There needs to be something between Normal and Hard. The former is a cake walk, the latter has enemies buffed with health to absurd degrees. I spent three nights trying to beat the first Vex encounter on Hard (solo), and got to the last few enemies last night when a network error booted me to orbit. I played it on normal this morning and basically walked around destroying guys without any danger.

This opened up the patrol, but we can't pick a difficulty there, just normal. Why? I want to free roam on hard mode. :\

The Difficulty settings aren't "Normal" and "Hard" really. The difficulty settings are based on level. The "Normal" & "Hard" are descriptors. For example, I'm level 26, I have three hard options available: 22, 24 and 26.

It is disappointing that Patrols don't have higher tiers, but they do scale your weapons & enemy HP to be somewhat reasonable. My 242 attack hand-cannon crits for 400 damage on a level 2 dreg & 1000 damage on a level 24 dreg. They both give the same about of XP. It hasn't bothered me as much as I feared it would.

I think Bungie's highest priority was a social "open world" game.

So campaign missions went from 1 hour down to 15-20 minutes. Cutscenes were kept to a minimum. The story wasn't about one man saving the universe, but a random dead guy amongst thousands of others. Flying vehicles were axed. Vehicle stages were axed. Instead of environments crafted to a single level's needs, you get open world areas that will be run through multiple times.

That one decision changed *everything*.

Uhhhh. the 3 waves?

Whenever you are overwhelmed just run in a circle and let your health go up. Make sure you kill every Thrall > Knight > Warlock in that order. It's long, but not hard. Just make sure you run away and shoot from the other side. In the final wave when you fight 3/4 Warlocks, focus on the ones with less energy or use Special if you have one that is safe to use.
 
This Weekly Heroic Strike on the Moon is goddamn difficult.
The last 3-4 Wizards before the Ghost opens the locked door just pound the shit outta you relentlessly. Failed x2, even with a decent kill time and 50% precision accuracy.
Pointers?

Wizards only appear if you use the initial room before the boss starts as a choke point.

Yeah, it's faaaaaar safer going out there full of enemies, then staying in that room.

edi: Ah wait wrong place, strafe the shit out of the wizards while taking out the knights first, those fuckers one shot you if they melee you.

Started getting a lot of centipede errors the past few days.. Xbox set on the DMZ, NAT open.. I have no idea what's wrong. :(
 
Buddy was over to hang out and play games. Fired up the second dualshock controller and Destiny. Realized there's no splitscreen multiplayer.

Bungie y u do dis.
 
... I found two legendarys in the first 5 minutes of playing, then running past a close by area where someone else did the kills I found a third one, lol.
 
Are chests static? Like if I find a chest is that designed to be there and once I take it it's gone for good? Or are they randomized. I've only seen 4 or 5 chests and I'm level 24.

Also what are golden chests? On earth it says I have 2 out of 5 collected but I don't remember seeing a golden chest or getting any good items from a chest

It's not a bad assumption.

In the pax panel Jason Jones had a vision for the game that was just, imagine running into other players in an area that are doing something else. And the entire game was built around that.

That was the focus of the game. They could have made a better campaign and maybe more variety, but I think they were always gonna be stuck in the framework of these levels have to be big, open, and fit multiple roles.

Golden Chests are static and one-off per character, there are five of them on each planet.

Normal chests are not, they randomly spawn in a variety of set locations.
 
I'm doing the exotic weapon bounty for the hand cannon and have completed the first few requirements but the last one is killing me lol., It's a special lv. 26 strike on the moon and is hard as hell. I have no idea how i'm going to defeat it lol.

Oh, you're right. I worded that too strongly. I'm not assuming that the decision was made and they said that we have to do all this explicitly because of it. But I think that decision had an impact on all of those changes.

I will when I get a good one. My current pulse rifle has "radar persists on ads" and my scout makes people explode when I headshot kill them (not unlocked that perk yet, but I'm getting enough HS kills to know it will cause a lot of rage when I do). Both guns are really good for pvp, not found a HC that trumps them yet.

Definitely not.

Think about it: If you did this the players who you get to stomp on would play less and people would quit more halfway.

Also the rich would just get richer, and the power gap would widen.

Rewarding everyone with equal chance keeps things much more fair.
 
Another observation on patrolling Mars: There's a spot in the Buried City where a yellow minotaur and yellow harpy will reliably spawn. Seems like a good place for farming, no?

I agree with that, but I do think that what you're looking for – or rather, the things you mentioned – can be done even though Bungie's design goals aren't strictly single-player. I mean, there are darkness zones for a reason.

They will randomly appear in the same places. Here's a good video demonstrating how you can farm them.
