Finally finally have it. The limited edition is lovely. Still early on, game feels tougher. Can't wait to get out of the alpha / beta portion but I don't see the point of rushing. Really happy so far...and even if the story is being criticised I like the concept.

Right? I really didn't think I'd enjoy Crucible this much. I'm hoping those expansions bring in maps with more vehicles and game types. I'd LOVE a big team gametype!
One more match of control then onto the Devil's Lair. Is there a way to broadcast to PSN friends that you're in need of fire support? Surely must be. Gonna have to try that license restore thing, I wants mah shaders and grimoire!
at level 5 you can get the crucible access. it's only control point though.. you gotta unlock the other ones. kinda shit tbh. It's super fun though.
as an aside, why does NO ONE on the ps4 use voice chat? it feels fucking barren and it's sad. I remember playing halo 2/3/odst/etc on 360 and everyone is social and has fun, here it's just... I don't know, feels like i'm playing bots. I'm going to blame ps4 on coming with a garbage headphone/mic. I bought the 8$ rocketfish one and it's already way better, but it seems like no one uses voice and it's a shame. I miss the 360 days.
How is the XBone version for people? is there any more communication?
.....PS4 comes with a mic? What does it look like?

They can't--Bungie removed voice chat from the game outside of fireteams and have been desperately trying to convince people it is a feature. This is the critical loss that is making me waffle on going to pick up my pre-order. They claimed after the beta they were "listening" to complaints about the lack of chat, but they did nothing about it.

The problem goes beyond that though. The majority of people even when in a fireteam don't use a microphone.

Did you get it from the Arcite quartermaste? I downloaded it but I'm not finding who to actually get them from in the game. The Arcite doesn't have them when I check his inventory.
at the vanguard master in one of the towers.... you have to pay for them.

it just unlocks the armor at one of the vendors in the tower... you have to pay for them.
you know it can be easily added back in.. But I actually like not hearing either racist, homophobic or cursing. I like just being able to chat to my friends without hearing that sort of thing.
Yeah its a massive problem. Your best bet is to add all your clan members to your friends list. For an MMO-like game it's horribly designed to interact with clans and friends.

A simple mute button would suffice. Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. Having no voice chat in team-based PvP is a huge detriment.

Bonus, you can buy more of them from the shop with the secret wares ect.
encourages clan play. and people to go out of their way to make friends.

Chat doesn't work in PvP?
not that I am aware of... there's just an option to see who's online of your friends list and then there's another list of random players in your game session.
Outside of fireteams, there is no chat in pvp.
So what would be a good order of Story, Strike, Patrol and PvP so that I don't find myself fightng someone for 30 minutes? Just make sure I am higher than the level recommended for a Story or Strike?

stopped at level 3 today. I will try and get to level 5 tomorrow. Not having cooperative fire team members sucks. Had to do those missions basically on my lonesome. I am soo lonely in this world haha. Hopefully it gets better by the weekend.
