I might try the madness that is PvP, especially as somebody who normally has like a 0.5 k/d on games like CoD.

Any tips/suggestions or should I avoid all together?

Don't avoid it my friend. I loved the PVP in the beta and the iron banner events are insane. It can be a lot of fun.

Quick tip: If you're struggling to get kills then just try to concentrate on capturing zones. If you can get 3 you get a "hat-trick" achievement and a fair few points. Just don't get caught up too much on your K/D. I played a fair few matches and only just managed a 1.00 ratio.

Also as a beginner make sure to stick with your team and just support them during fights. Don't try to solo the MP or you'll get destroyed.

Nice load-out to start is a Cydonia AR3 auto rifle and a fusion rifle as your secondary. The fusion rifle takes a bit of getting used to but does lots of damage.

Good luck dude.

Just bought the Digital Destiny PS3 version, that free PS4 upgrade option is gonna come in handy in the future. £50 squid though, thank god for discounted psn cards. Technically only payed £38.

Where did you get the discounted cards? if you don't mind me asking.

Loving the Defender subclass for the Titan.

Feels so damn good in a raid to throw down the Ward of Dawn and know it's helped someone out.

Though it doesn't work quite the way I expected it to. You can't shoot or throw grenades through the bubble, neither can the enemy. It lasts a pretty long time even without the time extension you can unlock for it. Enemies however, can walk straight through and attack you.

Now, since I have Armour of Light active, I seem to get a shield over my health while inside the actual bubble. This makes it very difficult to tell if an enemy firing or attacking me with a melee inside the shield does any damage but of course it's distracting. I also can't work out whether attacking an enemy inside the bubble is effective or not either. What I'm even wondering is that possibly all the bonuses the Ward of Dawn grants are given to everyone, you, other players AND the enemy.

Still, it's an eye opener. I'd previously been a bit confused about why exactly you'd need a health/shield bonus while inside an indestructible shield but now I know why.

I saw a public event happen.

Too bad it was literally just me and 1 other guy. There was no way we could have completed it, the guy we had to kill had infinite HP or something.

They need to figure out a way to start public events across multiple "channels" of the open world, and then let you hold Triangle or something to teleport to the event so many players can be gathered at once and they can actually be completed.

Really enjoying the game but I have three pretty major complaints.

1. Loading, loading, loading. It this a PS4 game? Who thought this was a good idea? Finish a mission, you do not get to stay, you are leaving. Then you sit on the after mission screen, have to hold Triangle for 5 seconds. Pick the tower, get a spaceflight cutscene for 45 secs all to spend less than 30secs-60 secs on the tower (so you can turn in the quest). Time to go back to the planet, but wait you have to hold down triangle to select destination...then another 30 secs to get back to a planet. Over and over again.

Nope, not a single one.

i played around 15 crucible games yesterday and on loading-heavy games like Destiny i usually lift my dumbbells during those loading times. My arms hurt :(

btw, why is it that i get utterly demolished in clash while i constantly place on top in control.
Large scale maps + people mastering the scout rifle?
people with high skill levels playing clash because a sucky team can't "drag them down" by screwing up objectives?
or did i just happen to be matched up with a 6 person pre-made fireteam?

So far I've done two public events totally on my own. Rediculous. I mean what's the point if they aren't going to bring anyone else along? They're impossible to solo and it's up to the server it bring people together. Doesn't make sense at all. This random people randomly around sometimes thing isn't really working out for me at all to be honest.

Weird, I'm level 13 and had two fairly lengthy Patrols but I haven't had any pop up. They seemed pretty frequent in the beta.

Then again it almost feels like the actual players I'm encountering are fewer and farther between.

I've just been camping in old russia for the spider tank public event. Killed it twice basically solo. I just sit on top of a building killing tons of fallen and get decent exp + item drops that scale up to my level.

When the sky gets dark in that area it means the event is going to start soon.

Also made a lot of glimmer and rep from the beacon quests. Theres a pattern to how the enemies spawn and you can usually make 75-100 glimmer every 10 minutes just from mob kills and there is ~10 chest/spinmetal spawns in the area.

Not at least having the ability to matchmake for story missions is one of the most baffling decisions I have ever seen.

Like, I genuinely want to hear bungies reasoning. Because I just can't wrap my head around such an omission for this type of game.

Well, got to level 15 today, and I am absolutely loving this game. Always nice to just take a break from the story, and go play with my lower level friends. They don't mind, and I still get EXP.

Quick question though. When do the Playstation peeps get that exclusive crap?

Vanguard gear or?

Yeah fucking paid raids. There is ONE rraidin the base game.

I dont count greedy ass expansion packs. Fuckers overr there @ Acti
Wait is there only one raid in the game at the moment? Wonder how long that will keep people around.

Got to the moon, still feeling repetitive with enemies. They don't really change up their tactics and just rush as a horde. Bit dull but hey, what can I do.

You're advertising your twitter like

"if you enjoy the controversial stuff I'm saying you can follow me here"

"destiny getting slammed on the internet"
But this thread is a known discussion for people who enjoy the game you know? Why bring that negativity in here? Go make a thread detailing all your disappointment , I'm sure others of your ilk will join, there is a healthy faction of them on Gaf. you'll become a twitter hero, and my hero for luring the trolls out of this thread into one concentrated hate group. We want to discuss why we like the game though

Oh OK so I cannot discuss why I like or hate the game in a Destiny forum dude. I do like the game but it has certainly not lived up to the hype, and I express this through my twitter account and on here.

Maybe I should not have added my twitter comments here and straight up spoke about my annoyances here instead. But you will always get your die hards like yourself defend it to within an inch of his/her life. What makes you a fan-boy for a game that has been barely playable for 24 hours now anyway? Did you invest large amounts of pocket money into the game or something.

Especially considering you cannot just walk into a story mission, you have to directly select it prior to entering the planet. The whole mission structure of the game is extremely odd and really kills any immersion/plot.

In terms of communicating with others, bungie has made so many stupid decisions. I honestly can't believe it.

This the same people that made halo? We sure on that? Because this game lacks a massive amount of common sense.

I wonder how big these expansions will be in terms of actual content.

Not sure, but (Rumor! Rumor! Rumor! Take with salt!) A guy in the first OT thread said he worked at a GameStop and they told him to tell people who ask that they each have a set of story missions, 3 pvp maps, 2 strikes, and a raid. A little bit extra if on Sony console. It would fit the price, but Bungie has not said anything except "Expansion of each type of gameplay."

There's also the weekly heroic strikes for level 20+. meant to be super, super tough though.

Have you guy's noticed that the strike mission in Russia was harder than in the alpha or beta? I was also 2 levels higher this time. Taking that tank down took 10 minutes more than it should have. Best part of the game tho for me, really enjoyed it and got a sweet blue weapon from it.

Only level 5, but I feel like I've put a decent bit of time in, and so far, uh.. I think I'm liking it? Man, such a weird feeling about the game right now. The UI and design and production values are really good, I just have a lot of mixed feelings about the game design. I feel like the early game is just so much slower than it should be, from levels to loot to the doling out of abilities and fun stuff. Most everything is locked away and is only being slowly trickled out.

I don't even mind the grind-y nature; I was fully expecting and wanting a level grind/loot game, but I think Bungie should've learned from Diablo/WoW, and even Borderlands, in making sure the reward structure is constantly giving you that progress/loot positive feedback.

What is this vanguard armory I was supposed to get "early access" to via the digital guardian edition?

Really kind of misleading to be honest.

You go to the Vanguard Quartermaster, every 5 levels you are able to purchase some cheap gear. Note, the weapons so far cannot be upgraded like other weapons.

I thought the same thing, but honestly it wasn't. The main reason it was harder is I hadn't spent hours grinding out gear, not to mention you are getting a ton of new players who haven't touched the game.

I'm also pleased with the fact the game got more diffcult since the beta.

Any german xb1s around level 6/7 wanting to start cooping the moon missions? (starting with the first) (starting 14:00 german time ;)) I know this is probably a little too specific ;)

Guardian, I don't suppose you speak pre-Golden Age German by any chance? No, no, no one does.

Really enjoying the game but I have four pretty major complaints.

1. Loading, loading, loading. It this a PS4 game? Who thought this was a good idea? Finish a mission, you do not get to stay, you are leaving. 2. So much backtracking and constantly going to the same 3-4 locations per planet for another objective. I'm not talking about explore mode here either.

3. Loot drops feel like they were nerfed across the board. Common drops maybe the most common, but they rarely drop.

4...So far, worst story in a video game that I have played in years. So much potential, but nothing there at all.

Nope, not a single one. Can you only get them in explore mode?

DUDE, according to a few poster here, you are not allowed to have a negative opinion on the game, only a fucking positive one!

Yup. During the Beta I could quite easily do the Devil's lair and only died once or twice at most. The first time I tried it in the full release (I was level 8) I died 7 or 8 times and had to revive my team-mates 8 times.

It's a welcome increase in difficulty though. It was far too easy in the alpha/beta.

Can't really say this before we see how substantial the raids are, how much fun they are, how the game feels after prolonged investment of time, etc...

DUDE, according to a few poster here, you are not allowed to have a negative opinion on the game, only a fucking positive one!

It's not really that, it's the way people put their negative opinions across.

For instance, you complained the level cap was too low. You've not hit max yet, or expertienced the end game, so how do you know the low level cap will be an issue? You don't, yet you right it off as a negative anyway.

You also mentieond the $500m without knowing a thing about how that $500m was spent.

There are legit complaints, but there's also a lot of assumption based stuff and ignorance being echoed about. It can get a little frustrating.

First match I got a .0.25 kd, lol.

I definately need to change up my weapons as I was just using the stuff I've played through the story mode with thus far. My only kills were melee as my weapons didn't seem to touch them.

Quick question, how can I get that rifle?

Are you having fun with the game farming for so long?

Fuck Yeah

I just earned my 2nd Mote of Light from a chest

Now all the chests in Rocket Yard are dropping level 16+ Uncommons
No more Commons
Now I'm getting some sick ass Gear that I need for my guns

I just got my Discipline+ now to 217, that means a 100% rating for my grenade Cooldown for a Level 17 Warlock (Sunsinger)
I have head piece were Melee hits, makes my Grenade Cooldown faster

Right now I lob a Grenade every 15 secs or so

Hooray, I did it

How many expansions are there going to be? Does any one know?

My guess is after the first two we will hear nothing until E3 where the announce the "comet" Expansion which will be a little bigger than expansions 1 and 2 combined, lanch in fall, and also give all the PS exclusive stuff to Xbox players.

DUDE, according to a few poster here, you are not allowed to have a negative opinion on the game, only a fucking positive one!

I think most posters that replied to you actually disliked you advertising your twitter and didn't mind that you had a negative opinion.

Whilst I think the game is good and worth the 36 quid I paid for it, I agree on all those points. Story had so much potential but it ultimately falls flat on its arse. And the loading is unacceptable on current gen. If this game fits on a single xbox 360 disc with only 4 areas to explore it's hardly pushing the hardware.

I saw one public event in Old Russia but there was no clear indicator as to where on the map it was taking place so I ended up moving in the wrong direction and couldn't find/complete it.

Coming from Diablo a few weeks ago the Destiny loot game feels a bit weak :(

Enjoying it, but being level 12 and having my lvl 20 friend join seems to result in insanely strong Vex. Can anyone tell me how difficulty scales?
