Nvidia GTX 980/970 3DMark Scores Leaked- from Videocardz.com

VR SLI gets me wet. I was worried I'd be stuck at single card performance with the 980 (and it's successors). Now I feel a lot better about SLIing this card.

It's especially great because it means someone like me can get one card now, and another when the prices are a bit lower around the time Rift CV1 finally releases. I don't really need more than a GTX970 for my current 1080p setup, but they might get me to buy another just to get the best VR experience.

I think we'll see the GPU market become very interesting once VR really takes off; PC's finally need to greatly outperform current gen consoles again.

Holy shit Nvidia Hairworks tech in Farcry 4.. did not expect!
Looks like the game will look an order of magnitude better on PC.

I just ejaculated.

Is Tessellation in Assassin's Creed Unity exclusive to PC version?

Sure sounds like it

It is. Otherwise it would not be "PC render features".
It's not the first time consoles can't keep up with PC with regards to tessellation.

So we have as PC exclusive improvements over the PS4 :
-HBAO+
-TXAA
-PCSS
-Tessellation

Well, the DF Face Off will be glorious.

I have to say that shot of the shadows contouring to the cobblestone road really impressed me.

Don't they usually compare the PC versions to console versions on "console-like" settings?

They use the same resolution but PC versions are usually maxed out.
And that's fair since the goal of those Face Offs is to gauge the visual disparities between the different skus, therefore they use a high-end PC to make use of all those features.

I'm impressed as well. It looks really great.
Gonna be expensive obviously but high-end hardware exists for a reason.

I wonder where do the PS4 version stack up. My guess is that it will look rather plain in comparison.
Do you guys remember the times where newly released consoles could hold a candle to high-end PCs in multiplatform games ? Ah, those were the days.

We haven't seen tessellation severely toned down or out-right removed from console ports so probably.

True. Tomb Raider DE does not feature tessellation of any kind and this is very jarring. Same goes for other multiplats.

By the way my dear Phil, would you kindly make a new thread to let tech savy people know about those enhancements ? Of course this won't be a good news for console warriors, we will have to ignore the noise.

all Ubi recent games were heavy on Nvidia Gameworks stuff.

And thank God for that. Without Gameworks Ubi would have never gone the extra mile given that those improvements are beyond what consoles can handle as evidenced by the fact that they're not present in any console sku.

Having bought a 280x for cheap recently I'm quite ok with that. Next gen just started and it'll will take the devs another couple of years to get the most of their consoles. That's when I'll consider buying a 500+ card. Until then I'm rocking my 280x and a possible upgrade in between.

Getting excited for this. Anyone can add me on Steam if they want to since I'm new. My name is the same as the one here. What are some other good steam games to look out for?

The Swapper is a really great indie platformer/puzzle game with an interesting story.

It's usually a couple of bucks during a sale, but I don't think it's more than $10 full price.

this really isn't the thread for this.

Can anyone tell me when the nvidia thing starts? As in how many hours from now, which is a neutral way to say it that everyone can understand, rather than gibberish timezone names.

I was just answering a question. DF's Face Off aren't all that interesting from a purely scientific POV nowadays.
They're very entertaining in the sense that they highlight the incredible cognitive dissonance among a portion of the console audience : the differences between the PS4/XBO versions are considered dramatic while the objectively far bigger ones between those consoles skus and the maxed out PC version are downplayed. I'm willing to bet there will be far fewer differences between the XBO and PS4 builds of Unity than between the PS4 and maxed out PC version with all the aforementioned improvements (tessellation, HBAO+, PCSS).

It's 3AM CET I think.

Thanks I'll look into this.

Also, mkenyon, what was that shooter that you told me about in PC thread? You were in a closed beta for it not so long a go.

Hope VR SLI works well. Although having a motherboard and case that can only take one GPU is a limitation. Maybe they can do a dual GPU card

You're welcome. ;)

OMFG YES!!!!! Thank Nvidia for making the PC version superior to its console counterparts like it should be.
Thanks Ubisoft for having striken a deal with Nvidia once again. AC4 was also undisputably superior on PC (Physx, PCSS, HBAO+, Better god rays) and Unity/FC4 will follow suit.

Feels good to be a PC gamer. :)
