Phew first time waking up to Destiny!
BACK TO THE FRAY

lol

My morning ritual is now going to be

Wake Up
Get Ready for Work ( quickly )
Jump into Destiny
Run some Explore missions
Cry a little inside while I get in the car to head to work

Thank god the companion app is so badass. I love looking at all my stats and reading the grimoire cards.

well, they are extremely limited as to where they can travel/chase. if you get to a tough area you almost always have the option to backpedal to where they cant follow to recharge. i'd like to see that improved for sure.
You can do that in a lot of areas in Halo games...

Currently Level 12. Theres a lot about this game I really dont like..but something I find absolutely fucking stupid is when you switch your secodary weapon and heavy weapon and you lose most of your ammo. Sometimes I need a sniper rifle, sometimes I need a shotgun, sometimes I need a rocket..etc.

Some math:
Machine Gun - 24 rounds
(Switch)
Rocket - 0
(Switch)
Machine Gun - 0 rounds

Why the fuck do I lose my machine gun rounds? Where did they go?

Shotgun - 20+ rounds
(Switch)
Sniper - 6 rounds
(Switch)
Shotgun - 4 rounds
(Switch)
Sniper - 1 round
(Switch)
Shotgun - 0 rounds

Did Bungie not anticipate scenarios where you would need shotguns, snipers and a primary weapon in their repetitive battle arenas?

The D pad is wasted on 4 fucking emotes. Why isnt that the weapon wheel/selector? Even if the disappearing ammo doesnt bother you, how annoying is it to go into a menu screen to switch weapons?

That would be OP as hell if you were to swap from a machine gun with 100+ bullets to a full rocket. Likewise for a sniper rifle to a shotgun.

Just a heads up to people trying for this. I did some experimentation-- the "Triple Play" trophy/achievement description is not accurate. You need to get at least a triple kill that includes a Warlock, Hunter, and Titan for it to unlock.

I suggest if you're a Hunter using heavy weapons, shotguns, and your super if you're a bladedancer. As a Titan, hulk smash, and as a Warlock your hadouken.

Fuck, that's even worse than before lol. Like getting a double kill with one laser shot.

No "ahem" necessary. You should have offered this from the start if you wanted an actual discussion.

I haven't tried the pvp yet, but I can say right away the radar isn't a balance issue as everyone has it. It's simply a destiny choice, and one I felt worked fine in the beta.

Will report back later tonight when I've spent some time with it.

They weren't joking when they said the game opens up at lvl 20. Fantastic. If you like MMO structures then its all gravy.

I was already having a good time but now I don't want to stop playing.

I'm flattered Nib:

Let's start:

Matchmaking is horrible.

Hmmm honestly that should be all I have to say. When you focus on balance damaging across multiple levels, who's design choice was it to NOT balance abilties? Playing against level 20's at level 7 is completely unacceptable.

Shotgun damage range makes it one of the most powerful guns in the game, allowing you to run around the map. ESPECIALLY because of the tight corners/corridors in every map and sprint mechanic.

Radar range is far too big. It's a game of check your map constantly. While, this is a big deal in Halo and it's critical, this was one of the biggest reasons why Halo 4 ruined Halo MP. Sprinting with a radar ability as powerful as it is in Destiny hampers the skill base quite a bit.

Still don't think they balanced fusion rifles at all... The charge time up is far too little for being a one-shot. The fact that I can run around getting triple kills left and right is a joke.

I can keep going but for the sake of it being the first week, hopefully Bungie will balance and fix these issues.

Ahem.

A lot of these aren't balancing issues but general design. It's not imbalanced for everyone to have the same range for example.

Regarding levels, abilities are normalised in terms of damage, the only thing that's not is the level required to unlock one in the first place. But I don't personally think it's that big of a deal when it takes so little time to level up in the game.

Shotgun damage, are you suggesting they turn down the range, or decrease the damage? Because the shotgun is really only good for close quarters combat, which is a major disadvantage that needs to be compensated for in terms of balancing.

And the fusion rifle, in your opinion how much extra time should be added to make it fair? Bare in mind if you miss, it's pretty much game over, so you need to account for and compensate for that too in terms of balance.

I actually look forward to going to the bathroom now, I get to read up on my lore.

Now that I'm lvl 20 where's the best place to get this light filled armor?

Ahem.

I'll agree on matchmaking - to a degree. Because all damage is normalized, you're allowed to level up during PvP, and everything in the game encourages you to progress... I'm okay with it. To a degree. At times, it can get crazy with 20s rolling with 7s, but its really no worse than a level 5 running with a prestige in CoD.

But lol @ sprinting. The radar range is easily identifiable. You're not going to live off of it. It generally will never show you two control points at a time in its radius and its delayed which most people don't even realize. So sprinting hoping that radar clears the way for you asking to get pummeled.

Fusion Rifle charge time is enough to get killed with time to spare

Shotguns do damage up close. DUH. lol. stop sprinting around corners. start expecting people to sprint around corners.

I don't mind the negative opinions. Feel free to really, really dislike anything you want.

That some people seem to be actively campaigning to drag everyone down with them is the problem.

People on the pro side are doing it too.

Big release, people like drama and to talk down to others. I guess it's just a massive opportunity for people to vent their shit.

Or maybe the game has been hyped through the roof, released before reviews and has some major flaws that people would like to discus.

Completed the bounty of killing 2 enemies with one shot of fusion rifle 20 times. Phew, that took some doing but I'll give some hints for others to make it easy.

1) easiest enemies to get this were husks, shanks and dregs.

2) fastest place to farm them is in the forgotten shores, where 2 of each shank and dregs respawn within 2 minutes and are right next to each other.

3) getting 2 kills can be done with the enemies either right next to each other or one behind the other, since the rifle blast penetrates through.

4) always best to damage both enemies down to 25% health with another weapon before lining them up.

Good luck.

Is there any way to make contact with bungie for some changes. The biggest one I want is to be able to announce in the tower that you're looking for fireteam members and let them come to you.

Instead of inviting people manually and hoping they join (which they often don't)

Like a text box!! Something you will find in every MMO.
This game does not feel "MASSIVE"....yeah people are bopping around the tower but there is no conversation, no feeling of community.

I don't work until 6PM EST tonight so I'm planning on playing pretty much all day long... anyone wants to join up add me

crophonso

on PSN. PS4. I greatly prefer to play with folks who use a mic.

It was. And I apologise for that. The point I was trying to make is that there are still far more positive impressions than negative, but for some reason your post only emphasised the negative, and that was my point of mild contention.

Apology accepted, and thanks.

I pre-ordered the game last year and played a lot of the alpha and beta before jumping ship. Just based on that you have to assume that the negatives *I* experienced outweighed the positives *I* experienced enough to not drop $60 day one and opt to check it out on gamefly before committing to a purchase. I came back in to read about the full release before my copy arrives, and the negatives I had with the game seem to still be there, which is totally ok! It just means that maybe this isn't a game for *me* but I won't criticize anyone for loving or hating it.

I have a lot of good things to say about the game and the quality is obviously very high. I didn't mean to come off as dismissive or a troll. And with that, I'm out until I've played the game enough to come back and talk with you all about it. Enjoy.

I noticed when you're playing with someone and if you travel too quickly with the Sparrow, you suddenly freeze while the game loads the area HL-style. Lame

I was already having a good time but now I don't want to stop playing.

Please tell me more about that because I can't see it at the moment. (Currently level 13)

What is there to do? How is the difficulty? Are there enemy type that require more than just point&shoot? Are the bosses in Strike more than just Bullet Sponges?

That would be OP as hell if you were to swap from a machine gun with 100+ bullets to a full rocket. Likewise for a sniper rifle to a shotgun.

Forget over powered...if i switch from a fully loaded shotgun to a sniper rifle for a few kills...why does my shotgun ammo disappear? Did I throw it on the floor?

Shotgun really isn't too OP. Once you get good with the fusion rifle you'll see. Also, just pay more attention to the radar, try not to get enemies get too close without having a strategy.

I hate being on the receiving end of a shotgun. Pisses me off hahahahaha. Same with the rocket launcher but then I found there is a bounty that requires the usage of it so I joined in on the rocket launcher spamming. pls understand, I will stop using it once I hit my bounty so if you get merked by me, I apologize profusely, it's only for dem xp points.

Pistols are OP as hell, why didn't I give them a go before lol

I just been ditching all mine as they were useless in the beta. Now looking at everyone's screenshots it seems that they've been adopted by the majority now.

Gonna try one out instead of my scout rifle tonight.

This thread is an echo chamber for everything negative.

I'm having fun, and so far it is exactly what the beta pegged it as. There really is no reason people should be all that surprised by what they're getting, IMO.

I'm not trying to single you out here, as I've also seen a lot of other people say exactly the same in here.

But what I bolded simply stands in stark contrast to what people "defending" Destiny from criticism were saying during the alpha/beta.

Story mission criticism were considered premature because clearly those few missions were just basic tutorial/intro missions. Well, turns out every quest is basically a tutorial/intro mission in terms of what mission structure.

Complaints about number of zones/content were silly because clearly there were locked off areas in Old Russia, which meant that large parts of Old Russia hadn't even been seen yet. Now the game's out, and those areas are still locked off, most likely not to be unlocked before the fallen expansion in Old Russia comes out.

Things people were hoping would be bigger/better in the full game, simply aren't. I was personally hoping that the later Strikes would be more interesting than the one in Old Russia, well, they aren't. If anything they are all worse that I've tried ( done the one on the moon and two on venus ). All the bosses are just bigger versions of normal enemies, and then main challenge just comes from surviving the onslaught of adds, not the main boss itself. And if people thought the time to kill the devil walker was long, then they haven't done phogoth yet.

I noticed when you're playing with someone and if you travel too quickly with the Sparrow, you suddenly freeze while the game loads the area HL-style. Lame

This happens when you're on your own too. That and some of the invisible walls during story missions are really aggravating.

Heres my day 1 tally

JBdo1Mt.png

Yes, I do not PvP much ....

Until Iron Banner opens up again. I want that cape!

No beards...that is a disgrace

Lack of facial hair is disappointing to me as well. Along with not being able to rotate the character during customization. Oh and not having in-game clan options, clan options are only available on bungie.net... what kind of sense does that make? It's still difficult to converse with other players unless you form a fireteam. Respawn rate of enemies I feel is too high, can't explore one area without the enemies you just killed immediately respawning. I love the game but some design decisions are baffling, especially at this day and age.

These are all little things they could probably patch in that would make a world of difference, but I doubt they will.

Do you guys switch out your hand cannon when a swarm of hive come?

By the way, why the hell did they nerf Scout rifles? They're not very useful in PvP now...they were fine just the way they were in the beta.

Why did Bungie nerf the Carbine in Halo 3? Why did they nerf the Beam Rifle in Reach?

Shotgun really isn't too OP. Once you get good with the fusion rifle you'll see. Also, just pay more attention to the radar, try not to get enemies get too close without having a strategy.

I agree. The fusion rifle is fatal in the right hands. Same with the sniper rifle. Shotguns are the everyman weapon but you don't have as much flexibility with it as you do the other two weapons IMO. A fusion rifle can one shot multiple people and reloads a lot quicker.

which type of gun combination are you guys enjoying?

Auto-Rifle + Sniper Rifle in pve. Auto Rifle + Shotgun in pvp.

That's what I have normally. Now I'm upgrading weapons and armor for fun. Currently using and enjoying this scout rifle I have.

I just been ditching all mine as they were useless in the beta. Now looking at everyone's screenshots it seems that they've been adopted by the majority now.

Gonna try one out instead of my scout rifle tonight.

It's good to have both. Pistol for spongy enemies with precision hits, and Scout for lesser enemies that die in 1-2 hits anyway. Pistol is like a short range sniper man.

Yesterday was pretty amazing. Played around 7 hours of the game, ending up at level 15 with a Hunter. I can't wait to try out the Bladedancer subclass.

Here are the most important things I took away from playing, in no particular order:

-Playing in a fireteam is how this game is meant to be played. Going on my own, I had a good time, but nothing can compare to the highs experienced when playing with other people in voice chat and cooperating. Turning up the difficulty and hitting the story missions with one or two friends leads to a great amount of fun, good class synergy and most of the time a feeling of accomplishment.

-I enjoy that there is no negative to playing with people that are a lower level than you. I hopped into a friends game, he was still on Earth, and we just turned up the difficulty a bit more and I helped him out, and I was rewarded with experience and engrams for doing so. Great way to keep people together even though they may be different levels.

-So easy to just jump into a game and play. See your friend online? I'm going to jump in and see whats up. Or maybe you just feel like playing the game but nothing too intense. Head to patrol and just check out what is happening in the world. Strikes and Crucible are easy to get going too. Very easy to pick up and play.

-PvP is very fun, though I've been having a lot of network issues. Control points glitching out, shots not registering. Bungie has recognized the issue with the game on College Campuses so I'm looking forward to a possible fix. I actually feel like the PvP feels right, though I have some experience from the beta. No matter what level you are though as long as you are comfortable with your load out, you can do well. The only advantage that higher level players have over you is their level of experience at playing the game. Once you push through some matches and catch your stride, it feels great to play.

-The only negative things I feel currently are with how the story is presented, and how they deal with people abandoning strikes and pvp matches.

With the story, I am actually a fan of how it is presented. Very, very vague notions of what is going on, but since you are a Guardian, you go where you are needed. This disconnect between the player actually being engaged in the reason why the character is fighting can be very jarring to the player. There is so much passive storytelling though, it is creeping through each zone, in caves and catacombs, and each area has a distinct atmosphere that becomes more apparent the deeper you delve. That storytelling is then enhanced by the Grimoire system, which basically grows into a huge lore vault the more you play, and the more you explore. I personally love this, but I can totally see why people would NOT like this. You have to put too much effort in wanting to learn and be engaged, so it almost seems like Bungie is hiding from you. All it does to me is prove that the plot was not the forefront of the design for this game. It is unfortunate that if you just focus on doing story missions, you come out with a very disjointed idea of a plot.

With the penalty for abandoning games, this should be way more severe. Very, very annoying when people leave Crucible matches as soon as the team starts to lose, or after one wipe on the last boss of a Strike. Losing one person in a fireteam can be very brutal, especially on The Summoning Pits, which I haven't been able to complete because everytime we go in we have one person leave if we have one wipe.

All in all, I love this game. It feels like it was made for me. I look forward to the months I hope to spend playing this game and getting more engaged in the universe!
