I'm interested. Level 27 warlock, almost maxed out the sunsinger class. How long are you guys planning on playing. I'd say I have 5 hours at most.

However long everyone wants to keep going! I'm fine for several hours myself.

Add me on psn, FrsDvll

No, I'm not.

You hit max level in WoW, your first stop is dungeons. Bosses drop the gear you need to get into raids, while earning currency for better gear a long the way.

Destiny DOES NOT have this step. Destiny's strikes, which are supposed to be analogous to Dungeons, falls flat on its face.

Strikes are a horrible time investment in this game. Bounties are quicker rep, and public events are quicker marks.

The rep and currency gear is better than the dungeon dropped gear in WoW. If you run the dungeons every day and only use the dropped gear and zero rep and currency gear, you'll be severely underpowered in a Raid. Dungeons drops are not the primary progression into Raids. The rep gear is. The dungeon drops just make the subsequent dungeon runs that much easier. This is the entire purpose behind the way Dungeon Dailies work.

Does anyone else have a hard time sprinting in this game sometimes? Sometimes I have to click the stick four or five times for it to register, and it seems like it's far more likely to work if it's not tilted at all. This is the only game that has this issue. I'm on XB1, if that makes a difference.

I must have The Last Word. I thought I was done hoping for exotic drops and shit.

But I needs it, man.

I needs it bad.

I got it and its pretty fucking amazing. It headshots so easily making it possible to out shoot AR users.

I have the same issue on Xbox 360. It gets me killed so much.

So here's my conclusion: I was loving this game a lot more before trying the raid. The damn final boss is so annoying when people aren't playing in unison. If anyone needs an experienced 6th guy for the final boss let me know.

PS4, same problem for me

EDIT: As for the strikes being an hour thing, Most strikes I get at my level are mars, and the randoms I get take forever. I am attempting to do my 25 strikes for my exotic bounty, and will end up doing the moon one, but its not crazy to say they take an hour, even when you say the earth one takes 45 mins.

But by all means, keep defending a shitty loot system, for whatever reason

Pretty much. In WoW, all you need is dungeon blues to do your first raid when a new expansion hits, and the gear you have from those dungeons is enough to kill the bosses of the first raid. You don't need to rep grind if you dont want to (as I have never rep grind unless mandatory) and I have plenty of server first raid boss kills with dungeon blues.

No, I'm level 3 with FWC as well and have maxed out vanguard and crucible marks. There's nothing to do but sit on hands for a few more days.
What do you actually require to be able to progress right now...?
The problem is that there are more ways to "luck" into progress than there are to actually do it the consistent way. All of those ways would take 1-2 weeks off of what would be the typical progress route.
This is wrong. It's factually incorrect :( Did you read my guides? When you say 2 weeks I guess you must mean 8 days- for the reset/weekend vendor, I'm assuming- but even so, you can get quite far with the 200 marks available to you over the course of one week.

"Lucking" into progress is brutal in this game. It's not viable. Some people are lucky and get lucky, but for the most part, the average person can't come anywhere close to relying on rng for progression in destiny.

edit: ^there aren't a lot of useful comparisons to other games in terms of destiny's progression. it's obviously not that much like wow.

Yes. I thought it was just me. I'm on PS4. Seems to also affect shooting for me when I try it as well (like a stutter step and I can't fire). IDK. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Thats not the point. Ofcourse its better!

The point is you have to get gear to get more gear in WoW, and thats attained at the beginning by gearing from boss drops in 5 mans.
Bosses dont drop loot in Destiny. If they did, running shitty strikes over and over would make sense. As it stands now, it is sorely lacking. The currency in WoW is the goal eventually, but you have to get into max level purples from 5 mans before you can do anything else. There is a clear goal when gearing up in wow, one that has steady progression by getting gear from bosses.

Destiny is Rep up, or roll the dice. And when they limit our rep marks, it stagnates the flow, and causes the fanbase to feel underpowered and impatient. If they put in boss drops, we start to have a clear goal, and something consistent to do to get gear.

If you have been sprinting for a little bit and stop, you have to wait a few seconds before you can start sprinting again.

There's a guy using nothing but blink and a broken auto rifle and tearing everyone a new one because he can blink around so fast, give that shit a cooldown bungie.

The worst is if you run into a ridiculous blink spamming Bladedancer XIM user. They blink multiple angles and spam shotgun blasts, which will take any class' sheild/health down to nothing from absurd range in 1 blast. Add in teleport melee and it is just silly.

the raid bosses drop loot, though I don't think they have loot tables the way you want. there is gear you can only get in the raid though.

anyway it's really different than wow. not a useful comparison, imo

Man, I was happy to get my first exotic bounty, but it turns out this thing is just a fucking inconvenience, forcing me to grind on PVP all day.

I've got to achieve 500 void "damage" (whatever that means), and I don't have a primary weapon with void, or a shotgun, or a fusion rifle. I only have a sniper rifle which is useless in most maps, so I spent all day spamming the combined arms mode. I'm at 308/500 right now.

All of that for a hand cannon I'm probably gonna dismantle. The thirst for ascendant shards is killing me.

That makes no sense at all.. please clarify. literally not a clue what you meant :(

Oh, sorry, mistype. I meant Xur's weekly exotic for the titan class was a helmet. The word 'legendary' stuck in there was an accident.

That's a terrible way to try to farm strange coins :( Chests, PvP and especially public events all have much higher drop chances for Strange Coins.

(

Are they really? Maybe I'm misinformed, but I had been PvP-ing obsessively since launch and had a store of only about 8 strange coins AFTER doing the weekly strike.

I had been doing moon chest runs for the filaments for the upgrades, as well.

And the cave frequently pours out into a public event, so I was actively completing events as I was farming. Also, how do you find public events normally? I'd like to know how to get more of them.

Okay- those two legendary pieces with a few upgrades, plus two level 20 blues maxed out- that's enough for level 26. I'm so, so sorry you didn't realize this and spend your time getting there instead of farming. Not being sarcastic at all... that seriously blows.

I went in and did the math on this, and I believe I DID need that exotic (or a supply of ascendant shards, which I could not get in one night).

Check it out, here is my gear.

HELM OF NO TOMORROW (Legendary): Base light, 18. Upgraded to 22 light, which is as far as I can go without needing ascendant materials.

GAUNTLETS OF NO TOMORROW (Legendary): Base light, 18. Upgraded to 22 light, which is as far as that can go without the ascendant materials.

RAKU FULCRUM TYPE 1 (level 20 Blue):15 light, fully upgraded.

TOUTATIS TYPE 2 (Level 20 blue): 15 light, fully upgraded.

That all adds up to 74 light, which is 2 light from level 26. That is where I stand right now. I thought my best bet was to get the exotic, as that would give me that nudge I needed. Let me know If I got anything wrong here.

I was very disappointed in the Thorn at first, but I'm growing to like it as I level it.

...that said, it's being junked as soon as I loot a Hawkmoon or Last Word. ;)

Yeah. With how infrequently legendary engrams drop and how low your chance is to make them into actual legendary gear is, I think it's better to just do bounties + crucible and stuff. As much time as I spent grinding and looting, I could've been rank 2 in FWC. I'm almost there now.

I wonder if Bungie's intention was for players to focus on buying their gear and not relying on the drops.

I had a choice of three bounties and passed on that one because I suck at PvP. Make sure you Google the different bounties when you have a selection. PEACE.

How important are the weapon bonuses (increased reload, ammo capacity) from armor in the Raid? I like my stat spread, but the bonuses are all over the place.

I wonder if Bungie's intention was for players to focus on buying their gear and not relying on the drops.

I'd certainly hope so, otherwise they totally screwed the pooch.

Interested in finding a group to try the raid with so I can get me some more ascendant shards. I've never done the raid before though. Anybody else in the same boat?

happens to me all the time too, also on xbox one.

Things are going to get very ugly, very quickly. I pity the people getting into Destiny 1 month, 3 months, 6 months from now.

I really need a better weapon

Currently level 27 with about 50 hours played and all of my weapons are level 20 blues. Got the exotic bounty for Bad Juju (which is apparently shit) but it's 20 strikes and 10k PvP score away, anyway. I'm level 2 in FWC and not fond of Crucible to begin with, and I'm barely rank 2 in Vanguard so the opportunity to buy weapons there is incredibly far away. Fuck grinding patrols. Vanguard strikes should be worth far more rep, like at least 2x if they want it to be comparable to Crucible rep gain rates. I feel like the game shits on PvE players in terms of progression.

sigh

lol damn, 3/3 for legendary from legendary engrams today

You're not even guaranteed a drop that you can use from a boss in the 5 mans. That's not the primary path to progression. Many bosses and indeed, entire dungeons don't drop gear that your class can use. The daily system works just like strike playlist in the sense that it provides rep and currency towards the appropriate vendor gear.

And WoW caps players just as much, if not moreso than Destiny does as well. They just cap it per day rather than per week. Many times after a weeks worth of Dailies, you only have the currency for a single piece of gear. To hit the appropriate gear score, most people use a mix of the lesser boss dropped gear that they were lucky enough to get AND a few pieces of the rep gear.

Destiny doesn't give guaranteed loot drops on bosses but their is a higher chance of gear dropped from every other mob in the strike (and the world at large). If you've maxed your marks and earned the rep then in less than a week you can buy 2 pieces of Legendary gear. That plus level 20 blues that are upgraded will easily put you past level 24. The only way to stagnate at a level like 24 would be not maxing your marks and depending on rng drops in the world.

I read the guys and even told people to read your guides. While people were farming venus I was telling others how to join factions and make the most of it.

If you get a weapon, chest, and gauntlet piece - how many marks have you spent? A weapon alone is 150. Chest, legs, and arms are each 65. You're gonna be hurting climbing that mountain for a while unless you raise rep in a faction AND across both the crucible and vanguard vendors. I wouldn't mind it, but again - seeing people get exotics just for showing up makes that grind feel worse than it even is.

All but one of my legendary drops have been useful. Everything else has been either a dupe (as in, armor piece not better than one I already have) or unusable by main class. I could've bought items from Xur, but spending strange coins to replace items I've already spent marks on is redundant and wasteful.

I mean... its just a bad system. Its fixable, but its bad. And you only need to get lucky one time to really get yourself over the level 26 hump. I could absolutely drop the 12 remaining ascendant shards to get my legendary chest piece maxed out - but I shouldn't be essentially forced into that pricey predicament.

I was very disappointed in the Thorn at first, but I'm growing to like it as I level it.

...that said, it's being junked as soon as I loot a Hawkmoon or Last Word. ;)

Unfortunately I'm not a hand-cannon kinda guy. Hawkmoon is fucking gorgeous though, I might keep it if I get it.

I've currently got Hex Caster Arc as primary and it's perfect for my style. Combined with Broken Truth LR-1, I really don't feel the need to change weapons.

On another subject, 9 times out of ten when I go for a Tiger Strike, which is supposed to be random, I get the fucking Phogoth strike first. Does that happen to anyone else ?

I've had to bail on people at the beginning of strikes because of that and I hate it, but I simply cannot stand this fucking guy anymore.

I had a choice of three bounties and passed on that one because I suck at PvP. Make sure you Google the different bounties when you have a selection. PEACE.

Yup, I should have done that.

i found a gunslinger bro. perfect example of why i love the class. even the scoreboard looks the same - loot and all.

now i just need to find that hand cannon.

This is what happen in a crucible i was in like the 2nd or third day of release.

I get nothing, bad players get rewarded with an amazing weapon that I can't even buy.

got a legendary sniping rifle, sucks because i really want a shotgun but oh well. ill take any grace that fucker wish to give

also level 10 crypto rank, forgot i reached lvl 2 for crucible so couldnt use the bounties and shit to lvl up my new pieces of legendary armor.

also whats up with the stupid colors? i look like a cheap gundam

The weekly strike got you 3? That'd be 5 probably from pvp theyn I guess. So you were 5 away...[/quote]

I had been doing moon chest runs for the filaments for the upgrades, as well.
Okay, so far we're on the right track...

And the cave frequently pours out into a public event, so I was actively completing eventsf as I was farming. Also, how do you find public events normally? I'd like to know how to get more of them.

Sadly, public events are the most likely roll for coins and ascendant materials both that you can do on a regular basis.

Couple things...

1) Did you buy that legendary helmet? ;_; Helms are way more marks than any other armor piece. nooooo. Because you had the helmet you'd also have to have replaced the piece you had already upgraded nooooo argh.

2) So you'd done two upgrades to each legendary. You're right. ONE MORE UPGRADE puts you at 26! ;_; I'm so sorry. So all of the remaining possible upgrades needed shards, eh? Definitely the route you can do soonest. how many are you missing? I can only recommend public events for them.

At the higher levels, content like the Daily Heroic Story gives you a guarantee of most ascendant materials.

3) How many motes of light did you have? A random roll for the chest piece, one in 3 shot you'd have WAY exceeded 26. Such better than cave farming ;_;

So right now, you're sitting at like, what, how many marks of each vendor?

6+ hours of crucible today playing Control and Team Deathmatch. 6+ hours and my team only won a handful of times.

What am I doing with my life?

another thing

factions taking rep from all sources but only crucible marks as currency

why?

The first part has not been true for a while. Look at loot tables from 5 mans in MoP. Every instance has some piece of gear your class can use. Sure maybe not every boss, but yes every instance. While daily quests are capped daily as in their name, You can get your weeks worth of Valor/honor/conquest/justice points in a single day. Even rep gains almost always have no limit in terms of killing mobs and getting gains (up to certain levels in some cases but in others you can kill mobs all day for rep f you want). Again, I have personally cleared raid bosses at the start of expansions in blues and leveling greens (and so where the other 24 people in the raid with me). We had no time to finish rep grinds and still could kill bosses.

There are too many one hit kill things in the Crucible.

Yeah, there are quite a few. I was trying to think of all of them earlier when I was coding.

Interceptors, sniper rifle (somewhat), shotgun (somewhat), titan pound, hunter golden gun, hunter blade dancer, warlock void blast, fusion rifles (somewhat, does this count as one hit).

Its just the worst when you are in an intense firefight, on a streak, or get the drop on someone and then you die instantly
