What sucks is that Fracture could've been good. LucasArts and Day 1 Studios have this awesome idea of modifying the terrain to advance through the game, but they never capitalize on it. Creating cover on the fly was neat the few times I needed to use it but the fact that the terrain deformation is so limited means there's nothing to make this title stand out. The vortex grenades are cool and the multiplayer is fun, but the overall lack of polish, originality, and characterization hold this title back from being something you need to spend $60 on.
Fracture isn't a train wreck or anything; it's just generic and forgettable.

The initial load is a bit long, but there are no real load screens after that. Still, the cutscenes are compressed wrong, the game freezes/stutters while saving, and the framerate can dip.
7.0 Graphics
The cinemas look bad -- jaggy, lifeless faces -- but the game itself is all right. Jet's suit looks good, but each act's environments will look the same after time.
5.5 Sound
The groans and battle cries of the Pacificans are laughable, and the music is bargain basement John Williams that doesn't quite match the on-screen action. The voiceovers aren't bad.
6.0 Gameplay
It's your standard "run here, kill this" setup with the Entrencher's terrain deformation tossed in. Sometimes the earth changing is fun, but most of the time it's just there.
5.5 Lasting Appeal
The story's in the eight-hour neighborhood but doesnt offer much for replay. The weapons testing feature is kind of just there. Online's fun, but you could probably experience it with a rental.

Mediocre OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)
I dunno, I suspected as much that this is how the game will be inevitably received. I still do appreciate the ideas in it though and I think it will find an audience just like Timeshift did last year...
