Natural Doctrine (PS4,PS3,Vita) coming to NA 09/16, EU 09/19

I'm still interested but have not yet pre-ordered. The release timing coupled with the brutal sounding difficulty is definitely giving me second thoughts. I'll most likely pick it up eventually but it just might not be at launch.

I guess I'll do that Amazon deal, although I'm not sure whether to go for the PS4 or Vita version. I normally get the NISA LEs, but it sold out almost immediately.

I probably shouldn't have looked at Amazon.jp reviews. :s

I really wouldnt trust amazon reviews too much considering they let anyone write reviews which includes people who never bought the game. Other folks most likely gave up before actually going through it.

Game is ugly as fuck I will tell you that, but the gameplay is pretty original. Though if you do not learn the battle system correctly it will seem like the enemy has endless turns. Also the story is a mess so dont buy the game hoping for something cool with that. But for those who want challenging gameplay and something original check the title out.

Im most likely one of the very, very few people here who actually are near the end of the game. Had to stop due to lots of other things going on, but am only like 3-4 more stages away from the end I think is where I left off.

Anyways if you want info follow the link below.

Can you repeat battles for grinding and learning?

Can you repeat battles for grinding and learning?

Yes you can up till a certain point and the game seems to cut you off forcing you to head towards the story missions. Am not sure what governs this though.

Thought what is good, is you are able to without penalty reallocate your skill points any way you want as long as you are on the world map. Therefore if one strategy isnt working with your skill allocation you can redo it and try again.

So is there going to be another patch to make it easier for the west before release?

Actually the patch in Japan made the game goddamned harder. Thanks to them "fixing" the ability to heal one of the characters with both magic and skills from another character. Now its you literally have to waste a turn to heal said character instead of being able to use someone else to heal and in another turn move the character. Am not giving specifics on what the character is as not to spoil anything, but it made a HUGE difference with difficulty and in the wrong direction.

----------

I will tell all you folks right now this game does not have towns, so dont expect that and there is no money or buying items. Everything you get equipment wise is found on the map. Repeatable maps have "semi random" treasure in it. Though story maps will have "set" chests which will contain equipment in it that can be only gained during the story play of said map. Therefore you miss it and its gone forever. With that in mind ALWAYS make it a habit to grab all the chests in story missions. Or you will miss some important gear that does make a difference.

Has the developer said anything about another patch beyond that one yet?

Am not sure actually. I have not followed up with the game in ages. Somehow I dont think so, since the bad part was too that so called "fix" to the healing of a certain unit they didnt even officially announce when it got patched. Am sure a lot of fans got pissed off with that. Which would make me concerned with what they said they added in a patch wont be all the changes they actually did... so would not have a good idea of what changed unless I actually played the game to see what else they decided to "fix".

One thing though is save often. As Ive had 2 freezes / hangs before. But pretty much was expecting it. Although this is over a long period of playtime 60+ hrs. So its not like its a frequent thing, so generally you folks dont have to worry.

It might have gotten one more patch actually. Though Id have to look at what version mine is another day. Right now the game is up to 1.03 which came out April 24th 2014. There was a day 1 patch though to solve a bunch of issues I think which brought it up to 1.01 pretty quickly. Hmm actually no I think this is the last patch I got reading the notes.

Its a real shame they didnt seem to do the omochidashi pack which was a PSV / PS3 or PS4 game together. Physical PS3 / PS4 + digital copy of PSV.

Pretty sure it doesn't. Also maybe I'm misunderstanding, but usually cross-buy is for digital versions of games only, isn't it?

Yes though Japan version provided both as Parakeetman mention

:( Guess I be getting the Vita version, would save me money if it did. Europe don't have the LE so have to buy the overpriced ones

At least once the PS TV comes out you can play the game on it. Since it should be supported.

I have it pre-ordered from Amazon for $40 + $10 credit back. It keeps getting delayed, but I'm going to be playing Theatrhythm, Hyrule Warriors, and Smash all around the same time. I will have to wait to play it, but I don't want to cancel that amazing deal. :P

Pretty much sums my thoughts up on the game.

Obviously so many pre-orders they had to print a new batch of copies. Jk.

Looking forward to giving this game a try though.

Would be interesting to confirm what patch number the US version is up to.

truthfully the game was easier before the difficulty adjustment patch. because they changed an important feature making an essential character fairly useless now.

My copy showed up yesterday... I forgot I even had pre-ordered it, haha. My backlog is already big enough, so this game will likely be a benchwarmer for awhile.

Bought the game a few days ago.

It's not as bad as reviewers have said. I quite like it, despite the occasional unfairness and weird design choices. Bought the Vita copy so I feel that the graphics are alright. The difficulty hasn't been that bad to me yet. Just reached
Sodom
.

I think one way to approach this game is to see it as a puzzle game where you're trying to take over squares while getting rid of enemies without compromising anyone (aka by dying and getting game over). If you insist on playing a regular SRPG you'll probably be disappointed.

The story is nothing to rave nor complain about. I wish that they had the budget to make more environments though. The art work is nice but the game has been mostly mines, caves and ruins everywhere. You can really tell that this game didn't get much of a budget.
