Drops in pvp are NOT rewards.

They're just random drops like in pve.

Winning the game is the reward.

Did you need drops to enjoy other pvp games?

I don't get some of you at all...

It's my opinion and nothing more, but I would prefer if the loot in the game was more based around achievement. I think it Destiny's loot system is denigrated by being so random. I would love to point to a piece of armor and say, I won this because I played well. Or even, I won this because I went 15-0 in a game of control.

Right now, I look at my armor, and my weapons, and everyone else's armor and everyone else's weapons and think: they have this because they've played a lot and got lucky. I think that's sad. I should be able to have pride in my character which, frankly, I do not have.

Hey, for anyone interested, a lot of Bungie artists have contributed environment shots, high poly shots of weapons/vehicles, etc. here on Polycount: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=140088

Again, unless Bungie has gone on record to confirm that pvp rewards are 100%, therefore based on "luck" (or some other behind the scenes stat with unknown conditions that need to be met), all we have at this point is anecdotes. You earning drops for doing well is no more of a legitimate argument than me noticing the opposite, nor does it rule out or explain the absence of PvP stats being tracked in the game.

The fact that everyone reports different things suggest it's random much more than anything else.

Pvp stats are tracked on the app, btw.

Rewarding the best players with cosmetic stuff would be 100% ok.

Special shaders or emblems, for example.

But actual gameplay affecting gear? No.

unless a bungie employee went on record to say this, there is evidence to the contrary. perhaps the parameters have changed since the beta, but the iron banner was consistent in that players who averaged lower scores earned more rewards in the post-game than players who didn't. i wasn't the only one who noticed this.

bringing up selfishness in a game designed so that the player is always earning something for their guardian alone is a moot point. it's inherently selfish, especially with no means of sharing those earnings with others, let alone communicating with them.

Unless there's some statistics that you can show, I can't agree with this statement at all. I did well during the Iron Banner during Beta and got full rewards on two characters. I got both the Legendary Ship and the Legendary Hand Cannon.

So the crucible game mode that appears on the left with the daily and weekly stuff, does that give more rep or something if I go play that?

Again: random drops in pvp are like random drops in pve. Entirely random. They're not rewards, they're random drops.

It doesn't encourage you to lose because it's entirely random.

Anyone arguing for more is just being selfish.

Wanting a better loot system that rewards skill is being 'selfish'?

You should avoid games if that's your attitude lol

But that's not what you said on the last page:

worse players having less incentive vs good players having no incentive. it's not "fine". it promotes rubberbanding and other methods of tricking the system to exploit the fact that the players who underperform earn gear almost exclusively as opposed to those who contribute to the game. there are several ways they can address this, such as leaderboards or in-game ranks, so that players who strive for victory don't feel cheated when the guy feeding the other team kills gets the legendary rifle he's grinding crucible rep to try and buy. in its current state, the only reason to play crucible if you're looking for something in return is for marks and rep, and if you want more than that, the system encourages you to coast anywhere other than first place. this only further compounds the cat and mouse shotgun mentality of the game.

You were making statements of fact based on your draws of the random number generator.

This whole Destiny thing has made it very clear to me that we really, really need to add Statistics to the high school curriculum.

external app ≠ in-game. in the game, there is no incentive to win or go positive. this point still stands whether the pvp loot system is random or not.

Doesn't listen to this. Rank up the factions and the crucible and just buy legendary gear.

Do either. You can spend 10 - 15+? hours in the crucible leveling your Rank up to the point where you can purchase gear, or you can shoot into a cave.

Noob question, but when patrolling are loot cases random or always in the same places? Also, at the moment I'm getting some cash and a few materials. I'm level 8, is this normal or will I start to find guns and armour?

Sorry if this has been dealt with loads of times already.

Wanting to widen the power gap is. Taking away chance from people who will never be as good as you is.

It's not just about you and your rewards.

Well I've bought my Legendary and Exotic gear from Xur and the Crucible Quartermaster so I'm proud of mine.

All I've gotten from Drops are a Legendary pistol I don't use (AR for life) and a Legendary Rocket Launcher.

How are Titans movement compared to Hunters? I am debating making a Titan. .but I don't want to play the god damn story missions again.

Slower, but if you spec toward agility they can get pretty fast. With a gun that has the perk "+2 agility when held" you can actually move faster than Hunters.

I think I might cry. I just turned in a tonne of engrams. My last one turned into an exotic, a chestpiece, more specifically, the Crest of the Alpha Lupi which is the exact one I want! I get super excited.. but it's the Titan version :'(

Bladedancer needs a SERIOUS nerf, god damn it.

You just have to activate your Super, press everything and then boom Killing Spree.

Its not that easy anymore. I do get killed before I can do something more and more. I need to run into a minefield essentially. Hoping no one has special ammo loaded, or a super of themselves.

I think all 3 classes have OP supers. Shield can break Control games, but their other super is no slouch either. Nova bombs kill me a fuckload even though I jump.

I got killed with the Titan super moment I use mine. .and I at least have to do some spinning effect in area. I was about to kill a Titan and they twiched and use their super.

It's not overpowered, you just play a different class.

Need a striker titan to do titan smash on shield. It breaks it and kills everyone. Dude tried to throw down a shield on control point and he started dancing inside to mock me. I proceeded to hulk smash him into oblivion. Too bad i didnt have a kinect to record it.

expect no movement to be as good as the hunter options.

lift is asking everything in pvp to kill you and everything in pve to divert their attention to you (which can be great to draw fire)

i haven't gone somewhere like reddit to pool statistics like they did on legendary engrams. all i have are anecdotes, whether it's mine or from other forums. i chose to ignore the contradicting evidence therein, hence simplifying it as fact (which it isn't), as i felt it was neither substantial nor relevant to my main point, which i will repeat again: there is no incentive to do well in crucible. no matter what systems are in place - no matter how i arrive at this statement or conjure up supporting data, whether it's conclusive or bogus - that point still stands and is something i've mentioned several times prior to this discussion.

If I start a Titan and get to the farming spot for levelling up, will I still have the same chance at getting rare/legenadary engrams and for them to turn into lvl 20 items if the character is only level 5 for example?

Is anyone doing anything and would like a 26 Hunter with them?

I am up for the raid (never done it before), the daily story at a high level, the weekly strike at 26 or 28 and the nightfall strike

PSN is Klyka1

One more spot left for Raid. Anyone wants in? Preferrably with a level 26 or higher character.

I"ll join. I haven't necessarily made it to the last boss yet, but I beat the first one, and was at the
jumping puzzle.

If there's room, i'll join regardless. PSN ID: SlenderBeans

you don't get legendary engrams until 18 iirc

The high acceleration lift can be as quick as double jump. But anything before that, and I agree.

Pvp /itself/ is the incentive.

People play pvp to win, it's the entire point of it.
