Just finished the Angry Joe video. It's funny, I don't think I've ever seen a game that the majority of people admit has this many glaring problems, but those same people are still hooked on it like crack and will still have a ton of fun with it. I was almost not expecting Angry Joe to say he still liked it at the end, lol.

He get's a few things wrong, but other than that I basically agree with everything he said

edit - wtf he removed it?

I wonder if he removed it because of the part where he screams assumptions regarding the queen "arch" setting it up for paid dlc, when it's seemingly coming free this week.

The game is like a hazy fantasy that has come into real life.
So yeah its more like LSD.

The Cave is real. 4 and a half hours on it today with two friends and a couple randoms and I got:

5 Legendary drops. Turned into a hand cannon, shotgun, machine gun, gauntlets and a cloak.

22 rare. a whole plethora of stuff, dismantled a lot of it but kept a good sniper rifle, and some other back up guns.

75ish greens. All dismantled. I have 245 weapon parts and about 200 wires.

Cryptarch is 1000 away from level 10.

I am shutting down the ps4 after a looooong 10 hour day of Destiny. I got more loot from the cave than I did the entire game up to this point, being a level 23. Going back first thing in the morning. Bungie is sure to patch this so I recommend getting in while you can.

Oh yea, a few of the blues were coins after decrypting so I bought exotic chest armor.

EDIT: Oh, and an event takes place every 30 minutes right at the cave so you get Vanguard, too. Plus, your Gilmore cards fill up FAST. Using consumables can also beef up glimmer from all the guys in the cave. I scored SO BIG today. Extremely excited.

is this the one in Earth? what gun should i use?? i only have auto rifles. lol

Got to the last boss of the raid today. I'll be so glad to defeat this and get it out the way. I'm having fun of course, but it can get frustrating lol. My group will be back at it tomorrow and I hope to win.

On another note, I haven't got any weapon/armor drops at all from Vault, all ascendant stuff. Some others in my group have got a couple exotics though. Maybe when we finish, I'll get lucky with something. I might wake early Sunday and do a little cave farming, it's boring but guess I'll give it another go.

All joking and venting aside. What do we think the likelihood of Bungie adjusting loot drops and fundamentally altering the drops vs. rep-grind game systems is?

I'd rather have a Borderlands/Diablo-esque system that made playing the PVE a little more of a loot feedback loop affair.

I understand how the current system works. I just don't like it.

But, given the vast majority of players seeming to agree with me (anecdotally, but there are 16,000+ players tweeting this to me on the regular), will Bungie budge?

The solid combat and crack-nature of the game keep you coming back, it's the lack of content and extremely lackluster RNG/campaign that brings it down. I feel that if this game had enough variety in the campaign or weapons/armors the game would average closer to an 8/10.

So much negativity comes from the disappointment of people who were genuinely excited for the game. Myself included. Heck, there are people who frequented the community heavily near the release of the game that are now practically gone and are ready to move on to the next big thing.

So here are my results from tonight's cave farming expedition.

Any gun you want. You get drops even when not shooting. As long as others are taking them down you will score. It is the one in Skywatch on Earth. Easies farm I have done in the game. No need to die and respawn, no long stretches to run, you just stand there and fire.

Bungie generally doesn't change things unless they're being exploited. They'll patch the cave long before they tweak the loot system.

Can someone explain to me this cave farming? The only farming I ever do is for materials :(

There is a cave in Skywatch on earth. About 8 enemies respawn in it. There are really the only enemies that bother you. You stand down from the cave and fire into it as soon as you see the names appear. They never even make it out alive. They respawn in about 5 seconds. After everyone is low on ammo and you see 5 greens, 3 blues and maybe a purple in the cave, everyone runs and collects. Run back to standing spot and rinse and repeat. The drop rate is fricking crazy. I had at least two greens on every run to collect. Every 30 minutes an event occurs which gives vanguard. Also, you can switch between all your weapons and level them all up. Also, gilmore cards get full FAST since you are killing so many enemies.

Well, I'm being a good soldier and conforming to the "right way" to play, but after leveling to 26+ and completing the raid, the current systems are probably enough to keep me from coming back for a long while. Unless the DLC is UH-MAZING.

I could NEVER do farming for four and a half hours, get 4 legendaries and be happy with it. That's 4 hours of my free time spent doing a monotonous task and getting little reward for it. It sounds masochistic and the fact that culture has spread to this level is an issue. The RNG system needs to be fixed. Farming will always be an issue, but somebody willing to do it for that long? Jesus.

Anyone level 27 or higher and willing to help me get kills in the weekly Nightfall strike (on PS4)? Trying to finish this Exotic bounty tonight. Message me on PSN if you can help

What determines legendary engrim drops? My buddy and I farmed outside the cave and he got six in about two hours and I got none. I am lvl 21 and he is 25 if that even matters.

I definitely think level plays a part in it. I didn't get a legendary engram until today and I'm level 24. It seems like the level of rares have a higher chance of being a higher level as you get higher level rares. Eg. I had a level 17 helmet, then got a level 18, then level 19 and now level 20. My guess is they don't want you to be able to level too quickly.

Well, technically you could just leave your character there while some randoms do all the work for you.

I've almost reached 28, and I still haven't had a chance to take part in the raid yet. :<

i just do it while i'm doing other things, watching a show and things. i sometimes don't even hold the controller, sometimes the people shooting around me create drops for me to pick up.

I didn't just get 4 legendaries. I got a shit ton of blues and greens and filled quite a few gilmore cards. I also did 8 events and got some good vanguard points.

Is that all I do in the game? No. Did lots of runs and missions and a few strikes. But going to the cave is addictive. You see the stuff drop constantly. Talking sports with some frineds and the time flies by. Run back to tower and cash in. Rank up the Crytarch with all the greens and blues and now the mailman is giving you legendary decrypts with each Cryptarch level.

Holy shit! After 4 legendary engrams flipped blue today, I just got a legendary pulse rifle from a blue engram!!

Thank you based cryptarch!

Aw yeah.

RNGesus works in mysterious ways.

So I solo'd the weekly for 3 coins, one shy of my Titan helm. Crap. Then my buddy gets on and wants to do it again for the exotic bounty. Get a few blues. Of course none drop a coin. But they leveled my cryptarch up. 2 more blues. The very last one drops the coin and I get my helmet.

W00t! Level 27.

Time for some sleep. Tomorrow we raid.

one thing that really resonated with me in the angry joe review is the fact that when you hit level 20, you have to keep changing your gear to get any higher. So you'll be satisified with how you look one minute, but then you have to deal with ugly ass zebra print pants because it's a higher level. i don't like that everything is tied to armor. would have been better if level and appearance was customized solely with materials, which would then make them more valuable. i see no reason to upgrade my gear with materials because i'll find better looking ones (or worse) with a higher level eventually.

The final raid boss kicked my group's ass for around 2 hours :/
Yeah that was pretty crazy. Seems like we're on the right track though, I just watched the video from the guide I shared and our strategy seems good. Just have to get all our timing and positoning perfect for the teleports and gates. We'll knock it out tomorrow night though, I'm confident.

It is an extremely common tactic in every (?) loot game out there. CotA runs/etc. in D3, people will always find the most efficient path and abuse it. This will end up getting nerfed, but I'm betting they will not adjust the overall issue.

Remove the mark caps, allow faction gear to be bought with both currencies, increase loot drops from strikes or better loot, etc.

I guess the only other major loot game I played was borderlands and I genuinely was always satisfied with my current equipment, but if something better showed up it was nice. Never farmed either, I might redo missions bit it was to play with friends.

Like I said at this point I'm only playing to play with my friends or with sexy new gaffers, get to know them and shit. The game is just the middle man to socialize with new folks and spend time with my friends who aren't near me.

So lonely yo.

The idea that your gear levels you up seems pretty intuitive in theory but in practice people just juggle shit they don't want just to get their light up. Also with how the scaling works you can't intentionally be lower levelled with gear that compliments each other nicely since you get a nice damage penalty.

If you have played this game for more than ten minutes and still let enemies get out of the cave with more than one player present, stop playing video games.

I just watched a vid where they finished the boss as soon has it enranged. Seems like the best way is have everyone split up and have the relic carrier+ someone else draw agro. Also one of the 3 teleporters should have a damaging super to quickly kill the ads in conjunction with the relic holder.
We'll see I guess.
