Yeah, I'm 21 and this looks a long ways off. Not to mention the fact that I will then need to form a group without the aid of matchmaking, which is easier said than done with my schedule.

Thanks Bungie.

This is a great point. That's basically what happens when I put a group together on message boards. Ends up being no different than matchmaking.

Yeah it's clear they didn't have time to implement matchmaking which is a huge shame. Hopefully now they have the ground works, they can implement and change this for the inevitable sequel. They will support this for a year but will then move on to Destiny 2. I can't see the numbers lasting for them to continually support this game.

Watching some of the stream and thinking about how long these are going to take has me thinking I'll probably never really get to to Raid. Even if I get together with a group on DGAF, I can't imagine I'll be able to get on consistently during the rest of the week unless my GF is out of town the whole time. That's not Bungie's fault though other than making it a multi-session affair.

I think Bungie wanted people to forge their own groups of 3 instead of relying on the age old, grab whomever is around and go.

Think they wanted people to build a stronger community then that and explore together and run together and farm together and whatnot.

Which is why it's so frustrating that they haven't included the basic tools in game to make that happen as organically as possible. Sometimes even discouraging it (by restricting voice chat so much). Like a poster said above, even just adding the clan roster to your game and some flagging elements would make a world of difference.

So ... does this make ppl more excited for Destiny?

It still seems dull, poorly structured and lacking in content. Grinding a single raid for gear doesn't sound like a fix for any of those problems. No doubt any future raids (hell, probably any meaningful additions at all) will be tied to paid DLC too, given that it's Activision we're talking about here.

I feel like I've played a fair bit of Destiny in the first week, and I'm only level 14. These Raids just sound like ridiculously hardcore exercises. 3 hours? Yeah, I've got a full time job and responsibilities. I'd like to experience everything this game has to offer, but this just seems a bit overboard.

Couldn't you have a Raid just be an hour? Maybe once in a great while you unleash a 3 hour one, but the first one is 3 hours and requires level 26? A lot of the people playing this game will never finish it.

You don't have to finish a raid in one day...

Also we have 5-6 level 18-20 so we should be raiding in another week or so. I hit level 22 already. We might need spares so if anyone wants add me on PSN: quickwhips and I'll throw you invites if we are short.

Yeah, bring back the glory days of trying to put groups together in chat. What bullshit.

After grouping a few times you had people to run with, this is building a community.

I got invites too all the time from people I had played with.

This is absolutely what Bungie wanted, but it's backfired in a huge way on Bungie. The most fun in Destiny comes from playing with friends, and Bungie's visions of this being a game meant for friends resulted in a piss poor experience for people who don't have friends who play games, have similar schedules, or just aren't interested in Destiny. The lack of matchmaking has probably resulted in more people playing solo, exactly how Bungie doesn't want this game played. If I had friends with PS4s and Destiny I'd be playing with them exclusively, but I don't and as a result Bungie has made me jump through hoops to find others to play with.

In this day and age, limiting something as big as raids to "friends only" match-making feels like a poor decision to me.

Even if it's more difficult with five random players, I'm sure people would at least appreciate the option.

Well I will definitely never get to play these things. 2 of my friends have the game, and the rest of my friends are not really amped up to play the game. :(

Gear is like 150 marks per piece. You get a max of 100 a week. People can't even have bought their first piece yet.

Weapons are 150 marks (Vanguard). Guantlets are only 100, helmets 120, and I forget what chest plates are.

Point is, you can have already bought something already. It's possible to have enough rep and marks for both Vanguard and Crucible to have bought AT LEAST two pieces of Legendary gear by now to supplement your (lack of) drops.

Parts of this game it's like... they looked at vanilla WoW and were like, "this is how you do it!" without realizing all the quality of life changes Blizzard has made since launch up until now have made the game a 1000 fucking times better.

I feel the exact same way, it's freaky how similar a lot of the stuff is to 2004, and not in a good way. Hell, all their talk about the raid is like a flashback to back in the day. Coordinating schedules with people out of the game is part of the fun! Sinking hours and hours in for completion is expected! It's designed to exclude the vast majority of our players! I just don't see the widespread appeal, though I am glad they mixed up the encounter design from the sounds of it. Shame most people will never see it though.

Content today, IMO, should be boiled down into greater quantity, but shorter, segments so people can jump on and accomplish something in 15m if that's all you have or 60m for a raid. Even strikes are too long due to the ridiculous hp pool IMO. Make it 12 strikes instead of 6,but each take half the time.

Not even, the helmets and weapons are 120, everything else is 65 (or 60 I think).

2 weeks and you can have 3/4 pieces.

Hell you can have a full set of Legendary if you do not mind mix and matching. I am oing to go for a Dead Orbit armors and Vanguard Helmet by friday if everything works out!

Its why WoW has Raid Finder. Some people don't have the time necessary, the place in their schedule, or... well... friends to do the content. So there's an easy version of the Raid that's missing some mechanics you can match-make for with randoms, you don't get the absolutely best gear for doing them but you get a lower level similar version. You get to experience the content, you get gear upgrades, you have fun and people who want a challenge and even higher level gear can progress to the normal and heroic versions of the raids.

Would take me another 20 hours to farm for level 26 gear probably, then have to find 5 people from somewhere. Never gonna happen.

Same here, most-likely. I don't have that level of interest.

IMO that just indicates how silly this is. Why do they need to be 3 hours? An hour would suite most people just fine.

It can only be done once a week. IMO, it would be pretty disappointing if the main end game content could be finished in 1 hour. I'm assuming you've never played an MMO, 2-3+ hour raids are pretty normal.

The amount of wipes is incredible among all these streams. Half of the time, entire team gets wiped at once, in a second. WTF happens at that time?

lvl 26 required? This must be a joke right? Or typo? How the fuck Bungie expects people to be level 26 within a week? Hollyshit man. I am at lvl 21 after 17-20hr Destiny. wtf? The progression is too slow after lvl 20. I cant play this strike now :(

So, the bosses seem really similar:

bosses stand there and take a bazillion shots to the face
Bosses summon guys that kill you
Run around killing small guys that kill you then shoot boss in face

Repeat until successful.

Is there a summary, or live text comments ? I can't watch twitch right now (and wouldn't spend hours doing so anyway).

Not that I know of. I'm just watching the StreamerHouse stream on Twitch.

This looks like a much different game from the early game.

This Atheon boss is absorbing bullets like a fucking Shamwow.

Yeah, they probably dealt like 1 000 000 damage to him and the end result is:

1% of his health down.

Fucking ridiculous.

Here is what I don't get; Bungie and Blizzard now work for the same company. Why couldn't they consult them on how to make a decent raid?

Figured as much. Whelp that sounds like more of the same. *yawns*

It's pretty obvious they have not figured out how to make him vulnerable.

Wait....really? There has to be some kind of mechanic that makes the boss weak during a certain phase of the fight. Are they all just really dumb bullet sponges with one "one-shot" kill move you have to avoid?

Disclaimer: never played destiny and never will.

But DAMN has the gamerculture degenerated in regards to Fast Food Gameplay.

Anyone remember that you had to Level 1 to 3 months in classic World of Warcraft to maxlevel? And then you didnt even consider doing raids for another 2 to 4 months (dependent on willingness of own playtime and doing prereq normal Group dungeons. And THEN you had to gather 40 FORTY "Friends" to raid.

IN MY TIME! We would go to the blackrockdeeps (+ the famous escort quest) on a Sunday morning and get out in the evening!

I think BRD is actually bigger than any one planet in Destiny.

Made it to the Throne of Glass, right before where that streamer is with my fireteam tonight. Best part of the game hands down, had so much fun tonight

Yesterday: "wtf Bungie why isn't there any content for week 1 max light endgame players?"
Today: "wtf Bungie why did you make content for week 1 max light endgame players?"
