Just had two awesome hours. First, I managed to clear the first Moon strike mission and holy hell was it ever tough. The final boss and battle are brutal, the whole thing took a good 30 minutes.
Here we are celebrating:
The best part though, was the reward. It was a crazy good hand cannon. I had tried a couple of others and hated using them, until I got a good hand cannon and this one is a monster. Love using it.
I also finally got to Mars and it is wonderful. The vistas, the music, the Cabal encounters are stellar. Destiny has a lot of weird, little issues that occasionally bug me, but as a whole I am really loving it. Only level 15 too. I'm very curious to see what it's like post level 20. I definitely understand why people will dislike the game, but I think that if you have ever really loved Halo and Borderlands, you will really enjoy this. The gunplay and enemy encounters feel fantastic (the Cabal is especially fun, not sure why). Loot and leveling systems are also great. The weakest stuff has been the story, looking at the guide I seem to only have 4 story missions left (after 5 hours too) and I have really no idea what is going on. There are basically no characters and the events on one planet aren't really tied in anyway to the next planets story. And literally every single mission has at least one encounter where you "hold square to deploy ghost" and then defend it for a while. Again, not so inspired, but the gameplay stops it from bothering me too much.
It's a shame that games like this, Borderlands, and Diablo have such shitty stories and mission structure and it's a bit crazy that a game so big has such lackluster story missions. But, like I said, the gameplay and loot systems make up for the crappy story. Much like Borderlands and Diablo, it's all about killing lots of enemies and improving everything about your character and Destiny does that really, really well.
