There are already OC 970s available. OC 980s are coming in October.
Thanks.

Where can I check performance of the the 970 compared to the 670? Too bad the prices in Aus are so high, I really want an upgrade for the Witcher 3.
AUD$752 for two EVGA 970s from Amazon. Not bad.
Are you going to bite on it then or wait till the Winter Sale?
Hey, I've got an i7 3770k. That won't bottleneck the 970 will it? A similar question in this thread has me wondering. Im kind of out of the loop on that kind of thing.
Just switched my order to ASUS, I want the cards before the weekend and I like the STRIX concept. Will pick them up now.
lol no. OC that thing though in case you didn't.
UK prices are so shit. Decent cards like the atrix are £300 which is almost $500..

I was looking at R9 290 for a while now and thinking about the Nvidia features I would be missing.
Not anymore with 970.

Yes, all nvidia dx11 cards support dx12, just like all their dx9 cards supported dx11..
AUD$752 for two EVGA 970s from Amazon. Not bad: buying the very same cards from PCCG would cost a grand all up.
Sales tax is usually only around 8% in the States, so not quite as close as you're thinking, although its true people often forget about that when comparing prices.Scan have a custom EVGA card up for preorder for £263. Once you add on the 20% VAT to the US prices, we're being charged less than £10 more than in the States. Hardly highway robbery.
I'm over the moon with these prices.

Alright, went ahead and ordered/reserved a factory overclocked EVGA GTX 980 at NCIX (interestingly enough, it's overclocked higher than the upcoming Gigabyte G1, in spite of using the reference blower), and will hopefully be picking it up tomorrow at their warehouse here in BC.
A stock 3770K is totally fine. If you're able to overlclock it even better. It will be a while until that chip becomes a serious bottleneck of any sort.
Also, SLI 970's have to be one of the best high-end options available in a long time. That's incredible performance for less than $700. Makes TitanZ and 295x2 look plain silly by comparison.
Wait, you are allowed to buy GPU's from Amazon? I didn't think they shipped Electronics to AUS.
I guess as long as if/when you RMA it just goes back the Manufacturer and you don't have to go through Amazon, then it's fine. Because that's waay better then buying here, as you said, stores here are looking about $450-500 for a single reference 970, it's a joke, so $750 for two is delicious.
Partially, but it doesn't change the fact that new features introduced in DX12 will not be supported on old hardware. Are you being sarcastic?
Wasn't going to upgrade my 670 for another year but I don't know now. 970 is more powerful but uses less electricity. I'll have to see price before deiciding though.
Why are the new cards 900 series and not 800? Weren't last years models the 700 series?

DX11 had different paths for hardware with shader model 3, 4 and 5.
DX12 should be similar.
What are Nvidia reference coolers like these days, nice and quiet like the GTX 260, or grindy like the 670 ?
Where are you guys ordering these cards from? Don't see them on sites I know. I'm probably going to get one of these next week, and I'll probably go with at least the 970, but I'm tempted to get the 980.
Edit: By the way, I'm only currently running a 500w PSU, and I figure I'll probably need an upgrade for whichever one of these I get. Could anyone recommend me some PSUs depending on which card I went with?
