Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

Don't worry, all Nintendo fans that liked Snake in Brawl will actually get a chance to play MGSV when it comes out for the Wi- oh, nevermind.

Believe me I would like to see the Metal Gear Games on Nintendo as well.
But the stuff that is there is good though.

Hey man it works both ways.
If snake hadn't been in brawl my interest in nintendo products would be at a low like it was before his inclusion. I actually bought a Wii along with other games because he was in Smash. Then I bought a WiiU because that purchase got me into nintendo far more than I used to be.

Nuh-uh. That's gonna be Dark Pit.

WONDER-EYEEEESSSS SMASH

There's something really disheartening about Lucas' exclusion. I know Mother 3 didn't release outside of Japan and is a fairly niche game, all things considered, but Lucas still has some innate connection to the Smash Bros. series that I can't quite articulate. He was supposed to be in Melee (well, whatever version of him existed for the N64 version of Mother 3), and when he finally made it into Brawl, he was given a fairly major role in the Subspace Emissary alongside two Mother 3 bosses. It's weird seeing a game that was so heavily featured in the previous Smash Bros. completely disappear from the series, going from a character, stage, and two bosses to nothing at all.

Fully agree. Both sad and surreal.

contrary to popular belief, Lucas isn't all that liked in Japan, even in his own game.

i'm vaguely aware of this and it just aggravates me

they should freaking get it!

It's just what you wanted!

Be careful what you wish for. Except for Bomberman dying, that wasn't what I wanted :P.

So you bought a Wii and Brawl just because Snake was in it? That's interesting, I wonder how many others did something like that with Sonic or Mega Man.

Huh, I'm surprised so few people played Metal Gear games. Try them guys, they're crazy. Original MGS is pretty dated by now, but MGS2 is absolutely insane and MGS3 is one of the best games ever. Also, few games can boast as ridiculous attention to detail as MGS2. Aaand as a bonus they allow a peak into the mind of master troll, Hideo Kojima. Immersing into the series makes his antics seem even crazier.

I've played every game represented in Smash Bros except a Fire Emblem that stars Marth and Ike, and... Gyromite. Oh and G&W, unless the collections on Game Boy count.

Played:
Mario: Played 'em all. Mario's Time Machine anyone? No? No.
Yoshi: Just Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's story :)
Poop, Let the Man Poop
Wario: Pretty much everything except the last portable, wii, and wii u games.
Donkey Kong: All the 2D platformers. Don't care for the retro games much actually.
Zelda: My favorite series! I dislike Twilight Princess the most, but I think its still a better game than Zelda II... I guess :P
Pokemon: I've owned one on every portable console. I don't think i've gotten passed the 5th gym on any of them.
Mother: Love Earthbound and Mother 3. Never played Mother 1, but my Mother 3 cartridge is sitting in my Gameboy Player now!
Metroid: Played them all. Never beat Other M or Metroid II though. Super Metroid still one of the GOAT.
Kirby: I actually never really played more than about half an hour of a Kirby game...
Star Fox: Only like 64 and Assault.
F Zero: Only played the SNES one, and only recently because it was $0.30 on Wii U! I really like it though.
Fire Emblem: I tried one a long time ago I think on the GBA. I just remember liking Lyn. Didnt play much, I'm terrible at strategy games and I dont enjoy them.
Kid Icarus: I did not like KI: U AT ALL. Like nothing about the game felt good or fun to me. And no, the controls were no issue.
Punch Out: NES and SNES games are both wonderful! I need to get around to the Wii game someday.
Metal Gear: Own them all on PS3, only played the first one on gamecube like 10 years ago lol
Sonic: Most sonics. All of them up until the last generation of consoles + Generations. I grew up with a Genesis.
Animal Crossing: Played the DS one extensively. That's about it.
Pacman: yes! of course! Love pac-man.
Duckhunt: Yup. That dog. I will play him just to laugh at people.
Pikmin: Did not like Pikmin 1, really enjoyed the others.
Mii's: Who hasn't played Wii Sports?

Haven't Played:
Ice Climbers: I think I have it somewhere... Never played it though hahaha
Wii Fit: Well, I played the balance one where you just sit on the board lol
ROB: Nope. Not young enough to have grown up with an NES, but i somehow doubt I would've had ROB anyways.
Xenoblade: Waiting on *new* 3DS at this point.
Game and Watch: Nope :( someday!

I've already seen quite a few in here saying that about Megaman. I'm sure Sonic pushed a few people as well. If not for the system more than likely to actually play Smash if they haven't.

It's one of the reason's I enjoy third party inclusions in anything.
Since it can bring in a lot of fans on either side.

Wonder Red / The Wonderful 100
4th Place (Victory Music!)

Notable Appearences
The Wonderful 101 (2013)

Bio
Wonder Red, real name Will Wedgewood, is the main hero of The Wonderful 101, a member of the CENTINELS Planetary Secret Service, and the young leader of the Wonderful 100. Having just joined the Wonderful Ones after finishing a year of comprehensive training, Earth Defense War III is his first experience in combat. Though technically still a rookie, he is extremely gifted, achieving a record score in both the written and field sections of the CENTINEL tactical examinations. However, his inexperience has led Blue and Green to doubt his abilities as a leader on more than one occasion. Brimming with passion for justice, he takes a firm stance against those who threaten peace, but his by-the-books attitude and serious personality can occasionally rub people the wrong way.

What NeoGAF Says

tumblr_mo9mh1SiEl1r4lj47o1_500.gif

Congrats, Wonder Red and all other members of The Wonderful 100!

Previous Newcomer Nominations Click on them to find out more!

GAF is on FIRE with these polls. The primary Wonderful Ones or even just Wonder Red with cameos from Blue, Green, Pink, Yellow, White & Black would be a spectacular character addition. With Sakurai already embracing stance characters in Shulk's B button swaps, I don't see why this couldn't be taken to the next level with a down B (hold B and draw with stick) unite morph cycling through the weaponry of the lead characters.

What's more, it'd be a great way of highlighting Nintendo's new era of partner relationships (because let's face it, Bayonetta's never going to be in Smash and the Wonderful Ones are Nintendo owned) and would allow Smash's OST to truly be complete with gems like Tables Turn and Final Vorkken Battle.

The Zipzo guy said that Villager's up special is OP. I don't get that. Isn't it the one with the balloons? Always seemed worthless to me.

It seems really good for recovery, however I have a feeling good players will be able to easily take care of the balloons if they wanted to.

I have to agree with this. Not that I would expect him over Ness, but the fact that he was removed makes no sense. Considering that Gematsu was likely early info, it seemed that he was the first cut over even Wolf. I'm like wat.

D1 commented on this and said when you go on the top platform in Battlefield, double jump, and use it, then it's good for stalling. I presume you could go under the stage, too. The faster you press it the faster you go up, so you have a lot of control over your movement.

Heheh, that's kinda what made me think that. I had written 'and Capcom' before I changed it.

I'd love to see a Nintendo led Mega Man (from any of the sub-series), VJ, Okami, or even Resident Evil. Nintendo is generally pretty good about maintaining franchises, in spite of Other M etc. Plus it'd lead to tons of cool SSB characters.
I'd rather see what Capcom would do with Mario.
That'd be interesting too. Capcom still has rare glimmers of excellence, but it feels like they haven't done much in a long time.

Might as well join the fun since everyone is doing it:

Mario: Too many to list. Never played SMB2 thought
Zelda: All of them except Link's Awakening and Between Worlds
Metroid: All of the except for Metroid II
Donkey Kong: All of them except for DKC3
Pokemon: All of them except for D/P/Pt. I was a bit burnt out from Pokemon at that time. Fully back on board now thought.
Yoshi: Most of them except for Yoshi's New Island
StarFox: Star Fox 64 only
Kid Icarus: Both NES and Uprising. I also have to state that both games are some of the greatest of all time.
Kirby: original GB and Nightmare in Dreamland only
Fire Emblem: Every single one since they began to get localized
Punch Out: NES one on Animal Crossing
Wario: Original one for GBA only. Never played a Wario Land game.
Earthbound: Nope
Gyromite (ROB): Nope.
Ice Climbers: One of the first video games I ever played
Pikmin: Pikmin 1 and 3.
Sonic: Never played a Sonic game in my life. The modern series mediocrity has completely turned me away.
Metal Gear: Twin Snakes and Snake Eater
Animal Crossing: All of them except for City Folk. I love New Leaf more than anyone should ever love a video game
Wii Fit: Surprisingly yes.
Xenoblade: One of the greatest games of all time.
Megaman: I haven't played a single Mega Man game :/
Pac-Man: Pac-Man World 2 and every arcade game included there
Duck Hunt: The third game I ever played Only Tetris and SMB came before it.
F-Zero: All of them. F-Zero GX is the GREATEST game of all time. I hate you all for not buying it :(
Game&Watch: Nope

Been a Nintendo fan since I was 6 years old, so I have play almost everything there is.

The Zipzo guy said that Villager's up special is OP. I don't get that. Isn't it the one with the balloons? Always seemed worthless to me.

Bad for attacking (I assume), but some incredible recovery power. The downside is people can pop your balloons and leave you helpless, but in a free-for-all match they're going to be busy with one another and you're going to be able to recover from just about anything.

However, Zipzo might also have been referring to using it as an attack, which we don't know much about yet. If it works like Balloon Fight, maybe hitting people with the Villager's feet while floating deals a ton of damage or spikes or something.

And the F-Zero; just hammers in the backing of no new F-Zero games.

I'm a gigantic fan of F-Zero but I still don't really see the need for more F-Zero characters. I think Captain Falcon does the series enough justice.

WTF?!

I need to buy this game.

You haven't played the game yet but you still looked at my spoiler? I mean, thankfully it really isn't anything spoiler-y, but you gotta be more careful, man!

The Zipzo guy said that Villager's up special is OP. I don't get that. Isn't it the one with the balloons? Always seemed worthless to me.
He also said, that the focus of SSB4 will be the fight over the edge. The blast zones are very far away and you can very hard kill opponent by simple launching them to the side. That's why Village has some great advantages with his recovery moves. Lloid Rocket gives him great horizontal and the balloon great overall recovery options. So he can easier go over the edge and get the KO or has a better time returning and doge opponents.
But its still not OP in my opining. The village can't attack, while moving the balloon, and great player will try to hit the balloons. It becomes kind of link a game of Balloon Fight with the Villager =)

I'm just wondering: since Gematsu said Chrom would be playable (something considered very early in development) and didn't know Greninja's name, would it be possible that the leaker somehow only found out about the roster very early on (first few months), but wasn't involved with the game after that? It seems much more likely than having a developer not know a playable character's name despite working on it for more than a year.
What's the general consensus about this?
