First time I got a chest like this

When I was gathering relic iron earlier, I found ascendant energy in one of the chests. Completely surprised by that.
That happened to me a few days ago. Blew my mind, lol

Saw a couple weird instances today. First, I can no longer see my ship in the loading screens regardless of planet. Not really complaining as they look gorgeous without clutter on the screen:
Also, check the top line of loot, can someone really get 4 items as a reward?
As to your second picture, I think it's possible. I remember I finished up a strike with Admiral Puppy earlier today and I got three rewards once we left the reward screen. *shrugs*

Yea they definitely can. I had a party member get 4 items once. I actually got 3 after one match earlier today.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with that. Bungie really needs to either update the loot system or give players a better understanding of how the current system works.
I was right in guessing that today would be the day I got my first Legendary but it's just a Bond so it doesn't actually do anything. Looks cool though. I now have purple fire on my arm at all times. Unfortunately the fire doesn't show up in the character menu, only in game, so it's impossible to get a good screenshot of it.
Finally finished the raid (with one other Gaffer in the team)! It was so great. I can't believe how much it redeems the game.
Got:
Ice breaker sniper exotic (this one is a beast)
Monte Carlo AR exotic (not too sure about this one, but it's sexy)
Raid legendary gauntlets (can go up to 30 light)
A bunch of shards.

You people and your huge raid hauls. I only got the raid chest armor and some chards.
Not if you speed run and run past all the enemies you can. Best time is 4 minutes something on the level 12 version.
Meh the raid has a few spices added to it that I think just adds a bit more frustration than actual challenge. Typically when adds have a bit more health it doesn't do anything but waste ammo. Is this just to check if your weapons can rip through them? I also thought that the relic was a bit too confusing to use under the chaos, a lot of the elements felt not very well organized or woven together.
Considering how fast this thread moves this will probably be forgotten but here we go...

got the raid final boss health to halfway, but the game glitched and wouldn't teleport us to the timegates even though the oracles were active.

Been jumping back and forth between the PS3 and PS4 versions of Destiny pretty regularly. PS4 is in the bedroom, but my PS3 sits on the desk in my home office, so it's easier to sit and chat on IRC or surf the web while I play. I gotta say, when I'm on the PS3, I don't really miss the PS4 version that much, it's a perfectly serviceable version of the game, and there seem to be a lot of people on there playing whenever I'm on.

You can farm materials and trade them on for crucible points if you don't like that mode

But you need those mats to upgrade gear, so that's not really viable either.
I wouldn't recommend doing that as you need those planet materials for upgrading legendary gear.
The rep gain from trading in so many mats is way too low as well.

If he's not going to PvP then he should have plenty of time to farm. Otherwise he should just PvP.
Relic Iron is the easiest one to farm for reputation since it has the best loop for patrol missions and chests. I have turned in ~800 and always keep another ~100 in inventory just in case I need to upgrade.

Never mind. It's late and I misread your post.
You can blame Bungie for making the PVP reward system easily exploitable. What did they expect, people to follow the honor system?
