Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

So is Miku supposed to be one of those waifu things that I keep hearing about?

This poll is fun

Mario: I've played most of the mainline games, from NES to Arcade to Wii U. This includes spinoffs like Kart, the RPGs, and other sports games. This is one of my favorite franchises

Yoshi: I've played some of his games on DS but honestly don't have as strong a connection to him as other people. I will change and play Yoshi's Story eventually.

Wario: Warioware is awesome, I've owned three our four of them. I may pick up the Warioland games too

Donkey Kong: Donkey Kong GB is one of my favorite GameBoy games ever (as it is for someone else here too). I had a blast with DK64, and even picked up Jungle Beat. I also loved the Country games and Land games for GB. I will get the ones on Wii when I can

Game and Watch: I have no idea who this is outside of Super Smash Bros. He is the Betty Boop of video games to me. I still revere him as a Nintendo character.

Zelda: I have an ever growing respect for The Legend of Zelda as a franchise. Beating A Link to the Past is a crowning achievement of my life. I also enjoyed Minish Cap, the DS games, and I have an incredibly deep love for Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. I'm currently playing Wind Waker and will one day fix the greatest oddity of my life by playing Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.

Metroid: I loved the GBA games. I borrowed the GC game but got stuck and couldn't complete it. It was a lot of fun and unlike anything I ever played, but I can't see myself reaching out to put it in my backlog. I would strongly consider buying a new one.

Kid Icarus: I plan to buy Kid Icarus for 3DS

Fire Emblem: Truly a classic game. I loved it on GBA, DS, and GC. I need to pick up the DS version.

Kirby: I have a strange relationship with Kirby games in that I love them all but I have only beaten a few (Kirby 64 and one or two on GBA/DS). Will buy Triple Deluxe when the backlog clears up. I separately love Kirby as a character and his universe.

Little Mac: I don't really have a strong connection with him

Star Fox: I've played some of his DS games. I didn't grow up with Star Fox 64 so I don't have the same affinity for him. I'd consider a good, new Star Fox game though

Pokemon: I love this series to the point that words will not do me justice.

Duck Hunt: Very fun on NES

ROB: what is this i don't even. Pretty cool in Brawl

Mother: I will only look into this when it seems like we can play the series in America.

F-Zero: Fun to play with my friends, but I never picked it up myself

Animal Crossing: Not sure what the deal is with this game. I was looking forward to it, but it's just not my thing right now.

Pikmin: I want to, but haven't.

Wii Fit: I'm glad Nintendo sells a bunch of these but I will go to the gym.

Dr. Mario: Played it on GameBoy or PC or calculator or something. Not really a franchise.

Xenoblade: I am in the middle of it. I think the game has some issues that prevent me from lauding it like everyone else. I am in the middle of a huge hiatus from it, and I don't know when I will pick it back up. I will listen out to see if my criticisms are addressed in Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Pac-Man: One of the funnest games of all time.

Mega Man: I've played it but never really got in deep. I'm willing to go through the backlog on this game but it's not a priority.

Sonic: I really liked Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and wanted to play a sequel. I've been waiting for a good sequel to come out for a long time now. The originals on Genesis/Saturn were fun

Metal Gear Solid: This is the only series I would really consider buying a non-Nintendo console for. But it's still too big a reach.

Ice Climbers: Cute but foreign

No anime in my Smash, guys

  • Mario: I've played almost all the core titles - SMB1-3, World, 64, Sunshine, Galaxy/2 and 3D Land. SMB2 is the only one I haven't finished. 3D World is on a console I don't yet own. I did play about 4 levels at EGX last year, though! Played most of the various spin-offs - Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Mario and Luigi and so on. It's a pretty good set of games, to say the least of it.
  • Zelda: Again, all the core ones (TLoZ, II, ALttP, OoT, MM, WW, TP, SS and ALBW). Most of the side titles too; only one I haven't played yet is Oracles of Seasons. Oh, and Four Swords Adventures. Easily my favourite game series; Majora's Mask is my favourite game of all time. Can't wait for Zelda U.
  • Donkey Kong: Played the original 1981 game, of course. Plus some DK Jr. Math (thanks a bunch, Animal Crossing). Donkey Kong Country 1 is a cool game, but Returns is waaaaaay better. Wish I could play Jungle Beat. :(
  • Yoshi: Yoshi's Island is so good. Wonder why they never made any sequels...
  • Wario: WarioWare Inc. on the Gamecube is the secret best multiplayer game. So fucking funny. The DS game was all right too. Snapped though... what a mistake that was.
  • Metroid: Super Metroid is probably the best designed game of all time. So damn good. Prime 2 freaks the crap out of me, Prime 3 is a lot easier and linear but I still love it. Never played Prime 1... or the original Metroid, its remake, its sequel or Fusion. Haven't played Other M either, but I don't plan on fixing that.
  • Kirby: Woefully uneducated when it comes to Kirby, but Power Paintbrush is one of my favourite DS games. Such a good idea, and I'm thrilled to see it return on Wii U.
  • Pokemon: My love for Pokemon will never die. I've been with this since Red and Blue and I've never missed a new game, if you don't count B2W2 anyway. I find it hard to be critical about this series; I've grown up with it in a big way and I love it basically unconditionally. Always thrilled to see it in Smash.
  • Star Fox: Never played any of it, but I'll still insist on calling it Lylat Wars.
  • F-Zero: I've only played GX. GX is too fucking hard. It's great but it's too fucking hard. :(
  • MOTHER: Only played Mother 3. The English translation was so damn good. Brilliant game, incredibly moving. Kind of bummed to see Lucas given the boot from Smash 4 for that reason. He's been through enough, damn it.
  • Ice Climber: zzzzzz. Most of the black box games besides SMB and Balloon Fight I couldn't care less about.
  • Fire Emblem: Awakening is cool. Where's the SMT crossover.
  • Game & Watch: I had one of the Game and Watch Gallery games on Game Boy. It had Flagman and Cement Factory, amongst possibly others. I definitely liked Cement Factory a whole bunch. Simple games, clearly, but even then some great design shone through.
  • Kid Icarus: The first one is OK, though the maze sections of the game sure are rough compared to Metroid. Uprising, though... totally different game, but the writing and the action are far better defined than I ever expected to see. Just a thoroughly endearing game, hence why I'll let the whole Dark Pit thing slide for Smash.
  • Pikmin: Haven't played any.
  • R.O.B.: Noooooo idea.
  • Animal Crossing: Gamecube game blew my mind as a young teenager. It was just so... pleasant. I dunno what about it hooked me, but I think it was the lack of knowledge about what would come next in the shops or from a villager, I guess. The online aspect of the recent titles took some of that out of it, I think, but that level of communication sure is a nice replacement. New Leaf felt like a welcome kick-up-the-arse, considering Wild World and the Wii shitpile have scarce new ideas.
  • Sonic: 3&Knuckles is the best 2D game, and CD is good damn it! Played all the Mega Drive games, plus a lot of the 3D ones. Everything before Generations is cack (or I haven't played it, Colours fans).
  • Metal Gear: Love MGS3. MGS2 has its head too far up its own arse, sorry. It's daft, but they know it too much.
  • Wii Fit: The minigames in + are incredible. About it for me.
  • Punch Out!!: Sadly, nothing to say here.
  • Xenoblade: Sweet game, but too damn long. So many sidequests! I have to play more. I really like the combat.
  • Mega Man: Only played 2, 3 and 9. Amazing music. I wish the games were a bit more forgiving?
  • Pac-Man: EVERYONE GO PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION DX+ NOW. No, I don't care that it's not on Nintendo stuff. It's incredible and makes Pac-Man relevant in modern gaming.

Didn't Jedi Link mention he didn't really care whether or not Sah honored the bet or not? Still hilarious though LOL
Your memory is correct. 15 minutes of fame and GAF laughing at SuperSah is enough to satisfy me.
Although it would be nice if I had a scene in the fanfic where I kill him in an epic duel or something.

And if y'all are wondering why I got banned, here is the exact post. Completely unrelated to SmashGAF.

Bowser's only child and his seven helpers.

Actually? Recent Japanese media (for example, the Japanese MK8 Direct) referred to the 7 as Bowser's "Kobun". In Yakuza parlance, that designates a non-blood "father-child" bond, which still doesn't really go against the original SMB3 "story" of how Bowser referred to them as "his children", while Miyamoto goes on to clarify that Junior is his only biological one.

And considering Nintendo has never gone through the trouble of updating the SMB3 story among any of its various re-releases (including VC ports), I think the "Kobun" angle is as good of an answer we'll ever get regarding that much. It keeps things simple.

I was going to post some anime pictures of various "non anime" characters like Peach and Rosalina with some kind of "waifu" post... but everything was too overly sexual

Darn it anime

I found Sakurai guys.
What's with all these animes taking our slots
says guy with anime in his ava

I kid
Pit, shulk, palutena, Robin :P
Is Ike anime enough?
But Shulk's already in the game.
I had trouble reading your post because my eyes kept getting drawn towards your avatar containing two characters whose designs have clear anime inspirations =]

Okay, you guys have a point. Let me rephrase that: no non-videogame-originated anime in Smash, guys

Guessing by the pace of this thread nothing leaked yet.

It's 9 am in japan, shipments could be arriving at any moment. One of them COULD have smash bros on it. Will it? Who knows!

I still raise you Sonico, sure she started off as a mascot, but she had a game way before she had an anime,

Sonicomi(PC): 2011
SoniAni(anime): 2014

Considering the shit snakes get having been on Nintendo systems.
I can't see a PC only character even being a discussion at this point.
Miku is lucking out because of the Project Mirai games.

Didn't you hear, Gen Urobuchi is directing the Shaft produced Subspace Emissary 2; the thrilling anime sequel to the 2008 hit game Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Oh, thats nice. I thought it was something about
Ridley
, and that would be a bad thing
