I didn't fight him more than once. He drops an item you can give to the Cryptarch, who will give you a strange coin.

Perhaps folks can fight him at higher difficulties to see if the item drops still. All I know is I got a strange coin, which was just enough for me to get my exotic rocket launcher.

How do you know if you've been awarded an exotic in the crucible? I didn't see it happen but I suddenly have an exotic sniper rifle with me (the one that gives invisibility when looking down the scope).

At the same time I got it, I leveled up my Cryptarch, got a Legendary Engram from him and got a Legendary Sniper from that.

I hate it. After using a high impact legendary hand cannon and one shotting most enemies, I can't get used to the low damage per bullet on the juju. To make things worse, the magazine is puny with only 15 bullets or 5 bursts. I'm hoping it'll become better when the quick reload kicks in.

Has anyone here completely the raid? I have not been around to follow. I just did a level 20 strike yesterday with one friend and one random and the random rage quit, screwing us quite a bit.

Yup. I finished it two nights ago. I can't think of a more challenging thing in a video game that I have done, very satisfying to beat

green should give green with a chance of blue
blue should give blue with a chance of purple
purple should give purple with a chance of gold
gold should always give gold
decoherent engrams should be the only ones allowed to give you materials or something for a different class

this way you always know what you're getting - even if it's not as good as what you have - but you can also still be surprised. The current system is inconsistent, annoying and most importantly unrewarding. the only reason i can think of for them to set it up this way is to mask the fact that there isn't that much gear or weapons in the game, thus making it harder to get what isn't in the shops. when they pretty much all look the same anyway, i don't see why it matters

Yes it is. You do the mission if you haven't done it before, you're guaranteed to get an item that you can exchange for a strange coin.
