PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

baekshi was just blunt and straight to the point.

not everything needs to be sugarcoated

ditto this. as much as I dislike it - baekshi just tempers the expectations (and I do think he loves the platform but all the talk on it being indie/remote-play machine while being saying j-games are just crap/anime/moe - think it gets people, no?)

and don't fault him - there's a long tradition/history of at least one member playing such a role.

his predecessor was Totobeni.. lol. you haven't seen toto :P
to rephrase Takao, I think some may say that baekshi is a ray of sunshine compared to Totobeni

I get the term vitagaf but this thread is playstationgaf we have to learn and get along.

that's what every needs to do - and not directed at you, getting along means you can dislike a game, but don't hate on the gamer.

Yeah, he comes off that way to me too. And its sometimes nice to see people get so riled up by his posts (me sometimes included).

Ultimately this is the PSN thread so everyone should get along maybe? Vita, PS3, PS4 fans or otherwise.

Maybe I've closed out my memories of Totobeni but all I remember of him was his .gif posts of his avatar. Mhmm yum yum.

I dunno. All I keep hearing when I see his name is "Vita is dead" in different variations.
I think he's just frustrated with the direction Sony is taking the Vita. He's a huge fan of Gravity Rush and Soul Sacrifice Delta, and with the way they've been handled, there's not much to be positive about. He's also a bit tsuntsun.

Honestly, he never bothered me much and I quite liked his bluntness and what he added to the thread, but I am also not at all surprised to see people glad that he is gone, especially newer people to the thread. But you are right in that there will be always someone on the negative side of the argument, and that it is a necessary position, though it often comes across as hostile.

Chilly, don't hate me, but I'm starting to enjoy SAO.

It grows on you, it really does.

Am I the only one who thinks Sony is weird by letting O become the confirm button on a couple of japanese Vita games released in the West? They're the ones who should be demanding games to have the same form of control, now I'm taking a long time to adapt.

If they let that translation through I wouldn't be surprised by anything

Well, then to be blunt, people just didn't like his posts.

You can't accept something without accepting the consequences.

Not defending his style of posting or anything, but you can't blame him about his style of posting

Some of us invested heavily into this handheld - and some of us feel that we just got tossed aside. And while I can't fault Sony for continuing on in the arms race against the likes of Nintendo and iOS/Android devices, it's a damn shame to see Sony just toss it aside. And for the people who have invested in 1K or more on this thing, it sucks. Some of us just wishes Sony did a SEGA and just blow out their load with the Vita just like what they did with the Dreamcast. Even they knew they were gonna lose to the likes of the PS2s and GameCubes of the world, they still went guns blazing.

He was just very vocal about that, he just wanted to see the handheld to be pushed to it's full potential. Indies are fine and all, but we just want to see something more from Sony themselves.

I'll do it if you do it.

Do it. I thoroughly enjoyed it but was also happy to get it for $12 with PS+ discount instead of $15 it would have been. The launch PS+ discounted price was a pretty optimal price point for me given what I got out of it. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and such.

I love both Totobeni and Baekshi. Their criticisms were always backed up and never just being negative to be negative, Toto was way vocally harsher than Baekshi, as Baekshi is just blunt, but that's no different than others being overly positive.

Yeah I can't agree with that. The amount of hyperbole is why I ignore Baekshi's posts now.

If you buy murasaki baby please post impressions in daydreaming OT!

I've been going back and forth on this. I'm hearing its short and i'm not hearing alot of OMG this is great but more "its good" i have Neptunia on the way and I guess i'm just not big on dropping anything more then $5 on something i will beat in a night and never play again. I've never played Minecraft yet so i'm kind of feeling im better off holding any more purchases till that.

Sony is winding down their first party operation full stop. They've had major layoffs in "untouchable" studios like SSM and Sucker Punch; Naughty Dog is no longer a 2-team operation and personally I don't expect Evolution to still exist a year from now.

I liked their first party output on Vita, in fact that early launch line-up was one of my favorites of any new console and leaps better than their pathethic showing on PS4. But that was that, it failed on all counts and they won't sink more money on it. They already "went out with a bang", it's just that there are still viable and great games coming out after that failure, unlike the Dreamcast which was discontinued full on.

Being overly negative tends to be much more easily rejected by people for obvious reasons.

Generally, no. For Japanese games English script options are usually only included in international version re-releases, which in turn only exist because the game will have already been released in the English speaking market.

Thank you for this. I kept hearing 'import friendly' here and there with no specific games attached, so now I know I can stop feeling like I'm missing something. Thank you.

I think you're giving him far too much credit. The issue is that he was obsessively negative. I respect blunt people who are fair minded, but if someone wants to hide behind 'bluntness' to constantly tear down the thing their community loves, it crosses the line for me.

He clearly bothered a lot of people here. At some point his 'bluntness' crossed the line from constructive to destructive, imo. I know I disliked reading his posts -- life's too short to have such a negative voice in your favorite community.

some recent posts:
"can't wait for bloodborne disappointments ."
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=130202936&postcount=4259

talking about minecraft:
"No one would notice and care even if vita version got cancelled "
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=130192052&postcount=4223

That's not bluntness. That's not constructive. That is raw negativity that will clearly bother some of the community.

toto and baek are actually great people outside of gaf.

Maybe, but people don't have to like what they do here.

This is a forum, people post their opinions. Toto and baek can absolutely do that. People just won't like it, and people didn't and that's that.

Anyone able to add anything to their cart on PS3? It's giving me an error from the store front and through the website.

If you buy murasaki baby please post impressions in daydreaming OT!

As a sidenote, I'm really glad that game turned out well. I did the OT on such a short notice, and I only do OTs for stuff I can 100% stand behind, so I'm glad it worked out, haha.

But yeah, impressions in the thread are very much appreciated. Not for my sake, obviously, but for the game's. As part of IndieGAF I'm well aware that these kinds of games *rely* on constant pushing from the vocal minority that plays them, so every recommendation, every bump helps. VitaGAF is no stranger to that phenomenon, I reckon, so feel free go ahead and do your worst! :)

So I just noticed that Thief, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition and Murdered Soul Suspect are $17.99 for PS+ users and $19.99 without on PS4.

Is $19.99 a permanent price drop for both or is it a sale price?

Definitely gonna get Tomb Raider at that price, what do you guys think about Murdered? Worth it for $17.99?

$19.99 is the sale price for those without PS+, I believe. The storefront should really display the original price as well. A bit confusing. I've seen plenty of people think they're only knocking a few dollars off the price, when it's actually just the additional savings for PS+ users.

Digital only. (naturally, still an F2P game).

http://gamestalk.net/god-etaer/

Also, God Eater getting a ufotable finally.

ufotable was finally released from the evil, dirty, nasty hands of Type Moon.
I'd watch a God Etaer anime.
Anime or just a couple of animated scenes for the game? Because Bandai Namco has already done work with ufotable several times with the Tales of games.
TV anime and pachislots. Also Soul Sacrifice Delta collab with the Marduk monster, costumes, and a gun.

I keep the same opinion I had for months that if you want to sell a game in Japan, release it for the Vita along with an anime. I said several times that if Sony did an anime for Oreshika 2, it'd have done better.

You guys should have seen Takao before and after the Vita launch.
I think he would have made them look like angels
:P

Anyways Agito stuff was pretty much depressing.
