Nvidia GTX 980/970 3DMark Scores Leaked- from Videocardz.com

Well, my Matrox G400 was great :P
Dual Head baby!

I told myself the same thing for over a decade, even after moving on a long time ago to other computers. You will eventually admit to yourself that buying a Matrox card was a horrible mistake and straight up masochistic. The only thing you can say about yourself is that you are in rare company.

Matrox never die though! The chart proves it. They couldn't kill ATI and Nvidia, but they killed Creative Lab's 3d card division. I will believe this until I stop drawing breath.

No, seriously, there was nothing wrong with the G400. Competitive 3D performance, especially at 32 bits, and EMBM! And that unmatched VGA analog IQ!

Are you being serious, serious? Because I am tempted to build a system and install some games from the time to see what that card can do. I actually had 2 Matrox cards between 95 to 99(they were affordable folks so come at me bros if you want to challenge me). Both the cards I had were not good, especially OGL which was straight up terrible. There's still some Matrox fan child in me since it was my first 3d card and was a card that was there when 3d cards became a thing in the consumer market.

Matrox never die!

How long to nonref coolers usually take to show up if they are there at launch?

Windforce is my scene

Planning to upgrade from a 7870XT, will probably get the 970 if around ~300USD and has a really good performance (good overclocking potential is a nice extra).

No, but I'd advise going for one of the aftermarket coolers as they should be extremely quiet.
Okay, thanks. I'm aiming for 1080/60
for now
, so I just don't want any overheating issues. But because this will be my first GPU, I have no idea wtf I am doing. haha

The 970 will have roughly the power of a 780 and it might only be $329-$349? That sounds almost too good to be true, but It'll be darn awesome if that price is correct! I'm actually kinda happy now that I had to hold off on getting a GTX 760 a few months ago. I'm really looking forward to hearing some good news from Nvidia's event tomorrow.

Lots of random info leaks, folks in the industry have been saying the NDA/announcement happens when the GAME 24 event go live.

Given the mass number of actual product pictures, it's looking like a hard release, and not a paper launch. So, they'll probably be for sale when NDA goes up.

I hope this is true. I am desperately awaiting these to finish my new PC!

Me too! Does anyone know of a good place (other than this thread) to keep an eye on for pre-orders popping up?

Probably checking this thread as well as some of the sites that have been sourced - and the Nvidia event tomorrow at 6pm pacific if you're able to watch. It sounds like the NDA will be dropping right around the start of it.

Any reason to suspect these will come with free games? Don't think I saw anything on those boxes.

I highly doubt it at launch. NVIDIA/AMD generally do free games if there is stiff competition from new cards(so AMD could have a free game promo soon) or at the mid/end of a CPU cycle.

Hope I am wrong though, would love to see a Boarderlands/Ass Creed or COD pack in with the 980's at least.

Don't think I'll ever xFire my 290s so...

FS: ASUS R9 290 $230 shipped reference. >1yr on warranty.
FS: GB WindForce 670 $190 shipped. 8 months on warranty

Actually the rumour is availability this friday.

And we've seen pictures of boxes with prices on in retailer back rooms. That confirms the hard launch. I will be ready anyways.

It's my ROG Swift that I have on back order that needs to ship already... Cause until I have that, a few 980s are going to be totally bottle necked by my current 1080p / 60 fps display.

I am missing something? Why are people talking about a 10% faster 780Ti? The 980 has 2048 cuda cores? Even at 1200Mhz it should be slower?

They're "Maxwell" cores which will perform differently than "Kepler" cores that the 780 ti has. Just like the 580 "Fermi" had a very low core count compared to the 680 "Kepler" (512 vs 1536) and yet the 680 was nowhere near 3 times as fast.

Is there a way to pay with part Paypal Credit and part debit card or Paypal? as in use some money I have and apply some to Paypal credit? Not sure if I'm going to get this day one, but I need to know if it's a possibility.

Any money you have in your PayPal account is automatically selected when making a payment, with your backup funding source making up the difference. The only caveat is that the money in your PayPal account must match the currency of the order; if it doesn't, you'll have to first convert your balance, and PayPal's currency conversion isn't exactly the most favourable.
