So with all the farming techniques like "the loot cave" in Old Russia, has there been any talk about Bugnie potentially nerfing stuff like that? I just got to 20 and will be trying my luck with some of the stuff I've seen, but I'm finding legendary engrams (which are more often than not downgraded to blue items) and other drops such as that are rare enough, hell I've only gotten a couple blues through the entire game, so I'd be kind of annoyed if they made it even harder to gain these items.

It's a part of a quest line that you get from having an Exotic Bounty. Exotic Bounties are given to you at random when you turn in regular bounties.
 
After using the cave for three "without dying" bounties I can't imagine spending a prolonged amount of time farming there. I'm sure that after quite a while you can get a good amount of rare and legendary engrams, but there's really no sense of progression towards a goal.

After hitting 20 I started doing public events and bounties, and by the time my vanguard rep was lvl 1 I already had a rare set of armor and lvl 21, which with some upgrades put me at lvl 22. Today doing some strikes got a new helmet, and leveled up to 23. Furthermore this yielded 100 vanguard marks and almost enough reputation to get to lvl 2, so next week I'll buy my first two legendaries: boots (current ones only have +2 light) and something else.

I can't recommend Hawkian's guide enough. Having bite sized objectives to progression really makes the whole thing much more manageable.
 
So, I've just started another character, Hunter this time. Fuck it!

Not feeling Titan so far, just don't dig the general aesthetics.
 
Got what I think was my first legendary from a purple engram... and it's a fusion rifle. Oh well, at least it's something I can use (but I never will, I don't like fusion rifles). I just want a better scout rifle :(
 
Just did a little farming and it was the most redudundant shit ever. Crota door, 300+ kills, only 2 green items. Are u fucking kidding me?

Very well, tomorrow I will finally have vanguard 2 level and can buy some legendaries.
 
Finally got to level 23. This game is really starting to frustrate me. It's all stick and no carrot. Finally just gave up and spent all my vanguard marks to buy my first legendary armor so I could level up.

All I find are green drops and on the off chance I find a blue it ends up being green more often than not anyway, and it's never an upgrade on my current stuff.

Guess I just need a break. Burnt out on destiny.

I have still yet to get a legendary item from a legendary engram, all of them came from rares.
 
I don't know if it's just me or I'm imagining it, but I've noticed that the more I hoard engrams, the more I get. I have so many blue engrams at the moment.

That's the way you are meant to level up. Lucky drops are just a bonus.

The cave is better. Plus you get Grimoire cards when others earn them too. I've gotten cards for total kills as a Titan and Warlock, I'm a Hunter. And you can get drops without firing a shot waiting for ammo to refill.
 
I feel bad for everyone doing the Thorn quest. Worst exotic weapon in the game.

I feel like the exotic bounty weapons are all semi-terrible, at least seemingly collectively worse than the exotic weapons that do not have a bounty associated with them.

It's stupid considering the amount of effort required to finish those bounties.
 
Not a bad evening so far. Went to moon for bounty, stayed circuiting for chests/helium (was fun figuring out where they might spawn but 188 filaments, lol, had no idea).

Came back with a ship plan and 5 blue engrams, turned in for 2 coins and junk but levelling cryptarch in process, gave a blue and a purple at postmaster. Blue turned into purple scout rifle A.1F19X-RYL and purple gave me the one piece of missing legendary Warlock gear I wanted - helmet (Fatekiller, although only just found my first Manifold Seeker helmet which looked great).

Holding off levelling anything with ascendents for now and whatever anemone-face has next week for Warlock I'll take and work on that.

Here's my Warlock, Thunderdevil shader is the only decent one I've found, others seem garish and clashy:

No, never found anything for my class as Legendary.

Yeah, I get tons of blue now. Good for leveling up the almighty Cryptarch. Might be a level thing?

wow just did the cave thing for about an hour, got a ton of blue engrams, more anywhere else in game in total.

I tried that one too for like 10 minutes and didn't even get a blue engram. Its fucking frustrating.

I think you're going to see a rework of low level mobs and the loot they drop really soon. I don't know if that will translate into high level strikes getting a bump as well, but we all know Bungie didn't intend people to sit at a level 5 cave for 5 hours.

Just levelled up Crypto and he gave me two Purple helmets...got a Legendary!

And now I'm going to be hooked all night trying to get another...It's digital crack.
