MGSV: Wolf/Dog Confirmed As New Buddy. Named "DD"

I mean, it's crazy to think that all the cutscenes we've seen of quiet are all optional; I used to think she was a major plot point. Kojima, you are a magnificent bastard and I cannot wait to play the game of the forever.

So Quiet can be replaced by a dog? Kojima thinks women and dogs are on the same level? I am offended.

Not sure if you're joking but you can choose several 'buddies' to assist you on missions, Quiet and DD are just two of these 'buddies'

Neither character replaces the other and both are optional.

So women aren't important and are merely optional? I'm even more offended.

And one of these buddies should be an actual snake. Snake Squared this shit writes itself.

Haha awesome, please give him a beret.

I wonder how he'll compare to Quiet in battle, i mean she was pretty overpowered from what we've seen.

Also, i hope there are more companions to see.

the animation of the dog is incredible good, very lifelike :)
I think today's games biggest problem is the animation not the graphics, the graphics is good since years...but the poor animation can ruin games but this dog animation is very good
KojiPro cutscene animation is as good as it gets. Industry top-tier.

But their gameplay animations are still a mixed bag. Sometimes superb, other times stiff and weightless. Definitely a huge improvement over MGS4, but I can see room for improvement.

So many optional things. I didn't like the way Peace Walker handled side ops, but ground zeroes does it a lot better. And the mother base thing! And rumors of MGO! Just 2 more weeks until smash bros; that should tide me over to MGS5.

The only "bad" animations are still the jumping animations. Nobody jumps off a ledge like that. Other than that everthing looks aces, very lifelike.

Tsuchinoko buddy please.

Let's stop spreading this until we get solid confirmation or at least another source.
Don't we have HIDEO source?

I tried starting a MGS4 replay. The animations are indeed really stiff, and the gameplay works in such different way than MGS5 does. Its hard going back to 4.

The scene of him as a puppy added a lot to the wolf for me, jesus christ. Having big boss's soldiers killed might have affected him, but i bet that this wolf's death, if it happens (please no), will be the thing that drives big boss crazy and i will support big boss in his descent to evil if someone hurts DD;

Also, do you think that the sheep that you fulton will be used as food for the dog? because those sheeps are cool too =(

Wait a second, if the wolf is optional, his death can't be integral part of the main plot. So maybe they don't kill him.

No, but this being Metal Gear, I'm sure it's possible to kill him yourself when he's a pup...

Besides, if you don't rescue him he'd probably die anyway.

meh, i don't believe the optional bullcrap. they'll find a way to fit all the "optional" things into the story.

I believe it, it seems quite hard to trigger the encounter with DD, and even if you do, you can still ignore him if you want.

Well, i don't know how the structure of this game's narrative will be, if they said that you can miss DD and quiet, which up until this point seemed a big character in the story, maybe some chunks of the narrative could be missed entirely depending on your play style

For some reason I'm already more invested in that damn dog than any of the human recruits.

Hopefully DD will train them to become attack sheep. All my animal bros need to work together.

I'm expecting him to be just as optional as Yuffie and Vincent in FF7.

As someone who hasn't really enjoyed an MGS game all that much outside of the original, everything about the Phantom Pain looks absolutely delightful. I can't wait to learn the heart wrenching and/or zany story behind the loss of your wolf compatriot's eye.

His eye was missing when Boss first found him in the game.

This is the stupidest, most awesome thing. This game, man. I'm half expecting to be able to play fetch with it using magazines.

Man, I think I'd be disappointed if that didn't happen now.
