Any ps4 console buyers having issues with the vanguard code? It redeems but when I hit download the shop shows error.. All my other dlc worked.

Is it weird that I enjoy just sitting and listening to the ambient noise in the Tower? I had to stop playing for a few minutes to answer some emails, and there was something just kind of relaxing about it.

How do I start a clan on bungie.net? I've started a group, but don't see how to start a clan or even invite my friends to the group.

I think I'd say I can't really tell if it's bad- it's hard to follow. Still very early on but the delivery of it honestly has more in common with Monster Hunter or PSO than with Halo. It's not the game's strong suit.

Yeah.. it's.... noise.

You start a mission, someone is telling you some motivation. Then you kill monsters, press X to deploy ghost, kill the horde.. someone is telling how a good job you did.. and that's it.

7 hours and 18 levels later and it's still the same as the first mission on old russia.

So is the story actually BAD or is it simply poorly told? It sounds like they simply don't do much with it.

My take on it is that the individual plot summaries are pretty cool (
get woken from the dead to fight aliens with space magic, rediscover an ancient super-AI tasked with defending the Earth, go to the moon to discover and defuse an incoming invasion of spacemagic zombies,
) but it's just told so deeply, incredibly poorly that it gets rendered into this mess.

That's a travesty in my eyes. I absolutely detest the way those games go about telling a story simply because you never actually feel as if there is a point to anything. You're just doing missions with no frame-work.

Beginning to think this may end up in the 70's. It's fun to play, but the missions are just ehhh. Starting to think if you've played one you've played them all.

Both my limited edition, and ghost editions are scheduled to be delivered today. I was wondering if anyone had received their Vanguard Armory codes from Amazon yet?? I haven't seen an email yet..

Thanks,

Nick

This is exactly what I pointed out earlier as a strong suit of Halo. The story is clearly communicated and you always know the stakes. This was Bungie's strength with the mainline Halo trilogy and was something I expected to be expanded upon in Destiny. Perhaps centralizing the story's POV around one character made it easier for them to tell the story.

There is a Destiny code thread now.

I might be the minority here but I was having a blast last night playing the same area I've played three or four times already. Something about this game just clicks with me. I love it.
I don't know about minority/majority really, but I did this too (got the "do 6 patrol missions" bounty and just went around looking for them all in a row) and had a blast. definitely a game that nails my personal idea of fun.

If anything my main complaint so far is one I haven't seen voiced a single time.. I'd like to be able to do missions at an even higher difficulty than Hard going through them, like +5 levels higher than the normal version, for the challenge. But I am sure missions get tougher just as the game progresses regardless. looking forward to strikes and the raid for sure.

One thing i don't get:

Why lv 3 enemies drop stuff at my level?

I'm 18. What's the point on going on mars when i can keep killing mobs on old russia and get the same stuff?

If I delete a character will all the emblems, vehicles etc that came with the Ghost Edition, they'll still be available for my new one yeah? They exist for that specific account right? and not for the character?

If someone from Bungie that posts here can help me with my missing PS4 Expansion Pass I would really appreciate it..It was not inside the Ghost Edition I ordered. I have gone through every inch of it multiple times and it's not there. I need some help please.

And this is the problem with all MMOs
Because you could blow up a mountain in a single-player game and there wouldn't be major consequences
But when you add other people into the mix, the story can't be changed and therefore everything you do is worthless in the end
(Infinite copies of Sepkis Prime, anyone?)

Seems the OT2 is in full swing O.O

Played a bit this morning before work....just want to say I hate you all who are playing right now...I'm still stuck here for 5 more hours and its busy as hell, which isn't a good thing, hate when I have more work than I have time.

well if anyone is up for some fireteam stuff in 30min or so, add "Klyka1" on PS4.

I've been just doing patrols and exploring for the last hours so I am lvl 5 with like 2 story missions done, haha

Mine was inside the leather book.

Managed to get a little in via Vita remote play before lunch and teaching later. Made a Warlock that I just played up to getting the ship in the Tower as that character I'll play with my main gaming buddy. Then made a Hunter for solo dicking around/playing with others, just played through the 2nd story mission with that character before running out of time.

I'll probably be able to get a couple hours in later tonight, and then have a lot of time to play tomorrow. Looking forward to getting past the Alpha/Beta content since I played the shit out of that.

I'm still at the point where I don't know the exact amount of content. How many Strikes, Raids, and multiplayer maps are there?

And is the average consensus that this is about a 7/10 game so far? I havent been following since last night because I had to sleep and now I'm at work, but I know there was some disappointment last time I checked.

There is damage scaling (i.e. level 20 deals a % of health damage to a level 3 mob as opposed to a level 3 player dealing weapon damage to a level 3 mob)
So there should also be loot scaling

Story presentation, mission design being repetitive, total number of singleplayer locations, limited "MMO" scope (lack of communication tools for random interaction)

So early in the game, I feel like I had to "predict" my impressions, but there are some things that are obvious...

I think it's going to be very easy for plenty of people to look past the flaws and not so easy for others. Whether or not the package is worth it to you in terms of individual value will come down to what you want out of the experience. If stuff that I consider ancillary like a strong narrative and "heavy MMO" elements are really important to you in this sort of game, then it's probably not going to win you over. The gameplay feels very polished and tuned, controls are great, moment-to-moment gameplay is hella fun, character progression is addicitive, natural multiplayer elements are unobtrusive and seamless. I'd describe what is presented here so far as "a very good start," to a gameplay base, to a new franchise, a new style of psuedo-persistent multiplayer. It is very obviously built to be expanded on in chunks over the long haul. It doesn't have the feature sets of an established sequel (though compared to something like Titanfall it does offer way more for the asking price).

Here's an example. You can take on a couple of bounties at the tower, wander out, run into a random or two and start an open mission, culminating in a fight where you might wind up saving or reviving each other before a close victory. This is very "surface" stuff, equivalent to MMORPG questing, you're not advancing the story or seriously testing your skills. But of course, you are shooting aliens in the face and boosting around on a hoverbike and double-jumping on downed airplanes. If the actual play experience of doing this kind of thing feels fun for you, you'll probably love this game, and get an enormous amount from the more advanced content. If it strikes you as boring or grindy then it probably won't win you over.

I expect it to be very highly reviewed because it's a strong foundation and the gameplay is so tight. But in terms of quality of content, I feel like you kind of need to experience the Vault of Glass, which means getting to the point where you're able to do the Vault of Glass, and literally no one can comment on that yet (it doesn't even unlock until the 16th). I imagine they put a lot of design work into this "raid" and it probably represents the effort they are likely to put into expanding the game as well. But absolutely no one can tell you how worthwhile it is yet.

So for now you have to sort of decide if the moment-to-moment core gameplay feels fun enough to you to make the game worth playing. For me that's an easy yes even solo, and it only improves playing with others.

I will say that if you don't plan to PvP (which so far seems very well tuned and up to Bungie's pedigree to me) at all, the value of the game overall is definitely reduced.

Pretty much my review if I'd written one.

Finally home!!! Downloading something off XBL right now. Time to dive in!

X360 Destiny GAF, if you don't have me added get on that! Gamertag is BLCKATK. Looking forward to play with you guys!

So that for end game grinding, you aren't required to only farm Mars. It's a good thing.
