I decided early on to devote myself to hand cannons and it has proven difficult. Better than the beta, but still difficult when up against auto rifles and some pulse rifles. So far it's been hard to find a good stats balance between impact, magazine size and range.

Right now I'm using a handcannon that is unforgiving. It's got great range and impact, but I get only three shots before reload. If I land all three before getting taken out by an auto rifle, it's a kill. If I miss a single shot, I am dead. And I'm not that great a shot.

Even if I get the kill, if there's more than one enemy, I'm dead because I'm reloading.

Hoping that such a restriction will make me a badass when I finally find one with easier stats. I gotta keep the range but I'd trade some impact for more rounds. I'd love a faster fire rate, too. Even if I land all my shots it's hard to keep up with the other gun types.

You're totally right, I was confusing myself. You can collect materials while doing patrols/bounties though and turning those in to the vanguard can get you marks.

How would one get there "legitimately"?

Maybe this is part of the DLC Gamestop was hawking at the release?

It's called Warframe

I asked about some story stuff, but no one answered, so I'm kind of left to just assume.

:(

That being said, I'm almost halfway done with the first scene of the first chapter.

I'll have my editor look at it when it's done so he can clean up any mistakes.

I'm ok with introduced characters/subplots that don't clash with anything previously established.
Make sure whatever you come up with have options/excuses in case future content starts to tread closely to what you come up with.

Just jumping into the 360 version, could someone give a quick rundown of the different classes? Are they very different in terms of how they play, pros/cons?

Any chance I can ask for some help with the last Strike on Mars? Kind of want to finish it off as its the last thing I currently have available to complete on the map.

I am on PS4 btw, probably easiest if you are a level 18. No idea how easy it will be to find a couple of players willing to join!

Sorry if it's been asked already, but does anyobe know when Bungie plans to add salvage and combined arms to the crucible? Will it come with the update adding the raid tuesday?

Yeah, this confuses me a bit. Since I'm around level 12 now is there any gameplay reason to head back to Earth? I don't want to be one of "those guys" sprinting past all the random low level players dissolving all of the ambient enemies in the area with the blink of an eye.

How are these areas meant to be approached once you've out-leveled the missions?
Okay! I see some opportunity to shed some light on things I think people may be missing:
  • While there's a difference in your power and abilities, it seems to me like you're always scaled back to a nominally reasonable amount of damage when in an outleveled area (survivability however is massively improved). In other words, I don't kill level 3s with one bullet to the ankle at level 17. I think this is because...
  • On Hard mode, playing even low level stuff can drop rewards at your level. I got two engrams yesterday replaying a Level 5 story mission. This incentivizes grouping with lowbies to help them out, too, of course. It's worth sending a fireteam request when you run into someone.
  • Beacon missions and bounties still give you relevant XP even if you're way overleveled. For example, at level 12 you could still go to the bounty tracker and pick up a "Do 6 Quests in Old Russia" bounty, and complete it for legit rewards.
  • Finally, not that they're popping with any reliability, but Public Events seem to be unique to each area, so you can't see the Earth ones on Venus, etc.

I missed that post, but if you want my honest advice, don't ask people what they are or aren't okay with in a work of fiction that you're writing. It's yours. If someone doesn't like an element that you introduce outside the scope of the game then that's very much their problem.

Played for a couple of hours with reptilescorpio and Nightengale last night, 'twas fun. (Sorry i kept dying lol). Hopefully can put more hours this weekend and find some decent gear. :-)

Also why can't I change the sound levels? I thought it was just some beta thing.

I'm about to jump on and play for a bit. I just turned level 15 and have a blank slate for the Defender subclass. Since it gives the most xp, I think I'm going straight into Crucible. I will have no special abilities, jump, super, or anything. This should be interesting...

AAn aside, there's no real reason to belong to a clan at the moment, yes? I'm in the DestinyGAF groups, but I'd like to stick with the clan that my friends set up for now if I could.

The loot is so random it's painful, I just want loot bungie, why you hating on me? reach cryptarch level 4 receive epic packet in e-mail, becomes two rare engrams which becomes one uncommon item and a mote of light. Wtf Bungie?

I don't mind items being random but getting coins and light from engrams is annoying and dumb.

This makes me with it had dc universive's systems with Destinys gameplay
Oh... you mean wish? I only had to read it six times ;p

So you're saying the game auto-balances players? I can run as a level 10 with a group of level 5's and I won't destroy everything in a heartbeat? And that mission rewards always scale?

If this is true it should be cried from the heavens.

Does anyone know if progress transfers across platforms (i.e. From PS4 to Xbox One)

I just bought this again for my Xbox One (don't ask me why lol) and I'd rather not start from level one

Well unless the ranking change with more psn parse my friend and I scored world first (according to psnprofile) on the trophy to find 50 ghost hunter. Missing only a few on Mars now, some of these advice are pretty cryptic heh.

A suggestion, wait until you score yourself a nice rare or legendary HC before you start playing Tex Gunman.

I found an amazing HC that has an 11 round mag and hits like a goddamn truck, and I was absolutely slaying with it (partly due to synergy with Titan Defender ultra fast reload ability, but still amazing on its own).

3 rounds is needlessly punishing yourself, even 6 is harsh, if you face more than one dude you're probably toast.

Keep an eye out for a HC that has high impact, a good magazine size or magazine enhancing mods, and useful mods and effects.

... of course I also found a Shingen E last night with two Stability mods on it...

Alright! Great to know. Though, once the chapter is out, don't be afraid to correct my location descriptions and whatnot. I'm gonna end up hopping back and forth between the game and the story to make sure I accurately depict areas in the game that I place the characters.

I predict that I'm gonna have maybe a small handful of mistakes on that front.

Also, I wrote quite a few fanfictions for the
MLP fandom (most of them were adventure ideas I had a quick idea about and decided to write up)
, so I know a bit about future-proofing stories.

While that is true, it's a good thing to know how far I /can/ go beforehand. That way, I can map out the story accordingly. As it stands,
the story ends up involving a massive computer AI that the protagonist faces off against
and stuff like this is good to know where I can and can't go.

Is there somewhere I can see all the bonuses available? All I see in the advisor tab is the ones I am close to finishing. I want to see all available.

Jesus so my HDMI connection cut out right in the middle of the boss fight with Sepiks.

Spent the new 30 seconds panicking as I disconnected an reconnected to damn cable twice before the picture came back.

On the bright side, I won the Shingen-C Auto Rifle from the fight :-)

Well it doesn't scale you down completely. But there's a cap on how much damage you can do to lower level enemies so you won't completely annihilate everything in your path.

You still up for the heroic strike?

I haven't been playing the game too long, but I don't feel like the game has made the MMO elements all that obvious, e.g. what exactly I'm supposed to be doing with everyone else. It just seems like people are kind of...there when I do missions. I get that there are other game modes, but I'm not really sure where I'm supposed to go to find out about them.

Welp, had two days off Tueaday and have been playing this non stop since then. Just came in to say the Hand Cannons are fucking beasts. I'm in love with this game and so addicted to leveling up and getting new gear. After seeing all those legendary pieces, I'm pretty sure I'll be playing this game for a long long time.

The star map in space. That's how you get into any game mode.

Yes! You will still be more powerful and competent (I mean, let's face it, the levels aren't all that changed in the meantime- you got more abilities and better guns), but you won't trivialize the content, and the rewards do scale.

exceptions:
-don't ever play normal mode. I assume this is there for less skilled/casual players who just want to play without much challenge and get help when they need it- in normal mode, a high level WILL completely obliterate everything and render it pointless.
-does not work in the other direction. e.g. grouping with a level 15 doesn't enable a level 5 to be able to hold their own in the Moon strike

I meant more like something that explains what they are and such. I assumed there'd be an NPC in the central town, but I couldn't find one.

Fuck yes, I just unlocked the Triple Play trophy! Had started to think I would never get it.

What's hilarious is that it was after the Control match had ended and I launched a hail mary Titan super attack and got a triple down, apparently killing one of each class :D

It's bullshit of Bungie to have the description of that trophy say one thing, but then it actually requires the 3 classes to be killed in quick succession.

I read somewhere here on NeoGAF that you more commonly get weapon drops of a certain type if you frequently use that type. Bullshit?

Ok guys my mind was just fucking blown with the stuff they put into this game. i need to know if anyone else has noticed this yet or if I am the first. If I am the first, which I doubt, then just wow at putting something like that in just as a cool touch:

When you arrive in the tower a few seconds after you get transmat in, you can SEE YOUR SHIP FLY BEHIND YOU INTO THE SHIP HANGAR. If someone stands in the hangar at that time, he can SEE YOUR SHIP LAND AND GET TAKEN DOWN AN ELEVATOR.

The same is true for anyone who shows up in the tower. Three people just teleported in? Three ships will fly in and land at the hangar, one a bit after the others cause there are only 2 elevators.

Just. My mind is just blown. Bungie put in a totally missable, not even really obvious way of showing you where the hell your ship goes after you land. And of course it is YOUR ship, the one you bought which ever one it is.

Anyone else blown away by that? I'd post a video but fuck linking my PSN to my Facebook.

Lol yeah sorry, fucking iPad

By the way, Hand Cannons are awesome. I'm a Titan and I just can't leave it behind. Wish I could take an assault rifle as my secondary, that Shotgun's just dead weight when I can smash everything anyway.

Considering Hand Cannon is my most used and it's the only gun type I don't have a Rare version of I'm going to say yeah lol. I've had numerous rares for most others but no hand cannons =(

Getting 5000 kills with a primary, 2500 with special or 1000 with a heavy weapon type makes that weapon type start getting more XP though, so there's that.

Hand cannon, sniper, golden gun is a beast setup for hunter, especially with precision perks on the weapons.

Every random pvp vid I see has auto rifles though. Are the cannons only viable PvE?
