The cave really is just a player answer to a broken loot system. You have the worst players in pve and even pvp getting rewarded because luck. Meanwhile you bust your ass in strikes, manage to see some blues and then they're downgrades? It's frustrating.

Let's not pretend that only shitty players go to the cave. It's where RNGesus believers go to worship.

I'm guessing those items will cost glimmer and a token of some sort.
Otherwise I'd buy out the store and glimmer farm to quickly get all the shards and energies I would ever need. Wait, purple rares. Scratch that idea.
useless.

LOL @ advertising unique legendaries and making them all cosmetics. Bungie trolling.

Its camping a mob spawn cave for hours.

I really don't have a problem with the "broken" loot system, but it is baffling why lv4 mobs can drop lv20 gear.

I think they did it that way so that you can go back and help out lower level friends on their missions while still having a chance at progression for yourself. The game seems to do some level of stat balancing so that those lower level guys can still hurt you. So you can at least have a slightly meaningful experience when grouping with someone else.

The baffling part for me is the bounties that have you going back to the low level patrol zones even when you are aren't grouping with someone. The enemies there have no chance of hurting you so the "Do 6 moon patrol missions" bounty effectively reads "do 6 mindless, completely trivial tasks". And tragically, for rep grinding purposes, those missions end up being a better way to make meaningful progression than doing the high level strikes that can can still be quite dangerous and interesting.

Defender subclass for Titan needs a buff.

The bubble shield has ONE area of influence, just ONE, and all the enemy has to do is just not enter it. Compared to all the other unforseen one shot kill specials, the bubble shield is just terribly terribly underpowered.

I've had guys get inside and kill me. I've had guys just hulk smash it. I can't tell you how many times I've had blade dancers just casually come inside and chop me down despite my damage resistance abilities.

The bubble shield should do significant DPS to any enemy who comes inside of it.

Armor wise, the buffs of the class barely do anything in PVE.

So to beat the broken loot system you are going to rely on the system? Good plan.

damn i have been playing this game wrong, why waste time with other stuff when you can get easy marks to buy gear with public events. I got like 50 marks in 1.5 hr doing stuff on earth.

Here's hoping those aren't only for Crucible maps.

Even if they are initially why would they be forever? They've already said Destiny is a 10 year IP. MMOs are never finished, they're always adding new stuff. Final Fantasy XI, for example, has probably 10x the amount of content now as it did at launch. Not an exaggeration either, literally 10x. WoW is the same. People are looking at Destiny 2 weeks after launch and saying "this game doesn't have enough content". I need the Jackie Chan gif, that's how insane that kind of comment sounds. Why would they just stop and say "ok you guys are good for the next 10 years now"? Or artificially limit themselves to saying "ok for the next 10 years we can only have new content on the existing planets"? Makes no sense.

I guess if you wanna sit there and shoot into a cave and call that "fun," go for it. I just don't want to hear that you don't like the game because you aren't getting good loot dropping from it.

And you don't. Not only is my loot game fine - I do enjoy the game. More of it than you do, apparently. I feel like I'm getting more of my $60 worth than someone who *just* plays PvE or PvP. I do some of everything.

No the cave somehow is a glitch to the system in which I can earn bounties, level up gear/spec and get blues/purples all within the time it takes to do one zone of a strike. I've done tons of strikes and netted 0 upgrades. Meanwhile I do the cave for a bit and suddenly I'm up 3 legendaries and a rare upgrade to my sniper.

Intricate?

The bosses are just bullet sponges that fire on people. There is no dance to do, or cool effect in any of the strikes.

Also there is one raid, which people are farming for.

I think the fact that people are shooting a cave at all is what made that comment funny.

I'm still level 13 on my first character. I just don't have a lot of time to play. It makes me sad whenever I read this thread 'cause I want to play with y'all.

Got my second Legendary Engram--got Warlock Bond. Useless, but at least for my class I suppose.

Played a little PvP. I suck ass at it like any competitive MP. But I don't mind some rumble every now and then, especially when there's a complete 5 match bounty, to maybe slowy grind to buying an item or two to supplement my vanguard focus on days I want to play more after doing all the vanguard bounties and daily mission. I don't like doing the team modes since I just pull a team down. Better to take my beating in Rumble and maybe luck into some good drops post match on top of the crucible marks and rep.

Yeah, and a decent chance at an Exotic.

For 26 you're gonna have a hard time with the first section of the Strike, especially dealing with all the Wizards and the Arc shielded Knights. Void Burn is active so Void weapons work well. I suggest having someone who's dedicated to dropping Knight shields and then someone else can mop them up with Void weapons. As for the Wizards, use Gjallarhorn if you got it, or a Solar Heavy then mop them up with Void after.

After that it's pretty easy if you follow this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ymOMHLxxGo

I will watch this later. Still haven't done Nightfall yet.

Yeah we were noticing that running the "do 5 strikes without dying" bounty. How are these level 8 mobs even scratching us? Whenever you run up on a mob 3-4 levels higher then you they are immune to damage... I guess the 5 strikes without dying would be pretty cheesy if you where invincible tho.

I guess you know what ships exiting hyperspace should behave like? I'll cut them some slack there.

It's not that, it's that it doesn't obey the laws of a zero gravity environment. You exit and the momentum of your ship lurches forward like you're literally putting on the brakes, then kinda "settles" as it regains its trajectory.

It just looks lazy, like they don't have any understanding of how ships move through space...which isn't surprising, considering the game is science fiction in the shallowest sense possible.

They could have based their animation on any other sci-fi property/movie and it would have looked better. It's just disappointing, given the design of everything else in the game.

No, Destiny 2 will be here by 2017. This singular game is not going to last 8 to 10 years.

Because it makes more sense to develop a brand new game from scratch when the first one took 6 years, and get a one-time $60 sale than to simply keep adding content to an existing game and get $20 every 3 months? Ok.

"This singular game as it exists now isn't going to last 8 to 10 years". Fine, nobody disagrees. I take it you don't have much background with MMOs though, because the game in 2-3 years is going to be much different than the agme now.

O/U on the loot cave's lifespan? I give it another week.

Till your fields while you can, everyone. They're is coming to salt the earth.

Bungie will stand far off and cry: "'Woe! Woe to you, great cave, you mighty cave of Old Earth! In one week your judgment has come!'

So only the good players should get good rewards? That's a great way to lose 80% of your customers in a game. If they did that this game would be empty except for tryhards in less than a month.
I've finished first in PvP many times and never gotten anything good... I find it hilarious and it's a fair system. It's random.
Being first is the reward

Of all my critiques of the game, the most nitpicky is the ship design and animation. Ship designs, barring a few, are pretty disappointing. They look more like ships lifted from arcadey shoot-em-ups than anything else. Compare them to what is in Elite: Dangerous or Star Citizen and they just look BAD.

The animations really aren't much better. They don't move like actual spaceships would--way too agile.

I'm not asking for sim levels of realism, but your ship ACTUALLY looks like a car putting on its brakes when you exit hyperspace. It's goofy as fuck.

/minirant
Skrrrrrrrrr...thats the noise my spaceship makes as I pull the e-brake. Ima wizard from the moon!!

I wonder what the "fix" will be. Maybe limiting the chance of drops from the cave spawners to green only?

There are other places to farm. Nexus. Spawning Vex on Mars. They would have to change a lot more than just the cave.

The cave is just the easiest place to do it.

When is this week over? I'm still not getting any marks and the weekly strikes haven't changed.

yeah 100 marks is stupid.. :/ thats only about 30 games min.... for me the pve is really stale in this game and PVP is all I'll be playing mostly down the road...

I have a feeling if they're going to do something it will be within the next few days.

Without question. And it's an easy fix. Have mobs spawn less frequently. In reality, the fix should be that high level loot cannot drop from level 5 mobs. That part is a big nonsensical to me.

"All these" intricate raids? lololol

Just posted this in the review thread: I'm not crazy about Angry Joe, but he said pretty much the same: players might not be exploiting the cave if they felt like they didn't need to, due to consistent mission-end rewards and actual loot drops from bosses.
They certainly do not need to. It is merely a path of least resistance and still relies on multiple dice rolls. Unless I'm misunderstanding something could one not spend hours there without getting anything of use?
