I can understand the Platinum and 3DS requirements, but the email is just plain dumb.

It may be a legal liability thing. "Even if this is marketing that a high percentage of our fans actually wish to absorb, we lumped all marketing into one opt-out box so our lawyers say we cannot just drop the spamhammer on all platinum members."

Just got this email from Nintendo Customer Service: "Thanks for contacting us. Regarding the special demo of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, please be aware that we are still sending out the emails to all those who qualify. This should be complete by 1:00pm Pacific time today. The email is how you'll receive the download codes. You will not find them in your Club Nintendo account."

So if I turn on those fucking emails in the next hour and ten minutes I might still get codes.

Wish they'd just put a big button on the front page.

Once again, even on the website they say that opting out of marketing emails does not prevent you from getting emails about things such as Club Nintendo rewards shipping, etc.
