Thanks Hawkian for the response. Any opinion from you on how someone should spend their mote of lights? Get class items from the Speaker or try my luck with engrams?

I'd look at it this way:

1) how close are you to a legendary chest piece?
2) does the Speaker have the exact cosmetic item you want at the moment?
3) do you plan to play other classes one day?


The speaker is kind of a jerk and changes stock just once a week, so if something you want is there right now, it could be gone next week until who knows when (grumble grumble bring the fucking cloudwalker cloak back damn you). So if something you want is there right now and you have the motes, buy it and buy it hard.

Meanwhile you might not get a usable chest piece from Xur. However, if you're a ways off from being able to afford a chest piece anyway (say you just spent all your marks on gloves/boots or still have a ways to go in Rank for your chosen vendor), and ESPECIALLY if you wouldn't mind getting a chest piece for another class to one day use, then it's not a bad investment.

All armor in one faction has Intellect+Discipline bonus, second faction has Discipline+Strength and third has Intellect+Strength.

I can't remember which is which, but go have a look and choose the faction with the bonuses that suit your playstyle best.

Thank you, I read that Intellect + Discipline is good if I'm leaning toward sunsinger so that would be "Future War cult".

Would you know about the grenade? Fusion, Solar or firebolt?

Afaik, each thing levels up from top to bottom/ left to right, so you have to level up everything to the left of it on the same line first.

I have a question. I mostly play PvE stuff but after yesterday I might spend more time in the Crucible. So far I've maxed out my Vanguard marks fairly early the last two weeks, and figured I'd spend the other time messing around in PvP for kicks. Would it be better if I just joined a faction even if I'm primarily a PvE player? Or should I continue to max vanguard and slowly add to crucible marks and be able to buy from both?

Halfway through the video, and for anyone interested, I completely endorse this approach. I would barely even consider this farming. This is more like "play the hell out of the game on earth with a split 3-man team, and abandon any beacon mission you can't quickly complete." It leverages the fact that any player in a fireteam can complete a beacon for the whole party.

Great for rep, mats, chests, marks from public events, any random engram drops from mobs. If you eat up a Fallen (or whatever race depending on where you choose to do this) kill consumable (which the video doesn't mention), you can also get plenty of Glimmer from this too.

I'll probably be doing stuff like this to level up my Faction Rank and looking for people to join me
