meant to be laughing at both of them. Prank calls we're meant to be laughing at the person being pranked and with the person pranking, but a lot of people just find the situation awkward or whatever.

I was trying to make a joke about yiffing but got in a bit late with it. lol

I wake up every day at 4am to see a picture of a menu of a game I won't be able to play for a month lol

I know very well this kind of hype. Just saying, no need to skip class over it, just have your phone set to r/smashbros and refresh it every so often.

The smash calm is about as calm as a tropical storm, before it turns into an F5 on release day or a couple of days before

I've left class for video game hype before. Hell, i've left work for video game hype before.

Wish I had smartphones when I was in school. Then again, maybe I should be glad I didn't have smartphones. I wouldn't have gotten anything done.

Going to do this too.

  • Mario: Played pretty much every mainline Mario ever.
  • Yoshi: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story. Owned but never beat Yoshi's Island DS, and didn't pick up Yoshi's New Island. I'll snag Wooly World though.
  • Wario: Never really got into any of the games with him.
  • Donkey Kong: I beat DKC to 101% as a kid. Never played DKC2 or 3. Pretty far on DKCR on 3DS. Still need to pick up DKC: TF on Wii U.
  • Zelda: Beaten Zelda, Zelda 2, Zelda: ALTTP, Zelda: Link's Awakening, OOT, Windwaker, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and ALBTW.
  • Metroid: Beaten everything except for Metroid Prime Hunters.
  • Kirby: I played and beat Kirby's Adventure, Kirby 64, and Kirby Superstar.
  • Star Fox: Nothing really outside of Star Fox 64
  • Pokemon: I've played blue back in the day, and heart gold a couple years back. Started black a bit ago, but not very far in it.
  • F-Zero: Played the SNES and 64 versions, but never owned them.
  • Mother: Beaten all three games. I own a physical version of Earthbound (used to own the box and guide too but parents tossed them out when they moved like idiots). I own a reproduction version of Mother (Earthbound 0) that actually came with a box/instructions and plays the English version on the NES. I also own the Japanese version of Mother 3, and a reproduction cart of the English fan translation that came with a pretty cool box and plays on a GBA/DS Lite.
  • Ice Climbers: Played it and have it on Wii VC. Don't really like it.
  • Fire Emblem: Never played one. I don't really like permadeath. I own Awakening though. I might start it up soon.
  • Game & Watch: I just know him through Smash. Never played G&W gallery stuff.
  • Kid Icarus: Played and beat the first one, own the second one but never gotten far in it, and own Uprising but didn't get very far in it.
  • Pikmin: I own all 3, but only have played the 3rd one. I am near the end of it.
  • Gyromite: I don't have a ROB.
  • Animal Crossing: Spent hundreds of hours on the first one for GCN, but never really have recaptured the magic with the others.
  • Wii Fit: Never touched it.
  • Punch-Out: I have the first one on VC and the one that came out for Wii.
  • Xenoblade: Before it was announced for America I soft-modded my Wii and bought the European collector's edition. I also bought the American one when it came out just to support the series. I plan to buy the 3DS version and Xenoblade Chronicles X is my most anticipated future game.
  • Wii [Noun]: I played Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort with family and friends who don't really like gaming.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog: I beat Sonic 1 and 2 as a kid, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 as a teenager, but that's about it. I won't get sucked into the Sonic cycle anymore.
  • Metal Gear: I own 1, 2, 3, 4, Portable Ops, Peace Wallker, and MGSV: GZ. I've beaten all but Peace Walker and GZ.
  • Mega Man: I've actually only beaten the very first Mega Man. I own the collection on GameCube that has all 8 of them.
  • Pac-Man: Haven't played one since the originals.

Here's the updated points list for the poll:

vaqpfs.png

Lucas only beat Marth by one point! Tonight's winner in turn only has two more points than Lucas, so things have stayed pretty close the whole way through.

Was Shrek popular in Japan? Because Sakurai and the guys at Nintendo and working on Smash read Miiverse, or so they say, right? I'm wondering what they think when they see all the Shrek fan art. lmao.

Wish I had smartphones when I was in school. Then again, maybe I should be glad I didn't have smartphones. I wouldn't have gotten anything done.

I didn't have smart phones in school, but I use mine to check the daily without getting out of bed.

Back in high school I used to wake up early for school and turn on my ancient computer that took 20 minutes to boot just to check the brawl dojo lol. I wished I had a device that was convenient back then.

Wake up at 4am, check the pic, process it a little or use the bathroom, back to sleep by 4:10. Without it, I'd just lay there wondering what I'm missing.

I desperately need help SmashGAF. I will pay whomever can assist me handsomely (with gratitude).

Here's the deal:

My Pikachu 3DS XL has been acting up. Actually over the course of the past few months it's become worse. The area between the ABXY buttons and the power button cause the system to emit a loud crack/pop when any kind of pressure or movement occurs and the system powers off. It's unplayable.

So I tried to call Nintendo to set up a repair. Turns out, phone towers in my area for many service providers aren't working properly (or so I've been told) and pretty much none of the students here can send a call out. It's bizarre I know.

Would someone with a working phone be gracious enough to call Nintendo with my information and set up my repair for me? I'm trying to get this thing sent out as soon as possible so I have it back before Smash but if I wait for the phones to start working again I fear that may not happen.

Anybody willing to help me out? I'd provide you with all the information you'll need.

Heh, dojo was great. I remember being on vacation, and we'd take this laptop to some beach house down the street that had open wifi so we could see the dojo update.

Simon belmont, here we go! Also, lol, we're 2/16, 18 if you count brit/ charlie as 2 more

Like Fireblend and Geolry said.

I can't take all credits. Zroid and Xane are huge helpers this time.

I would have given them credit, but I didn't know the names of the people you were working with. Now that I know, i'll give credit where credit is due!
