I like Destiny a lot, great shooting mechanics and rewards players for exploration. One thing though, what happens after hitting level 20? Is it a rep grind from there on out? I might be wrong, but the missions seem really few. Im already level 11 after a day of playing.

I'm also a tad disappointed in the lack of story and the fact that I can't interact with people besides waiving, dancing and pointing. I also wish the enemies would scale after your level, there's no point in visiting Earth anymore since the enemies are way too low leveled right?

Great game though and i'm going to play it for a very long time ahead.

Enemies don't scale to your level, but past a certain point you stop getting stronger relative to them, sorta. You still get new abilities, and your guns can get better sub powers, but past a certain point your gun stop gaining damage effectiveness.

So far, I think there's a good game inside here. Not great. I love the feel of the guns and the world has great detail. I find the combat satisfying and I'm digging the abilities and upgrades.

I just find the mission structure kind of dry and repeptitive, though I don't know if that'd shaken up later. The story and lore seems pretty terrible too. Just feels like I'm given a laundry list of chores without making a real impact on the world. Am I alone in that feeling?

Okay, question. If I'm level 10 playing with my friends who just started and I'm helping them out, do I negatively impact their experience in any way?

Point I'm making is that Halo is decent sci-fi, objectively. And the story is told competently in the mainline Bungie games. It's nothing mind blowing, but the world building makes up for it.

Bungie should have learned from the "weakest" aspect of Halo and improved upon it. Having an interesting story is very important because it can mask gameplay flaws for a lot of people and get them to finish the game. Also, it makes the franchise more amenable to other formats of media. Halo didn't get all that I listed because it revolutionized console shooter gameplay.

I don't know. The A to B story here of the game is pretty rote, but the background world building is incredible, IMHO. I think they have a lot of potential to broaden its story.

If anyone is wondering where the vanguard / red sparrow / extra emblems are, even if it appears they downloaded, I had to go into my download queue which showed the download had failed, cancel the download then start them off again from my download list.

Prior to that they appeared to have downloaded and installed according to my ps4 dashboard, but the items weren't available in game from the postmaster / vanguard quartermaster.
Ah, thanks. I'll have to try this. The whole thing with the downloads seemed not-quite-right to me and I was wondering why it hadn't worked properly.

Looks like they prioritized the multiplayer experience over telling story. If the story was driving you forward constantly you'd be less apt to bounce around missions and take a brake and go crucible. Not saying its a great move, but I can understand the approach

Thanks!

The planets just feels small, and I wish there was a minimap one could look at sometimes.

7 hours of work left... i can almost smell that new disc and steelbook case... mmmmm... im so fucking pumped to join up with DGAF soony!!

How and when does one join a faction? I see you can turn in bounties for extra rep for your faction if you're wearing their gear, but how do you get their gear, and how do you align with a faction to begin with?

what the hell, there's NO audio options? Dinklage is yelling in my ear all the time way-way-way louder than my buddies in voice chat...

Why no audio volume slider? Amateur hour...

I'd say the music is worse as when it gets going it starts to drown down everything else. Good thing its a pretty good score at least.

Reached Level 20 and just found some op gear ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Wow, a lot of people are blasting their way to 20 in about a day. I understand the meat of the game is finding gear to over-level, but I'm just surprised you can get to 20 so quickly.

It goes in one ear and right out the other. Its all a bit vague and doesn't establish any real dramatic stakes whatsoever. Offhand remarks and jargon that don't mean anything to you. Press this button, press that button, what does it do? Who knows? Who cares? Monotone robot pal thing...its bad

Ah, kinda what I expected from the beta.

Yes you can, you just have to start a new one first.

Switch/create new ones by hovering over "Log Out" and choosing "Character Select".

I thought the same thing, but after making a second character, it "unlocks" the option to delete either character. It's still a pain that you can't just change some character options at the Tower with some kind of barbershop vendor.

Good to know. Would still prefer the barber though.

Sounds like your typical MMO!

Are there any reviews out yet from the publishers? I assume some of them will try to get reviews out ASAP.

Halo has a clearly communicated storyline and a well realized canon. 13 years, dozens of books and comics and animation and television productions don't come from a "bad story."

None of this points to quality. The storytelling in everything except for Halo 1 was laughable. Halo 1 was good because it wasn't so in your face or trying so hard. The books and ties ins are whatever. Twilight is all over the place because it makes money. There are Halo books because they make money, not because the story was good.

I found that PvP doesn't feel terrible once you find a suitable weapon. I couldn't break a KDR of 1.0 with my trash Scout Rifle.
But now that I found this Auto Rifle with a rather insane rate of fire, I've been killing it. I'm having a much better time playing the missions on Hard, too.

Shame that the first rare item that I got happened to be a Pulse Rifle that doesn't seem better than this at a glance.

Why does it feel like max level players are not hitting that much harder than low levels?

IIRC, everyone is on a level playing field in Crucible and the Iron Banner lets you use your upgrades. I could be wrong though.

And if you're talking about in PVE then I have no idea.

Edit: changed skills to upgrades since that could be interpreted as your super

That's what I expected to hear. The canon sounded interesting in the run up to release, and this isn't Bungie's first rodeo.

Really digging it, finished up Earth last night (minus the strike).

It's exactly what I expected: a fun-to-play shooter with some loot.

I believe you need to be level 20.

Ok guys. Me and my buddy have originally planned to wait for the Division to purchase a PS4 but this game is the only other one that could actually make or break our decision. So I'd like to ask: Can you play with your friends even though your levels are completely far apart or do they have to catch up to you for a co-op session?

I've been super critical of Destiny for a while now but in a moment of weakness yesterday I succumbed to the hype and preordered the game. Luckily I came to my senses a few hours later and canceled. IF I still want to play the game, it looks like I should be able to pick up a cheap used copy in a week or so. The preorder bonuses appear to be garbage so I'm not even missing out on that.

Destiny has finally cured me of my preorder fever. I don't think I'll ever preorder a game again. You get the extra risk of buying a crappy game with very little upside. If Destiny had turned out to be happiness in physical form I could have ordered the digital version today and been playing within hours with little fuss.

I feared that it would be repetitive damn can you get refunds on X1 digital purchases rather have hard copy so i can sell it

The newest hilarious turn in the Destiny PS3->PS4 unlocking debacle: People who pre-ordered the game are the ones who will have to wait until Wednesday night (or probably Thursday in EU), while people who buy the PS3 version now get the PS4 version right away.

The impressions are about what I expected, nothing world changing but a good Bungie shooter to have fun with is just fine with me. Although I have to admit I'm a little bummed that Bungie didn't come up with something game changing like they did with matchmaking in Halo 2 or the theater/forge in Halo 3.
