Fun Fact: when I started up New Leaf I decided to name my town "Threeds"
(it's three + DS),
but no one got the joke and people thought I was referencing Earthbound. I never knew what they were talking about.

Well, you can keep avatar betting. You don't take your current avatar off, you wait it out, then once that time is up. You switch to the new avatar that you lost from making bets while wearing one that you lost from previously. Lol.

Basically adding time to your avatar wearing. XD

  • If the game leaks and it's NOT your day (you choose Tue, it leaks Thur), then AS SOON AS IT LEAKS (not sooner, so if you choose tue, and it leaks thur, you don't lose until it leaks on thur), you lose your avatar.
  • If the game DOES NOT LEAK (releases sat) nobody wins or loses.
  • You wear the new avatar until ONE WEEK FROM THE LEAK DAY.

That's about the only similarity they have. Judging from your preferences, you enjoy RPGs that are light, quick, and punchy. Earthbound is mostly all that.

Not to mention if Paper Mario's humor appeals to you then I'd say EB is right in your sweet spot. It's the bizarre, intoxicating humor that I believe hooks most of the diehards. Give it a shot sometime!
 
I have a source that tells me Doshin the Giant, Savvy Stylist, eShop bag, Wii Street U dude, and Ridley are all going to be unlockable characters that weren't shown in the leak. You can trust my source because Ridley is in and you really want that to happen.

* Monita - Nintendoland. Attacks with abilities based on the various minigames from the game including sending the luigi's mansion minigame ghost out in a way similar to Zelda's phantom slash move. Also has 'dark monita' alt

Yeah, only 4 more. There might have been extra but that's as far as they got before they lost consciousness. It's from a homeless spirit medium so you know it has to be legit :3

I love Melt, and while some may call it overrated, I would love Black☆Rock Shooter too

I actually really like 1925 for finding all the references, but if we had to get a Supercell song besides Melt, Parade of Liars would make for good contrast

Amazing how we're down to three and I can seriously see a various combination of eight different characters up here. I think it's ultimately going to be the good Captain, one of the space animals and Link at the top. At the same time I find it shocking that Shiek/Zelda would have fallen so far. After the Earthbound shenanigans I find it possible that both Fox and Falco made it this far, but at the same time wasn't Fox one of the final contenders for the voteless mook? And on top of all that you're telling me that Wario, Bowser and Donkey Kong missed the top twenty
two
completely?

Captain Falcon, Link, Space Animal in that order, but I haven't gotten one of these right since Pit, so what do I know?

Okay, large post incoming!

Some of you might remember that, a little over a month ago, I did a for-fun thing where I counted all the times each character has appeared in the Pics of the Day and listed those totals here. I said I'd update the totals in a month, but instead of doing that, I actually decided to scrap the whole thing and go bigger: count the times each character has appeared in the Pics of the Day plus the pics on each character page and the pics on the rest of the website, like in the How to Play, Assist Trophy, Pokémon, etc. sections.

It's been fairly time-consuming and I've had to chip away at it around work, but I'm finally finished! So without further ado, I present to you a list that will answer all-important questions like "How much does Sakurai love or hate my favorite character?" and "Does 'Sakurai bias' exist, and if so, how severe is it?"

Disclaimer: This list does not actually answer those questions and is just for fun. But I can tell you the answer to the second question right here: no, it does not. :P

A couple things to keep in mind:

- One pic that is divided into multiple sections (like Pac-Man's taunt or Little Mac's combos) are only counted as one appearance of that character.

- When the same character appears more than once in the same picture, each appearance is counted separately. (So the recent PotDs with all eight of Samus's alt colors counts as eight appearances for Samus!)

- I decided to combine and count all three variations of the Mii Fighters together, since it is quite hard to tell on several occasions which version a Mii Fighter is by just looking at them. Mii Gunner definitely appears the most of the three, though.

- If the same pic appears more than once and was used for different purposes (for example, the Nightmare Wizard pic appears as both a PotD and on the Assist Trophies page), both appearances are counted.

- Even if only an element of a character's moveset is visible in a pic (and not the character itself), that counts as an appearance of that character. (For example, seeing only Pikmin counts as an appearance for Olimar, and seeing only Rush counts as an appearance for Mega Man.)

- Obviously these results are heavily skewed by when characters were revealed (characters revealed later generally rank lower), but there are still some interesting discrepancies... the relative lack of Marth's, Lucario's, and Greninja's appearances, for example!

- I don't guarantee that these results are 100% accurate, but they're pretty darn close!
