I can't hear it :(

Bungie discriminating against old people.
Agreed. I didn't even know there was a noise...

Good god, I don't think that I would have been able to find half the stuff I have without the sounds. I would have even overlooked boxes that I knew the spawn of from just going too fast, like some that are more hidden and you can't see the green glow of (like back corners between wall and table on some earth spots) without the sound. Do you guys play other music when playing the game, or have the sound low?

Another good tip is to leave one mob up in a group if you don't want to deal with them shooting at you. Things don't respawn unless their entire group is dead.

Looks like it's time to grind mats for armour and weapon upgrades. :/

What's the most guaranteed method for acquiring Ascendant Shards?

Heroic story level 28 and getting a gold rank in a public event and getting the three chests in raid and beating the entire raid. Also breaking down legendary gear you don't want.

PvP is such fucking shit

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills because I don't know how anyone can like this. People just running around with shotguns on shitty clusterfuck maps. Oh, you managed to shoot at him first? Too bad he's just teleported behind you because he chose a different class and now you're dead.

Or he's got a golden gun and can one shot you for no reason. Or take a million bullets and lunge at you and kill everyone because fuck it. Why not huh?

I wouldn't even be angry if I could ignore this entire aspect of the game.

So you're saying it's a modern first person shooter? That is weird.

Doing the daily strike at level 28 will guarantee 2 ascendant mats and achieve gold tier on your first daily event nets you 1 ascendant mat in the mail. Other than that, I think it's mostly random from disassembling and decoding blues/purples.

EDIT: Completing random world events can also net you ascendant mats when it is completed, but you only get them sometimes, it's not guaranteed.

I'm at .8. I know I suck at Crucible but, I enjoy it. It's fun sometimes to have better than stock AI. I'd hate to think someone thinks I'm playing it just to farm just because I have a sub 1 KDR. I try to help in other ways anyways, such as capping points, etc. when I can.

He was talking about some guy at .05, .5 is 'I'm bad at PvP but I'm playing and possibly enjoying it'

.05 is I don't even

.8 isn't awful, I would not be surprised at all if the bell curve is centered right around 1

And at the end of the day, k/d is a stupid epeen stat, if you're having fun, great.

Play Crucible with at least one teammate and you'll have so much more fun. Just sharing Heavy ammo and wrecking the other team because they don't do the same is awesome.

No, I literally cannot hear it, period.

They set the frequency past old man ears.

I've got a pretty good sound system, and volume up. There's just so much ambient noise/score/shooting, I don't notice whatever sound the chest makes. It needs to be more like Crackdown orbs!

I really hope those Queen's Wrath bounties are something interesting and not just updated versions of regular bounties, like instead of melee'ing 30 dudes without dying you gotta melee 60.

Crossing my fingers some of them have level requirements or introduce a new enemy to hunt down, etc

Looking to set a time for tomorrow evening to hit up the Nightfall Strike once it refreshes.

Send a FR only if you can make that time tomorrow to do it. I want to do it the first day to get the most out of the XP bonus for the rest of the week.

If I'm online at that time tomorrow (which I likely will be), shoot me an invite. It's MiniMe637 from the raid.

I would agree that the teleport and shoties need to be nerfed. I don't mind when someone one shots me with their super cause I guess that makes sense it is a super. But.....the melee specials need to be re balanced. The fact that a titan can one shot me with their melee after I pumped 5 bullets into their head is complete crap. Either make all the other classes melee one shot or nerf titan.

My life since Destiny launched:

I need to mow the grass - just a couple more crucible matches (2 more hours pass and now too dark)
I Need groceries - I'll go tomorrow and just eat something really fast over the sink.
I need to do laundry - speed run to the basement during loading screens
I need to go to the bathroom - speed run during loading screens
I need to go to work - read GAF and Destiny stuff all day

etc.

Kidding, sort of.
Haha. Me too. I am in full addiction mode right now. In about another week I will be tired of same content. I really hope they held a lot back to keep us interested.

I'm enjoying it, probably because I haven't played a console shooter since Halo3. You may get lamed out by a super or shotgun here and there, but if you really understand the angles of the maps and can get the first shot on someone, chances are high you'll get the kill. You dont even really need good aim, you just need good positioning and radar awareness. It takes time though. I started out pretty shit and now I'm starting to have more and more breakout games the more I play. That said I need to start playing rumble more... playing control in pubs makes me want to hammer nails through my dick.

.05 is a little sketchy, yeah.

Honestly everyone should be using all three character slots to do at least one daily public event each day. It takes about 30 minutes to open up the patrol mission for earth, and since everyone is farming the cave, there's always people around to help with the public event that spawns there. You can get 3 mats per day this way. Helps a lot.

Rattle off some of these FPS titles so I can direct you to the rest of the internet shitting on them. It's like a fun game.

Oh please, other FPS at least have most people with equal footing, this game has distinct gear advantages in PVP and thanks to the shitty lack of matchmaking by ranking, lowbie players with almost no abilities unlocked are put up against players fully maxed out with all kinds of tricks up there sleave to use.

And with so many weapons that do plinking bits of damage, it's sad how many one shot options exist.

Did Bungie address why the story missions don't have matchmaking?

Why would they?

I agree that I do not like the pvp in this and only really do it to get marks, but for really different reasons then you. I think it's shit because its an ADS low TTK modern console shooter. The only parts of it that I enjoy a lot are the things you hate. The unique movement abilities and specials. They all have their own risk rewards to them, and if someone blows a special move just to kill you, something that one shot of a shotgun or fusion rifle would do, you won that match up. They wasted a special and didn't generate orbs for their team to do more specials. If they got a lot of kills with that special then they used it to bust up a camping area and is a viable you should learn a lesson about the risks of stacking.

Titan's 'one shot melee' requires 2 seconds to charge, only stays active for ~5 seconds after charging, can be jumped over, can be shotgunned, can be fusion blasted.

If you're close enough that a Titan is shoulder checking you, he was on your radar and you didn't respond appropriately, given the time involved in activating the charge.

If it wasn't a Titan bash, you would have died just as easily and quickly to a sliding shotgun.

Treat charging Titans the same way you should be treating charging shotgunners, pull out your fusion rifle, back up, blast them and laugh when they explode.

Guys been farming for 40+ hours now and looked what dropped:

It it nice to have and exotic main weapon, but a Shotgun with a Sniper Scope! Shiiiiiit.

Not liking it so far, but I guess it will grow on me.

Hnnnnng.

My unsubtantiated guess is multi-step bounties similar to the exotics, but I hope it is a bit more robust than that with useful rewards. Not expecting exotics, but some boosted rep at the very least would be sweet.

If you lose, you hate it. If you win, you like it.

Gotta understand the rules if the game. You will die to supers. But so will they, so it equals out. Are you getting heavy ammo? Are you running around close quarters without a shotgun? Are you not a Titan, but trying to play close combat?

If you are afraid of shotgun instant kills, then don't be in narrow hallways with bad vision for too long. Set grenade traps, get the first shot, make use of your class strenghts

You're at that stage where it seems like a clusterfuck without balance because your play style is likely unconsidered and too erratic (like mine in most games lol). The game is actually pretty well balanced save for a few things like the Blade Dancer and Blink. But having supers in and of themselves does't make it unbalanced. With a bit of tactical consideration and team work, you can overcome the negatives of most supers, and when you do get killed by one, which is inevitable at the end of the day, you always have your own to claw back with, so it's fair when all is said and done.

I'm playing a hell of a lot of Crucible at the moment, and whilst I wouldn't say I was especially good at it, I've played enough that I wouldn't consider any particular weapon overpowered. They all have their pro's and cons.

Why would they?

Because it sucks? Co-op orientated game without story matchmaking haha. I'd like to go back and play the missions again on harder difficulties but don't see the appeal without other players, matchmaking makes it easier. Why do Strikes get it but story and even weekly / dailies don't have it? Such a poorly designed system.

Finally got RNGesus to roll in my favor. Hard Light from the Crucible! That's exactly the auto-rifle I wanted!

Now I just have to decide on a secondary...

Anyone worried Bungie will raise the prices on Xur this Friday? I hope not, but being paranoid.

I just want him to sell the hunter helmet from the first weekend and/or the Knucklehead one. Or alpha lupi chest.

I need something to replace my blue helmet. But the lupi chest is sweet.

I could see it. The Queen's Wrath will be active by that point, so they may be looking to slow things down again.

I'd be so mad. Been looking forward to getting some cool armor for the hunter. That said, I haven't spent anything the past few weeks so it should be good.

Exactly what I'm looking for!

I've gotten on one or two good runs with my Titan where I feel like an unstoppable god of PVP, but mostly it's just me getting one shotted in situations I shouldn't be in. It's going to take me forever to get from Crucible rank 1 to rank 2.

I started a hunter to take a break and played some PVP at level 8. I was happy to see that you can pick either spec at the start, instead of having one locked out until level 15. Also, I played a bit of PVP with him and did much better (on average) than with my level 25 Titan.

Vanguard/Crucible reset is tomorrow night?

I do disagree with this a bit though. Auto rifles and shotguns won most matches. Hand cannons and fusion rifles do the job too, but I've yet to see anything with the pure effectiveness of shotguns and auto rifles. Both have too much range and are too accurate for their own good

I'm not sure if this is fully understood, but the Legendary weapons in the tower have fixed mods - you can find the exact same weapon in the wild with different mods.

Mods can absolutely define a weapon, the right combination can do amazing things for different guns.

The name sets the baseline stats, but the mods affect everything else about its behavior.

(It's also one of the reasons that even though everyone is/can be in full exotic/legendary in a bit over a week, the hunt for 'perfect' loot will go on for a looooooooooong time - to get a full set of all primary weapon types and elements for special/heavy with the mods you want on the guns you want is going to take weeks, probably months)

Yeah, and this is what I think Bungie did backward. The dropped loot should give Legendaries more often so everyone can enjoy all of the content (raids and nightfall), and the vendors should be the next step after that where they offer the stock model and let you pick the perk set and color of the weapon/armor.

The vendors should be the end game of getting the perfect set, and the drops should get you in the door and give you a chance to try out fun builds and see what works for you...what you want to spend rep and marks on.

When I go into pvp I swap out my sweet ass purple and gold gear for blues. Some of them are like level 14 or some shit.

Rares with the right mods are more than competitive with any legendary or exotic.

There is a lot (a LOT) going on in Destiny pvp, and most people barely understand even a fraction of it, so when they die to a titan shoulder charge, or oveshield, or a warlock overshield, or a hunter cloak or blink, or a warlock self res, or a titan bubble, or a sticky grenade, or a fusion rifle from medium range, or a seemingly even AR fight where the other guy scored his temporary damage bonus, or a heavy weapon shot, or or or or or or or

it feels like BS

When you understand what is going on and what other classes and weapons are capable of, it's a lot less frustrating

Beyond that, solid fundamental fps skills still rule in pvp. And if you go in with even one friend and coordinate just a little, you can kick ass.

I see people who aren't even using the basics of Destiny combat well in pvp yet, much less the nuances.

If you aren't using your primary, your special, your heavy, your melee, your grenade, your jump, your super, and slides, you are not taking advantage of your basic tools.

Weapon mods and class builds are secondary to those basics, and they are what you should be focusing on if you're struggling in pvp.

So i'm at work debating if I should bother upgrading the last two damage slots of this when I get home. I've had some fun with it. My armor gives me a total ammo size of 933 when full lol.

Can Motes only be spent on 1) cosmetic items from the Speaker and 2) exotic gambling with Xur?

If that's all they are good for, I'm giving them all to Xur, screw those stat-less armbands.

I'm with you.

Additionally, I think I've only played 4 maps in my 70 hours with this game and save for one of them, they are, for me, some of the worst maps I've played in a MP game. I never want to see Rusted Lands for as long as I game.

I feel the same way about Firebase Delphi. Ugh.

I am HIGHLY interested in this as well!

Not quote you're asking but Doctor Nope is working out for me so far (but I didn't pay for it). Stability really sucks but if you power it up and remember it gets more accurate the more you fire it's good.

Do you guys think Bungie is ever going to nerf the treasure cave?
It'd be a fucking disgrace if they don't. It's borderline embarrassing that this boring farming can be more rewarding than doing strikes. Shame for me is that I can't stand doing this farm for more than a few minutes before questioning what the fuck I am doing.

I can only hope people like that are trying for Fusion Rifle spree bounties, or something, and are just really bad at the weapon.

Nah, I'm probably a .5 normally and a .7-1.0 on a good day and that's only because I don't care for tactics. Run and gun, YOLO, etc. I have fun at least.

And you're pointing this out more in a "I hope they're somehow having fun." than a "they're hurting the team", which is correct. I'm fine.

One thing I will say about the Crucible is the lag can be pretty fucking terrible at times. I got a postmortem kill from fucking melee tonight.
