Care to share any proof? Any whatsoever?

Well.

man, I am unable to play Destiny since I am working late. Its strange, as repetitive and disappointed in the story elements as I am, I still wanna go back and play it.

It's almost as much fun following this thread though. Quite a shocking range of reviews given high expectations before release and success of the beta.

Let's be honest. The first release of a new franchise always lays the technical foundations. From now on Bungie can focus on content with all necessary systems in place.

While the initial release might be disappointing for some, it can only get better from now.

what game has more story destiny or titanfall

Man, I'm all for Titanfall in most cases... but that campaign mode was tragic on a level Destiny doesn't even need to be worrying about.

Its existence actually makes the game worse lol.

I never thought Halo stories were amazing. Halo 1-3 were pretty uninspiring, so I didn't go into Destiny expecting much from the story.

People expecting The Last of Us or, more appropriately, Mass Effect (sans ending) are way over their heads.

I do feel like Destiny has set itself up for a lot of interesting story, but whatever is in the base game is pretty middling.

Also, the Coop part really kills any "single player" set piece moments. Unfortunate part of the online design.

Absolutely agree. I have a multitude of issues that would normally be dealbreakers, yet I still want to go play. The core loop is just so good. Actually reminds me of Watch_Dogs, since that game had a shitty story and meh mission design, but made up for it with the great hacking and shooting mechanics.

I've been playing solo so far, currently level 13. This isn't because I WANT to, its just how it turned out. I don't have any friends that have the game, and even though I set my fireteam to public, I never seem to get any requests. Sending fireteam invites out is a pain too.

I really think I'd enjoy the game a LOT more if I could tackle the content with other people. I wish there was an optional matchmaking before each level like there is for strikes, that would place you in a random fireteam with other players your level for that mission...

This is why I am still undecided on getting this. I'm all for games being made with co-op the main focus, just give us the simple tools to be matched up with other randoms.

I feel like the developers haven't given someone like you or I a thought, so why should I give them my money and time to work around their bullshit.

Totally agree....

Nah, it's just background noise. If you enjoy the basic gameplay of Titanfall, then the campaign is exactly the same.

Titanfall's campaign is completely innocuous.

Sorry, evolve alpha was awful.

By day two squads were running through the monster in >10 minutes. There's only 4 of them in the shipping game (and a 5th free dlc if you buy at launch).

:-(

At least if Evolve turns out meh the blow will be softened by other stuff coming out around that time.

I can get a small grasp of what Destiny is about

Titanfall I don't think there is anything going on...something about a bomb going or something

81 on Metacritic right now:

78 on Gamerrankings right now:

Bobby is probably not too happy at the moment.

Bobby don't care. Actually if there is some metacritic related clause in their contract still (I recall original leaked one had something) it would be 'good' for Bobby, can use it as leverage over Bungie. It can only be bad for Bungie here.

The game probably wasn't going to have the lasting power of CoD, remaining on charts throughout most of the year anyway, with or without good reviews. Bobby is going sell loads up front on the back of marketing and they will have a large base for the sequel where they can improve things. I'm just wondering if 2 years is enough for a sequel. Assuming it's not heavily rehashed, it shouldn't be.

I've said it before but I just tried playing solo again while my buddies were still out and about and holy crap this game is mediocre solo. Just mediocre. With friends its a lot more fun.

I can't help but feel there was more to holding the review copies back than just "wanting reviewers to experience it like everyone else." The worlds are not nearly populated enough that it would make much of a difference at all. Also, it will surely be one of the lower-rated AAA games with such massive levels of hype we've ever seen.

That's what it's about? Damn....

Yeah. And some important dude with a hip haircut dies too.

Agreed. They probably held this game back because they thought review scores might label this game as mediocre.

Yea, but I recall being forced to play each side in order to unlock the other Titans. The matchmaking experience for that (trying to get the right stage on the right team) was horrific.

That orbital drop/gate storming in Titanfall tho...

I guess it wasn't all bad. :P

The first release is also always considered the best, or one of the finest games out at the time. Doesn't look that way with Destiny no? If Halo CE was bad, you think Halo 2 would have done as well?

2.5 million bonus if Destiny gets 90+ on gamerankings.com. That's if the contract from then still stands, there are already some changes that must have occurred.

LoL. Kotick just sold $500 million worth of Destiny product to retailers. I'm sure he will sleep just fine tonight.

True, but if the game does get poorer than expected reviews, it will absolutely hurt the legs of the title.

Wow that contract seems scary for Bungie, the pressure is insane to deliver. No wonder they played it safe in some regards.

Yeah. And some important dude with a hip haircut dies too.

I remember that. Having the audio conversations between matches was such an awful idea, I can't imagine many payed attention. Ignoring how comprehensible it is anyway. Why they locked titans behind that I have no idea.

Your not serious right? I have played destiny but there's no way you can have a game near the amount of "story" as Titanfall.. Right?. That game makes UT3 look like a cinematic adventure.

Oh, Titanfall definitely has less than Destiny, but with that said neither of them have got any story to speak of.

At least Titanfall didn't say it would be the next Star Wars =/

that part was hilarious because it wasn't possible to not give a shit about him or the story anymore then before it was like "....who are you"

He even had dying words that I just don't remember.

I don't think either has much story nor do most of the players care about the story.

New Bungie game hyped up to be a massive ten year mega-universe? I expected more story than what we got.

The last mission of the IMC side of the campaign is fighting off the sentient Spectres at the Hammond Robotics factory where they're created.

I remembered that, though precisely why that happened was a blur (I didn't play the other half), I didn't care enough about to give it a second thought.

Haha, I'm totally the same way. Each session I play it, I have fun, but I also have a strong sense of disappointment. I end each session thinking that the game is really nothing special, but by the next hour I feel enticed to go back and play more. It feels like greatness is just around the corner, but I fear it may never come.

A lot like my experience with FFXIII in that respect.

I genuinely had no idea, all I know is some guy died in the mission before fighting another dude. And then something blew up and more people died.

There were some double crosses...Yeah, that's all I've got.

I agree, I had no idea what was happening when I was playing it, I only learned what was happening after the fact.

At least Titanfall told you in advance that the campaign was just dropped in. They made no promises and pretty much stated it was a tutorial-lite structure to unlock the other Titans. Destiny promised the next Star Wars.

To be honest unlike some people I remeber I had absolutely no hopes for the Titanfall campaign. I smelled the UT3-like shit a mile away (hell it managed to be far worse than what I had imagined.)

Wasn't upset by it, like you said it was pretty obvious it would be bad, but I don't understand why they locked anything behind it.
