The Mario series as a whole is a mess in terms of naming.
The one I find most surprising is that the third installment in the New Super Mario Bros. series, on the Nintendo 3DS (emphasis on the three), was called New Super Mario Bros. 2.

I hope replays can be saved onto the SD card or a USB drive and that they let you transfer them to another 3DS/WiiU rather than encrypt them to only be viewable on the 3DS/WiiU that took them.
That way someone could set up a site that lets people submit replays and there could be a weekly top 10 thing.

I think they have high chances tier:

Captain Toad/Any Toad variant. (Its the only viable new Mario rep imo besides PM.)
New FE Rep
New Pokemon Rep
Chorus Kids since next handheld should have no limitations. Ice Climbers too.
A Shin Megami Tensei rep. SMT is Nintendo at this point besides Persona. And I only see Nintendo and Atlus's relationship getting stronger considering RPGs are so much better on handhelds and 3DS/future Nintendo handhelds is basically all we're getting lol. Jack Frost would fit right in.

Well, we'll be finding out in a few days how replays work this time around. I really hope they are more easily shareable in general, even outside of the game.

Honestly, what shocked me most about Pikmin 3 that not once did you use the Rock Pikmin to break through ice.
I would love it if Pikmin had environments that cycled through the seasons. For example: a small stream with a waterfall has a cave behind it (Game Development 101), so in Spring, Summer, and Fall, you can only enter the cave with Blue Pikmin. However, in Winter, the water freezes over, and so does the waterfall. Now you can use Rock Pikmin to smash the ice, letting Pikmin of all types through.
You could work in several elements that would make it a lot more strategic without adding a thirty-day limit or something along those lines (I want to get this item back before Spring). It could also make the game more replayable, if the seasons you start the game with were randomized.

If they go back to titles, Super Smash Bros. Strife is the best title. Perfectly sets up the obligatory Homestuck newcomer, too.
Inkling wouldn't be that hard a character to develop, but he / she sure as shit wouldn't be able to generate free-flowing liquid to fast-travel through along the whole map. Instead, I can see ink-travel replacing the bulk of Inkling's movement options in place of walking. It'd basically work like a teleport. For example, a down smash could have Inkling retreat into paint directly below it for a second to dodge attacks only to come out swinging seconds later. Similar tricks could work for grounded shield rolls, while a recovery could work like Yoshi's egg toss vectors serving as recovery paths. Shoot ink trail to travel up it onto safety, etc.
You could set up a simple two-way teleporter mechanic where two ink grenades can exist at a time (like Brawl Diddy's Bananas) and Inkling can go through them like those black holes out of Looney Tunes, etc.
That being said, a Final Smash that was something to the effect of a paint air strike that makes characters trip and lets you beat the crap out of them for its duration could work.

I just watched that Pikagrab video for the first time because of the kotaku article... And that guy wasn't kidding when he said he was crazy haha. I had to turn it off, the arm waving and shouting was starting to give me a headache haha.

locking Marth but keeping Ike in the roster seems strange. It'd be like locking Fox, Mario or Pikachu but having Falco, Luigi or Jigglypuff in the starting roster. Awakening pretty much solidified Marth as the main face for Fire Emblem.I'd lock the original 4 unlockables as well as anyone who was locked in older games, so lock Marth, keep Ike
Lucario was used quite heavily to promote B2/W2 and his mega evolution was marketed well. On top of that Lucario had a pivotal role in X/Y. Lucario is right behind Pikachu as one of the most popular mascots and has been for over 10 years. Given how many Pokémon we have in Smash currently, Lucario makes perfect sense as a starter. It also helps diversify the starting roster from something not in Gen 1. Greninja on the other hand should've been unlockable along with Jigglypuff and Mewtwo, I wish.
