Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XV: Kübler-Ross Edition

Have any of Kirby's powers in the past had voice work that varies depending on the language? I'm wondering what they'll do for characters like Shulk and Palutena whose dialog for their neutral B differs between languages.

basically i want to hear kirby try to speak more english

So is he just always holding the sword then?

Nope but there is the weird oddity where he says pk flash in english correctly while ness sounds like he's saying pk "pulse" despite having the same VA.

I guess at that point Sakurai wanted to drive home that these weren't the same games while at the same time... they were...

I don't know.

Yeah, it makes sense, I get why he did that, but still an odd choice!

3DS version should have been called For Fun
Wii U version should have been called For Glory

Only issue with that is, technically, the gameplay is the same on both systems, so if one is in a way, competitive, the other is too.

What makes the 3DS ver. less competitive, in a sense, is the controls, and smaller screen size, other than that, it's pretty much the core Smash experience, just on a handheld.

Are there any other synonyms for "fight" that work? Though I guess they could look for different themes.

Super Smash CRUNCH...

..3DS and Wii U is just fine actually lol

Maturity, bitches.
So 3DS version should be Super Smash Bros 4play
and the Wii U version should be Super Smash Bros Hot and Steamy

It doesn't work because Sakurai says Wii U version is Smash Bros 5
(he's full of crap)
.

Smash 3DS = Smash 4

Smash Wii U = Smash 5

right? If so, weird.

In that kind of sense and logic, Smash Wii U is actually an expansion or update, of sorts.

But it's actually not.

They really should have given the games better subtitles.

"Melee" and "Brawl" sounded pretty good, but now it's "Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS" and "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U".

It's uninventive at best.

I think it makes perfect sense.

Super Smash Brothers For 3DS/Wii U

Super Smash Brothers 4 3DS/Wii U

Now if that word-play was intended who knows, but it completely works, showing that the games have the same basic structure but are two separate entities of the franchise...

I wonder if there'll be a PK flash customisation that makes the move actually useful like in PM.

If kirby copies someone who has a customised ability, will he get the default or the customised version?

Kirby puts the Koopa Klown Car upside-down on his scalp, then ducks inside it when it attacks so it's roughly level with where it should be normally.
Kirby transforms into a mini Koopa Clown Car with a toy Bowser Jr/Koopaling inside.

... Now I want to draw this.

So how big do you guys think this is going to be at launch? Went to the destiny release at gamestop and it was pretty packed. I can only assume the midnight for this will be even bigger.

Yeah, the "We're treating the 3DS version as Smash 4 and the WiiU version as smash 5" thing is obviously bullshit.

They're very clearly different versions of the same thing, the WiiU version would have more characters if it was meant to be smash 5.

Yeah, Wii U is Smash 5, he keep saying that.
Just hope there will be tons of mode in the Wii U version, 3DS is fine but no adventure/event mode is a bummer.
Thankfully, Smash Run makes up for it.

Both smash 3DS and smash Wii U are the 4th smash brothers because they share the same fighting ENGINE. The gameplay mechanics (and roster) are identical, so they're not really a sequel.

Street fighter 2 turbo is not street fighter 3. Smash wii U is not smash 5.

They are 2 sides of the same coin. Same roster, same (fighting) engine, same mechanics.

Even if features, stages, modes, etc are different, they're still both the same game, mechanically, so they're BOTH smash 4.

All the different modes make them different games in my mind. It just comes down to how much more the Wii u version has.

During the Japanese demo thing did anyone note what music played on the past stages? I'm wondering if it was exclusively old music. The music listed on the Music page at the official site all seem to be present in the 3DS version, but if the past stages play exclusively old music, then where does the Area 6 song go, Smash Run only?

Jungle Japes is the only DK stage in the 3DS version, yet a Gear Getaway arrangement was one of the songs in the sound player POTD. I'm sure Area 6 will play in Corneria.

Let's take bets on what characters will be in smash 5 because who cares about what's in front of us.

If splatoon stays supported for more than a year, a rep is a shoe-in.

Clearly Smash Bros will be like pokemon, with two versions now, and a superior version being released
exclusive to Nintendo 9th gen console
