Yup, destiny is sorely lacking any time of in game communication as well as in game clan support.

When you do a strike, you automatically have voice chat. You get to both see how they perform and judge their demeanor. Do some strikes and don't try to recruit people dancing in the Tower.

have you watched the stream, it cannot be played with random people without dedicated coordination (movement, location). And it apparently takes over 4 hours to complete. What random people are going to do that with you? :D

Aw c'mon. Plenty of guys will help. If you're dedicated enough to get to level 26, you're dedicated to completing a Raid. Bungie is seriously underestimating their audience. At least offer a lower tier Raid for randoms with shittier loot as practice. Making people watch streams to check it out is far more laughable to me.

Because if you grouped randoms you have no quality control. You have people leaving halfway, sitting around AFK, people who don't know how to do the fights... that would be the shittiest of experiences. At least with people you know you can count on you will be able to make some progress.

Raiding should award hard work, dedication, teamwork. If it gives away the glory and gear for free, it all becomes worthless.

If you're not willing to do put in the work, play the other 95% of the game. Raiding isn't for you.

How old are you?

I only ask because in my experience it is incredibly difficult to get 6 people, who have families, jobs, other responsibilities and live in opposite coasts, together at the same time to do anything, let alone a raid. I understand what Bungie is trying to do but it feels forced. If the raid is in fact that challenging then it should promote cooperation regardless of who you are playing with because ultimately lack of teamwork will result in failure.

Last I checked they said normal mode was for practice and hard mode Vault would be the serious raid.

There should be a lower tier raid, agree wholeheartedly. An LFR from WoW if you will. That being said, LFR in WoW is a cesspool of shit, player wise.

You didn't ask me, but I'm in my 30's and only recently retired from WoW raiding due to medical issues. And those raids had 10-25 people doing 3 hours a night two to three nights a week. They happen weekly. Currently.

It seems you are not anymore the target audience ;) me neither

I'm 28, with a 9-6 job. I play with others who have the time, when they have the time. If they don't have the time, we don't do the raid. The people I play with have kids of their own, but they find the time to play. If they have to get up, I can wait. We all have the time. Weekends exist, and I am patient.

Patience is hard to come by, these days.

wait, mic is turned on for strikes but not crucible?

Nope, thank god.

MIC is turned on the moment you are in a Fireteam. But only for fireteam members.

Thank god too. Nothing worse then entering a game and hearing some 11 year old yelling at people or hearing someones music over the mics. Then spending the next couple of minutes muting everyone.

also, some may not know this but the Raid saves your progress when you leave.

:(

It's probably true though. I've been playing during my free time since launch and I just hit level 20. It's going to take me awhile to get to 26 to experience a raid. I'll start getting upset about finding a group when I'm actually of level to do the raid.

Can you believe in WoW, there use to be 40 man raids that lasted a couple hours, at least, and there were adults? Bungie needs to get the clan system more robust to facilitate playing with your clan members, but finding 5 decent players for a couple hours should not be that hard if you're in a clan.

This is so dumb.... "Our game has been out for a week so... you need to be the max level to do this raid and have six friends who you can't level up with because our co-op only allows for 3 people."

Yup oh.. so thought out.

But Destiny is not an MMO :)

Can't believe so many people expect to see end-game content after just a week. The only people expected to be at 26+ at this point are the hard core people who can spend 30+ hours playing the game a week. I'd be pretty let down if all it took to reach the end game was 15-20 hours. I'm supposed to be playing this game for months, not a couple weeks.

To be fair I spent 26 hours last week and got stuck at 24. I should be leveled enough to play it. Gonna play it anyways.

Is the raid 4 hours straight??? No way there has to be checkpoints right

Edit: I'm an idiot it's in the op!

Actually I like a 4 hour additional mission idea. too bad I need the random luck of the gods to get to lvl 26 :(

Dont have to. The Raid saves progress.

Wait. Meaning i can run multiple instances of the Raid with different groups and it picks up at the latest spot? Or just our team of 6 can stop for the day and pick up tomorrow. (Which i thought everyone knew?) Sorry, it's a Monday morning for me (off work all day yesterday playing Destiny lol)

Just join a fun-clan or use other ways to seek likeminded people that can play in a similar timeframe. You don't have to team up with 6 your real live buddies. I have joined a fun-clan at 34 and there are guys playing in their 40s and above. Not everybody is available at any time, thats for sure. And it gets worse the older you get and more responsibilities you have. But if you have a group of 30+ like minded people you can play with, there is always somebody available.

Count the hours it takes to him max level and get readily geared in any other game that has raids. What are you comparing this experience to that you've decided you "should" be able to jump into a raid with a week's worth of moderate play?

Are people looking at this shit. Matchmaking just barely, BARELY, makes it possible for 6 people to pew pew each other without failing in any game ever. These guys (on the Gothalion stream) have been trying to figure this shit out for an hour I have watched and still getting absolutely wasted. 6 random dumbasses couldn't figure this out ever.

I'll be a high enough level to enter once Bungie decides that Legendary Engrams shouldn't result in blue loot.

Im considering starting to save my legendary engrams until they patch this.

Ive gotten 1 legendary item from about 15 legendary engrams.

Honestly I don't have too much of an issue with the decision to not have matchmaking (though they need better in game social mechanics).

But what really disappoints me is that it really looks like they put way more effort into designing something fun/interesting in this raid, that unfortunately due to the mm and social restrictions not too many people will get to experience.

Hiding the most fun content/ideas in the end game, makes 0 sense.

I am only level 20, so nah. I am not going to grind my ass off just so I can play a 4 hour raid. Hey Bungie, did you know that if I beat my head against a wall for 20 hours my head will stop hurting? As by that time, I will either be knocked out or dead. Horrible game design.

Yeah, seeing them try to figure out what's going on, and the various "things" that are going on, remind me of COIL on FFXIV. Public/Matchmaking would be horrible for this.

Yup oh.. so thought out.

They don't expect most people to be at this level. Currently it's only for the real hardcore guys.

Before LFG overhaul, guilds managed to complete 40man Vanilla WoW and 25man TBC with mostly working adults.

You are talking about 6 here. Six.

If there's anything to be upset about with Destiny's progression, it's this. I think in the OT there was a guy who said he had a level 14 crypto-dude and had never decrypted a legendary.

I'm not familiar with MMORPG or big missions like that, but what would prevent 6 random people to be smart, communicate and find a boss weakness together ? It's not like knowing each other makes us smarter.

It sounds like a clan is the way to go. I'm already part of the GAF clan. Time to get my buddies to join.

What? No you don't. There's only voice chat if, after starting the strike, someone in the strike invites the other 2 randoms to a party.

Talking about matchmaking, as saying there is voice chat in strikes that you are already going into with people from your friends list is a given.

Hmmm, I dunno.

According to the website and Bungie, they state " the fireteam leader is very important, choose wisely "

I think the progress is saved for the Fireteam leader. So yeah, if you have multiple friends who are Fireteam leaders on strikes, then you can be in multiple strike teams and do multiple Raids.

I'm guessing the fireteam leader loads up the raid back to where they left off and then brings in the members. I havent read anything about the whole team being saved.
