Destiny |OT4| Get your ass to the Vault of Glass and help Timmins find better pants

I did Vault of Glass last night. In the Gorgon Maze, there's actually a chest, we found it when we got lost. I've seen probably 10 videos of people doing that thing, and nobody has ever found the chest. Makes me wonder if it's just not there all the time or if it's just not public knowledge.

There are 2 chests in that section. You missed one! :P

Is there any way to check in the Destiny mobile app how many Vanguard or Crucible marks I have for this week of the allowed 100 ?

OK, now I'm jealous.

Dismantle and grab those shards. Those suckers are invaluable.

Class items don't dismantle into shards iirc. You get basic mats regardless of the rarity. Otherwise you could just buy legendary class items and dismantle them for shards. Since they only cost glimmer it'd be way too easy.

Got 3 more legendary engrams from leveling the Cryptarch and all turned into blue items

fuck..this..game

I'm not clear on what the motivation is supposed to be, even when you grind and finally get a "good" drop chances are it will turn to shit

I so regret buying this digitally now

Are you farming instead of gaining rep to actually buy legendaries? That's way more fun and varied. I'd regret buying the game too if all I did was shoot into a cave or whatever. The motivation of the game DEFINITELY does not come from throwing engrams at RNG and hoping sheer volume gets you something worthwhile.

That's like trying to find motivation to play the lottery. It's something you do if you have an extra $5 in your pocket (same way I farm, if I happen to have to do something in Old Russia, sure, I'll shoot into a cave for a little while), not something you stand by the register at a bodega buying rolls of tickets and using the paltry winnings to buy more and you look up and "oh shoot, time to go home and feed my birds."and then just rinse and repeat the next day.

I maxed out my crucible marks for the week, 100/100. Do you guys know when that restarts?

yep same played 4 hours hours this morning -____- too FINALLY get my first LEG some pants... at least I'm almost level 25 but DAMN its just tooo much for so little reward. :( Liking the Galahad E though amazing headshot weapon. Taking the rest of the day off though.
This game is soo weird for me I've love every Bungle game and every one of them as been "repetitive" but this one takes the cake for some reason. Not sure why. I mean I played like 2000 hours of REACH and LOOOOOVE IT. I fucking HATE that most of the harder shit doesn't have any matchmaking... I've got a few of you on my friends list but just cant seem to get together... I have yet to do a weekly heroic strike. :( I still love the MP but for fuck sake release MORE MODE WTF.

How is it wrong? I'm at level 27 and in desperate need of all materials, lol.

This thread moves too fast, I've posted guides to speed farming mats a few times, but they get buried.

I need to make a blog or some shit, I'm tired of answering the same questions every few pages :D

Long story short: You can farm up stacks of mats really fast once you know what you're doing.

Fast enough that you'll have more than you ever need, the gate on leveling gear is ascendant material, not planetary material (and to a lesser extent, xp, particularly for exotic weapons).

Extra material is useful for generating free marks (great for people who hate pvp) and good xp, with a very slight rep/glimmer gain.

I've gotten all my useful loot from that cave. I've dabbled in level 20+ strikes and Crucible and gotten nothing from them but the magic cave gave me Light+15 rares in all slots. Zero legendary emblems, though, from anywhere in the game, so I'm 100% rare and zero purple level 24.

This is how I got to 24 as well. It seems that is the max level for blues. The nice thing about the cave for me was that I got enough strange coins to buy an exotic from Xur over the weekend. I also farmed patrols and public events for vanguard reps and marks to buy my first legendary gauntlets. I am now 25 and once I upgrade (need helium and iron) I should hit 26.

I get what you're saying but I can't agree that that the cave shouldn't be fixed. Level 20+ should not be in a starting zone shooting level 3-5 mobs for end game gear. It's poor game design, brought on by the lack of loot from other end game sources. Don't get me wrong I'll continue to take advantage of it, but I can't imagine this not getting changed at some point, I'm honestly a little surprised it's still going.

It took me awhile to get anything but blues. I still haven't had anything but blues drop for me. But I saved enough rep and coins to get a legendary and an exotic through vendor purchases...this is the only thing I can count on.

For me I've gotten about 4 legendary drops from the cave but only 1 turned into a legendary item. I got a fairly nice legendary machine gun. What I have appreciated the most about it is the power leveling of gear and skills. I will switch to my lower class (bladedancer) and equip weapons that aren't maxed out yet. Leveling gear while trying to farm for blues that I hope drop strange coins and motes of light for me. The gear itself isn't generally useful anymore.

I really do hope Bungie finds a way to make the loot system more rewarding than it currently is because IT SHOULD be more rewarding to complete a strike than to farm a cave for the same length of time. Strikes are fun but also the least rewarding in terms of gear and stuff received for completing them.

Don't grind. Play for fun, rank up the factions, and buy your first legendaries from one of the vendors. Then continue playing for fun, and you'll eventually come across better legendaries.

Yall REALLY need to stop relying on drops.

Can you please post again - I'll bookmark lol

If you lose, you hate it. If you win, you like it.

Gotta understand the rules if the game. You will die to supers. But so will they, so it equals out. Are you getting heavy ammo? Are you running around close quarters without a shotgun? Are you not a Titan, but trying to play close combat?

If you are afraid of shotgun instant kills, then don't be in narrow hallways with bad vision for too long. Set grenade traps, get the first shot, make use of your class strenghts

This is good Crucible advice, play to your strengths - utilise all the tools of the trade.

You on X1? Some dude in the Review thread got a refund on his Digital Guardian edition.

Also, has anyone had to do the exotic bounty where one of the steps is to dismantle 10 fusion rifle, rare or higher? Pain in the ass, haven't had one since getting the bounty. Hopefully the gunsmith will have some rare rifles at some point.

Honestly, the only thing that I hate about Crucible is god damn bladedancers. Being able to glide across rooms that fast mashing your melee button, killing everyone as you saunter by is ridiculous. Tell me it takes any skill to use, I dare you.

Yeah, I'd definitely read it. I could use some spare planetary mats.

TELL ME YOUR SECRETS (please)

Is there a video that shows how to get to both?

Idk about a video but probably. There are many written guides though with images to show you the way But which one did you find?

There is one
down the right side of the cave if you run along the right wall from where you start. The other is in an opening above you and to the left of where you first drop in.

It was to the left, but not sure about in an opening. We just went left, walked pretty far down a series of hallways, made some turns, ended up in a deadend with a circular stone pillar with the chest on top.

I hate farming for materials. I swear Helium and Spinmetal will make me end up hating this game. OK I'll never hate this game but still, it's so annoying that my progression is now determined by scourging materials among low level enemies.

I don't mind grinding for Marks - I can do that with PvP or Strikes or Public Events, which are all entertaining. This is why I've never really been bothered by the engram debacle. I've bought all my Legendary and Exotic gear, and I believe this is what Bungie intended for us to do, with a lucky purple drop being a random plus.

However, my leveling now depends strictly upon my patience for mindless, numbing farming of materials. I'm currently at level 26. I'm sure I'll make it to 27 but no more. The jump to 28 would require ridiculous farming which I'm not willing to do, it just isn't fun :/

This! Engrams and PvP rewards are lottery, simple.

Just got this from a Legendary engram;

I already have the Suros Regime as my main exotic weapon though so it won't replace that but still handy to have.

So, apart from doing dailies and random decriptions, any good way to farm ascendant energy? I've actually got a weapon I want to use it on now.

It's up a cliff. Pretty hard to spot the opening. You need to climb the cliff to get in.

The drops were just to get my level up so I could get to the lvl 24 strikes as the droprate during a strike is beyond horrible and you need gear post 20 in order to level.

I'm trying to do faction as well, but you are capped per week.

But I meant the idea behind it, seeing a purple is rare as shit and statistically you are likely to walk away with a blue...who thought this was a good idea?
