I'm excited to jump into the raids, but I'm only level 15 so it'll be awhile...

Do the raids have matchmaking like Strike missions have? I hope so...

is this random on a per-mob basis or do specific mob types have the same vulnarabilities? - e.g. wizards always having yellow shields?

would love some table of shield type per mob so i could equip the proper guns at the beginning of a strike.

As a general rule you can go with;

Fallen - Captains - Blue
Hive - Wizards - Yellow
Vex - Minotaurs - Purple
Cabal - Centurions - Yellow

I'm pretty sure that the shield color is always the same, atleast within strike content. Higher difficulties might be different, apparently on the 28 difficulty enemies gain new shields.

When they look at the data and realize a very very small percentage of people are seeing this content, they will relent and let people PUG.

Same. Are you doing the Strike playlist? Or what are you doing to grind..?

Nah, but i figure that's what i need to do now as i've just been farming enemies in PvE all over. Tons of green and blue drops but nothing really worth wile. It's crazy how people next to me will get multiple legendary drops on a patrol walk through with me but i find maybe 3 greens. WTF

And then they throw a curve at you like the Vex Harpy will have a blue shield.

Lmao. My brother got 2 legendaries last night in a patrol on the moon... meanwhile, 3 days in and nothing but blues for me. I did find 2 pieces with Light on them by doing the Strike playlist though. So I'd recommend doing the bounties if you can (for Vandguard marks/rep) and then the Strike playlist... It seems to be what people are doing anyway...

Maybe one day our luck will turn around... maybe... hopefully... PLEASE

I'm sad school is preventing me from jumping in day one. I'm a high enough level. Now when I do the raid, everyone will already know what to do :(

Is there any word on the progression of the raid? I haven't seen any "we cleared it" posts online and since the game is in it's infancy I didn't figure there was a website dedicated to this stuff yet (if there ever will need to be one is yet to be determined).

Lol shit i hope so! But i really don't like the Crucible and with the limited areas to explore i'm starting to find myself asking, "Why do i need to this gear besides the raid?" If that raid is more of the same i'll be less motivated to continue the grind.

Ah, I figure we'll know. Destiny is what's hot right now.

I'm sorry it's not my intention to spam and I'll only post this once as I already posted it in the original Destiny thread but since this is relevant.

Hi guys I almost always play only Crucible and Strikes. I'm in the top 4% in the world at k/D ratio and #5 overall at average kills per game I'm not bragging but for fuck sake would anyone who wants to do some weekly hard-core strikes and the Vault of Glass just add me already it's been a week since launch.

I don't care if you suck at this game or die a lot and I have to carry you I just want to play with anyone who plays this game for the weekly/daily challenges and Vault of Glass.

I think this highlights the problem with Destiny, you shouldn't need to go begging on forums in order to play, this isn't an MMO (right?). Strickland/Serby I hope you get to play, if I could I would but I'm on XB1 (and only level 19). Good luck.

The raid actually looks good. They've at least added in some new mechanics.

My biggest worry with the rest of the game is that it's mostly the same old routine. I wish they'd add some more interesting stuff to the missions and strikes, rather than 'press square to activate horde mode' or "kill the bulletsponge".

I'm not sure I understand the people bitching about equipment and level requirements already. It's week 1. Unless you've been using a poopsock to maximise your grind availability, you probably shouldn't have the top tier equipment. The raid is the toughest content in the game, so you shouldn't be playing/completing it already unless you are the hardest of the hardcore who loves the grind.

Matchmaking is all kinds of fucked up though. The built in system doesn't even allow voice chat, so it would be utterly pointless to include it for the raid.
The game really needs some social features. Even in big clans like DGAF it's really hard to get a group together since the clan list is not integrate into the game.
The raid is the least of my concerns with this. I mean, it's a raid, so I expect to do a bit of organisation to get a group together.
It's much worse for regular play, since no one wants to schedule their day with generic strikes/patrols/chest-hunting/PvP groups.
Stick the damn clan roster into the game and let us flag ourselves as wanting a PvP/PvE group or something.

Just added this to OP

This is the best method I've seen for getting good armor and weapons really fast without grinding out strikes or getting screwed over by the randomness of the crucible. I'm curious to see how well this spot works for you all!
P.S. This also works for people over level 20 looking to get better gear.

I can't for the life of me understand why they havent done something like this. I mean they realize what their game is.... ( i assume ) and with clans you need a basic "Hey i'm down for raids right now..." flag/highlight to let others quickly find others. It really can't be difficult to implement.

I think Bungie wanted people to forge their own groups of 3 instead of relying on the age old, grab whomever is around and go.

Think they wanted people to build a stronger community then that and explore together and run together and farm together and whatnot.

I do see more people wanting to commune though in this game so far. I am constantly running into Fireteams while out patrolling as they go on missions or do whatever it is that they are doing.

Are there any primary weapons with elemental damage?

No. Pop shield with elemental wep. Switch to primary to kill enemy.

I think there's one issue with this: You're saying that yes, it's fine that you haven't got to the raid yet because you haven't done as much poopsocking as those who have, and that's fair enough - but it suggests that you still have to (on average, RNG dictating exactly how much) accumulate that much play over time, don't you? Or are there catchup mechanics in place?

(Also: When you get to raid level, is there a reason to play strikes? One major issue with early WoW was that it was hard to get *to* the current raid requirements because the bulk of the playerbase had moved beyond the content required to get that gear.)

My problem is right now I'm 15 and I have to suffer through some pretty crappy loot drops and the RNG gods deciding engrams aren't actually legendary to even see the raid. It sounds like a great piece of content which is nice to hear from the rather dull pieces so far, but I really hope loot is fixed soon. I don't want to be showered like in Borderlands or Diablo, but at least give me something for killing a boss.

Lol, nope. Was doing that for a long while yesterday as well as the Shrine of Orax (name?) glimmer/cryptarch grind. Nada. Not one legendary with either method about 6 hrs of grinding.

Read the Reddit thread I posted. Ppl saying they are getting loads of rare and legendary gear.

People defending Bungie for not adding Matchmaking for raids are crazy.

They could easily implement a system where only people with microphones attached are able to search for a playlist, so that you can talk. And people saying there are plenty of places online to easily find people to play with. But guess what? They aren't your friends. They are just as random as people who you would be thrown in at matchmaking.

I'm lvl 24 but took a while and some luck to get there thanks to shit drop rate. Maybe one day I'll get to play this raid...

Yeah, I'm 21 and this looks a long ways off. Not to mention the fact that I will then need to form a group without the aid of matchmaking, which is easier said than done with my schedule.

Thanks Bungie.

This is a great point. That's basically what happens when I put a group together on message boards. Ends up being no different than matchmaking.

Thanks, but i'm well aware lol. I was doing this a while ago when the video was first posted. Before the masses. I've still never got anything worth wile. If you're lower looking for rare it's a valid grind. That said i'll still be trying it with my other loops just for shits and giggles lol.

Disclaimer: never played destiny and never will.

But DAMN has the gamerculture degenerated in regards to Fast Food Gameplay.

Anyone remember that you had to Level 1 to 3 months in classic World of Warcraft to maxlevel? And then you didnt even consider doing raids for another 2 to 4 months (dependent on willingness of own playtime and doing prereq normal Group dungeons. And THEN you had to gather 40 FORTY "Friends" to raid.

IN MY TIME! We would go to the blackrockdeeps (+ the famous escort quest) on a Sunday morning and get out in the evening!

Thank god WoW has improved since then! I got raid ready in Mists in about a week, and did all of the raid content in about 2 weeks.

Parts of this game it's like... they looked at vanilla WoW and were like, "this is how you do it!" without realizing all the quality of life changes Blizzard has made since launch up until now have made the game a 1000 fucking times better.

I think the required levelling is fine. I want to feel like I've earned end game content. We have better systems for match making though, let's use them.

This was 10 Years ago in the MMO Stoneage.

It was fine because we didn´t know it better, but now....hanging out in the Game waiting years for players to do some Sholo Runs because your friends have reallife was fun like hell.

Difference here is that the content between level 1 and the raids in WoW was actually interesting and rewarding.

Yep. And I was calling that a mind numbingly boring slog back then too.

What other MMO was successfull on the level of WoW? The new MMO´s cant hold their Audiences

But we get offtopic (or are we? how long will Destiny last with this kind of backlash? *shrug*)

Instant Gratification culture,

I feel like I've played a fair bit of Destiny in the first week, and I'm only level 14. These Raids just sound like ridiculously hardcore exercises. 3 hours? Yeah, I've got a full time job and responsibilities. I'd like to experience everything this game has to offer, but this just seems a bit overboard.

Couldn't you have a Raid just be an hour? Maybe once in a great while you unleash a 3 hour one, but the first one is 3 hours and requires level 26? A lot of the people playing this game will never finish it.

As I thought, this thread is going to devolve into "Why no matchmaking bungie ffs" (As I think it should since they omitted anything that could help people find groups in game)

Also,

The Raid looks like it has some really interesting design mechanics, where the hell where these for the storie missions and strikes?

I really cant help but think this game went through development hell seeing how watered down the main game is. This game needed about 6 more months in the oven it seems like.

I think it saves your progress so you can come back to it the next night and night after that.

More mobs get a shield the higher the difficulty. I did last weeks Nightfall strike and Shanks get a Solar shield (red/orange). Doing the correct type of damage is absolutely essential. Can't wait to do this raid. The Nightfall Strike was super difficult, yet fun. Hope the raid is similar. I'm like a sliver away from 27, hoping to make it to 27 today before my vacation is over.
