Nvidia GTX 980/970 3DMark Scores Leaked- from Videocardz.com

$519AUD is sound really cheap to me. Cause EVGA 780 Ti cost around $849AUD here in Australia.

But you have to remember that people who is living in Australia to have pay "Australia Tax" on any products coming from USA such as video games, computer hardwares etc.

:P
Yeah, that's what I got. I suppose someone had a higher res image, but this could have been easily photoshopped in too.

Are we still under the assumption there will be 8gb variants of the 970 and 980? I remember hearing this would be the case some time ago. I generally hang on to my video cards for at least 3 or 4 years. I'm still running a 4890 for example. I'm wondering if I should go with an 8gb 970 as opposed to the 4gb. This would be paired with an i7920@4ghz and 1080p resolution.

You really don't need 8GB.

Save for Ubisoft's shenanigans, for 1080p I'd say go with 4GB, it's probably going to be more than enough. That's what I'm gonna do anyway.

I don't even think 8gb is enough for a ubi port

I know you're kidding, but I looked up some Watch Dogs benchmark (never bothered before) and results are all over the place. This one shows that a Titan with 6GB does the same as a 780Ti with 3GB, about 80fps. Tom's Hardware barely reaches 65fps with an overclocked Titan.

I don't know what to think, but 4GB of vRAM should be sufficient. :lol

For most games at 1080p, yes. There will be a few things (like Watch Dogs) that will run bad no matter how much RAM you have. Then there's always Skyrim that can use 6GB if you add enough mods.

For the next big upgrade after this card, then it will probably be time to think about more than 4GB.

For something as sensitive as VRM, you generally want to look for frame time data, as FPS has a way of obfuscating those kinds of dips.

But at that point the game's gonna run like shit anyway. :lol

Oh really? Good to know.

Texture swapping stutter won't effect the average much.

I don't know how much I can hold out with my 580 GTX when Project Cars, Witcher 3, and Mordor are just around the corner.

Hopefully I can get the 980 for about 600 CAD, then I'll jump in.

That is better than my integrated intel 4600 :P
I just built a PC and waiting for the 970 to come out lol

I see DX12 support on the packaging but the real question is are we talking about complete DX12 support ?

Are all the DX12 features locked in yet? It will probably support most of the stuff and if there is something that requires some hardware change then that won't work on these and older cards that also support DX12.

Almost time!

Been waiting for about 3 months now to upgrade from my 670.

Plan is to get 2 980's, that should last me a good while.

I'll be working overnight going into Friday so hopefully they aren't available for purchase until 6:00am+.

So I guess that $519 price was photoshopped? (or is that going to be the AUS price maybe?)

That said. Looking at the specs. What on earth would justify the $200 price difference between the 970 and 980?

Man I'm starting to hate Nvidia, I hope the price isn't 550 for the 980, seriously, the 780 equivalent, the r9 290 is $370 on Amazon, I wouldn't spend more than $300 for the 970 or $450 for the 980..

I should list it now if I intend to upgrade then, I suppose... what do you think mkenyon? 2560x1440, sell and buy a 970/980?
Probably too late to be able to offload it at pre-980 prices, with NDA a day away.

I never ever ever ever ever ever offer advice like that without reviews and data. And unfortunately NVIDIA doesn't recognize PC-GAF as a legitimate review source, so neither Haz nor I have access to hardware. :P

780 equivalent won't be out till the next series, this is a successor to the 680/670/770/760.
