Yeah I did it yesterday and it really doesn't seem that worthwhile to get legendaries directly. But it's a good way to level up the Cryptarch.
 
Lol I hypocritically commented in another thread how this game hasn't fully impressed me yet I played for 8 1/2 hours straight after work.

Exactly. So 100 marks per week. Each item is what, 125 marks?

So full set of armor would be 500 marks.

Meh, only 5 WEEKS to get the marks necessary to purchase all legendary equipment lol.

Then get strange coins for the shadow dude in the tower for exotics.

Compare that to just running pvp all day, play well or not doesnt matter, with a high chance of rare / legendary / exotics crashing in your lap.

N-N-N-NOPE!
Helmets alone are 120 Marks, all other pieces of armour are 65 Marks. So 3 pieces in the first 2 weeks, 2 in the next 2.

It's EXTREMELY random. I do the level 20 Vanguard Strike Playlist a lot and rarely get any... Well rares or legendaries. When I do it's the random Legendaary Cryptarch stuff and when I do decrypt it, it decides to yield a green uncommon instead =/ Though I have gotten a few strange coins from them.

At the same time I did PvP, and the first match since I bought the game I ate shit in and was second to last place (it was TDM and I was playing half asleep and watching Giant Bomb videos on my other monitor at the same time) I somehow got a legendary scout rifle.

This game.

I think it's only blue engrams and above which get sent. I've purposefully left green engrams on Venus before and went to check if they had been sent to the postmaster and they weren't there.

I just got LEGENDARY BOUNTY from robot on the tower. 3 individual missions, one on Venus, Mars and Weekly/Nightfall Strike. What's the prize for solving that?

Nightfall strikes are not yet unlocked right?

I'm having a lot of fun with the game but the City reminds me of PS Home in a very bad way. So many different areas that are meaningless.
 
So I switch from dead orbit to new monarchy, reason being grenades aren't that important to me in combat so discipline isn't much of a deal breaker. Gonna take me a little longer to get to where I want to be but at least I'll have proper gear in the end.
 
Man, I don't understand people anymore. Last night I
was a good space knight plundering an ancient tomb for a mystical dark sword on the fucking moon. I had to kill an evil space knight for it.

What do people want nowadays? If that isn't the greatest story ever told I literally don't know what is. I'm not even taking the piss here. We're talking outer space warlocks and moon wizards and how is there not already some new religion coming from all this glory?
Did I mention I went on a quest to kill a fucking space troll with my brother last night? A SPACE TROLL, GUYS.

This hits all my buttons. Every single, solitary last one of them.
 
I get so salty when my team wins, I carry a match and end up with a 2.whatever KD and I get no items while the dude who has a .3 k/d spread who did nothing gets a legendary item.

So going to write this here just for the sake of anyone wanting to try, it's the safest method I could come up with.

Mesh hacking zone
As soon as you deploy your ghost to hack the terminal/computer thing, run left towards the entrance to the hive cave, and jump over the fuel tanker thing, from here pick off as many enemies as you can, walking around the left side and jumping on top of the fuel tank closer to the little arena area when needed, a fusion rifle works extremely well against the fallen captains, cuts their shield away for fun.
Once you get it to 2/3 your ghost will mention that more fallen and now hive are coming - HIDE, right at the back where you first ran to, just sit tight and peek now and then, let them fight each other until one side is completely victorious, then again pick off the stragglers, continue this until it says 3/3 and you're able to push on to the next area.

Walker
So my technique here is to enter the arena, and cling to the left wall, and follow it all the way around the left side until you encounter some fallen and dregs, pick them off while still pushing forward and you should be able to slip in to the building to the left of the walker, theres stairs going up here, take them.
All you do then is peek out and pick off the dregs/fallen and switch to fusion rifle whenever a fallen captain appears, be mindful of dreg grenades.
Rather than do the usual attacking of its legs (though you may have to depending on skillset) i simply logged grenades at the walker, then tucked safely back half way up the stairs and went off of the sound to tell when the walker had dropped and exposed its neck - for me since the grenades were doing so much damage, it made more sense to pick off the stragglers and the sniping fallen while the tank was out of action.

Not assets but I do believe this game started out as a halo game. I remember the rumors around the time of ODST about a halo mmo game being in planning stages.

Microsoft probably eventually put it on the back burner and weren't behind it when they decided they wanted it to be a new universe so destiny was born and bungie left.

That's just my opinion.

Reading all these posts about random loot, you might as well just go PVP and run around half-afk and make it end faster.

Did that with friends yesterday, considering the challenge there's no way I'm doing that with randoms.

However, I wouldn't mind there being the option of matchmaking, just that I would never use it.

Don't be salty then, chances are you have some already if you're that good and put more time in.

It's a fair system, not everyone can be decent players.
 
1 more Strange Coin then the No Backup Plans gauntlets are mine!

I'll be back in about an hour or so, looking for a party of 3 or 6 to do some Salvage or other PvP! So many good and easy Crucible bounties today.

It's really fucking annoying that Bungie want to impose their friends rule on everyone.

It's hard as fuck to arrange anything with friends when you're an adult. That's even assuming they have the same console, game and PS Plus/live.
 
Gonna be logging on again for a few hours in about half an hour.

If anybody would like to do some co-op stuff (no voice chat pls), particularly strikes or story missions on hard, add me on the PSN thingy - same name as here, or just invite me if you're already a friend.

Happy to do some PvP / patrol too, but wanna good run at some challenging co-op stuff.

Yeah totally. And since every single thing in the game is better with others, even if they are randoms, they should have matchmaking available for everything. Very annoying, especially considering how great Halo was with matchmaking for just about every single thing you could do.
