"NOW I RELEASE A VIDEO TO END YOU!"

The Mike Tyson interview on Canadian TV is hilarious.

Don't ask such a dickhead question and not expect a dickhead answer.

Guys, guys, guys--don't worry about the NFL:

Report: NFL security investigating whether league office got tape

The NFL's got this. They'll be sure to investigate their own wrongdoing and punish appropriately, I'm sure.

It's still just so surreal to me to think that all of this horrible backlash would be severely cut back, if not nonexistent, if they'd just suspended Rice for 6-8 games to begin with. Now instead Rice is out of football forever and the entire league finally looks as corrupt as it's likely always been...and for mostly nothing.

Just wow, Goodell. The hole keeps growing.
edit: Though I'm still not convinced he'll lose his job over this.

Pretty much. If he used an iota of common sense even with literally just the caveman dragging video...he'd be all set but he issued a laughable 2 game suspension and it was all down hill from there.

I think Ray Rice will be back in the league in a few years, he won't be the same, but they're not banning him for life. Vick got back in, Ray Lewis did, Stallworth DUI murdered someone, went to jail and got to come back.

Ray hitting his now wife isn't going to kill his career completely.

Ray Rice being a past his prime RB is going to kill his career completely. Ray Lewis was an all star LB. Vick was a QB (much more impactful than a 2nd or 3rd string RB). If I were an owner I'm not so sure I'd want to deal with the baggage even a year or two from now for a guy who is probably not any more productive than a player I can get in the 5th round of the draft.

I don't think so breh, RBs have a shorter lifespan career-wise.

Next year he'll be 28 and still a bad RB in a league where younger slightly-better RBs are already commonplace. He's not a bad receiver. He's not a bad QB. He's a bad RB who's getting older, and the league's finally at the point where that is expendable.

If he's not back next year when he's 28, it's because no team wants him. And if no team wants him when he's 28, they damn sure won't when he's 29, or 30, etc. Even the CFL doesn't want him, and they took Ocho.

If he's not on a team this time next year, his career is over.

http://deadspin.com/goodell-was-wrong-when-he-said-casino-couldnt-have-give-1633218945

In his letter to owners yesterday, Roger Goodell addressed the question of why (in his version of events) the NFL never approached the Revel Casino about getting a copy of the surveillance tape.

We did not ask the Atlantic City casino directly for the video. Again, our understanding of New Jersey law is that the casino is prohibited from turning over material to a third party during a law enforcement proceeding, and that doing so would have subjected individuals to prosecution for interference with a criminal investigation.

Today, TMZ inquired about just that.

Paul Loriquet, the Director of Communications for the New Jersey Attorney General, tells TMZ bluntly, "No, it's not illegal."

To be clear ... our question was very specific: "Is it illegal for the casino to show or provide this material to a private entity in an ongoing investigation." His answer, "No, it's not illegal."

Somewhat related to this, but I found about this AP report via a push notification... from the NFL's official app. I thought that was kinda funny.

Also I didn't notice until a minute ago but nice work on the NFLGAF site, Godslay! I was even on it already, I feel remembered! c':

Ray Rice was clearly over the crest of his career already. With a six or eight game suspension, even if the Ravens had released him I think he could have gotten picked up by a team desperate for a second RB. Now, though, the the country-wide firestorm that his video has sparked, he doesn't have nearly enough talent left for any NFL franchise to warrant taking the PR hit to bring him back on board. Rice is toast, and he didn't need to be. I'm not sympathetic toward Rice for what he did, clearly, but I do think it's kind of sad that it was the league's bitch attitude that cost him his career, and not solely himself.

Thank you.

He's not a bad running back, he's better than 20+ of the starters in the league now. He was consistently a top 5 rb in fantasy, and was on a super bowl winning team.

His body is going to get a break. The NFL told the CFL not to touch him.

It's amazing what your connections in the NFL can do for you.

McCown is starting QB in the NFL because he's buddies with Lovie.
Michael Vick keeps getting jobs as a QB when he's shown he can't win the big games.
Jerry Jones will literally back a man who murdered his teammate drunk driving.

Ray Rice coming back isn't out of the question yet. Until Roger officially bans him for life. Which I doubt happens without ESPN and the media jumping on Roger until he resigns.

... Are they responding to a character from the Newsroom?

Trent Truck is on a rookie deal and also doesn't bring any baggage with him. If Ray Rice were LeSean McCoy or AP he might be worth the baggage. A middling RB is not worth the baggage.

When things start fucking with the bottom line, we see the owners start mobilizing.

If he can knock her out with a half punch in an elevator imagine what he can do with a years worth of steroids to the Steelers depleted defense!

The only person getting fired for this debacle.

NFL exec says AP report doesn't change what Goodell said but "if there's a delivery sitting under someone's desk there will be consequences"

How is NFL looking into new AP report? Source says "our security dept will be diong everything we can to determine if this is true."

How impossibly stupid. It was impossible to believe, with the people they have on payroll, that no one had a copy of this, you'd have to be an imbecile to believe otherwise. And yet, Goodell went on and on about how no one saw this video, we couldn't get a copy, blah blah blah. Should resign for pure stupidity alone. Who the fuck were they protecting, dime a dozen running back? The NFL shield?

Breast cancer awareness month in a couple of weeks, come get your pink NFL jersey, we stand up for cancer and women!

He screwed the pooch big time. He should go just because I can't stand his smug smile.

Not to mention, it's messed up how much money the NFL makes off of those pink jerseys versus how much cancer organizations raise for their charities.

The NFL is committed to beating cancer and any woman that may step to them in an elevator.
