yep, to go further, if there were more interesting places to explore, and more variety in terms of strikes, and re-playable story missions, and all these things would give me something 'interesting' at the very least in the end, I would be doing all these activities.

But since there aren't interesting places to go, limited amount of strikes, and terrible story chapters, and a insanely AWFUL pvp section, farming the cave is about the only worthwhile activity in terms of progression.

At least after a few minutes of doing that, you get a sweet cave full of shiny engrams to pick up and feed to the cryptarch, and who knows, you might get something awesome. That's how I got my legendary gauntlets, legendary rocket launcher, and legendary machine gun...farming the cave.

Not exploring some amazing landscape, not a super fun and intense strike, or finishing up a fantastic mission in the campaign.

I thought I was special for receiving multiple legendary helmets and a legendary cloak from the cave. I didn't know they dropped legendary rocket launchers. Angry Joe's review shocked me with the revelation that those activities were pointless. You'd think they'd give you SOMETHING for doing all that.

*Goes back to farming*

I stopped farming some time ago. It burns you out. I just focus on marks and rep. And guess what, I got a Zombie Apocalypse from the nasty cryptarch, I found the engram during a Mars bounty run. Didn't farm for it at all.

I love Zombie Apocalypse by the way. Shoots beautifully.

You can glitch in there right now and take your anger out on some Fallen if you'd like :)

In terms of Bungie's approach, I imagine if they'd opened everything up right from the beginning; Raid(s), Queen's bounties, currently locked areas not tied to DLC (e.g. those in Old Russia), then people would likely binge on everything and then put the game aside. They clearly want to make Destiny something that you want to keep coming back to in the coming months regardless of what new and shiny thing has been released, and so they give you a reason to do that by dishing this stuff out piecemeal each week. It's not an approach I'm incredibly fond of either, but I can understand why they chose to go that route.

Bungie is using a strategy that's similar to Arena Net's GW2 approach. Which gives out smaller bits of new content more often instead of Blizzard's WoW approach of major content releases with longer dry spells.

Personally, I like the small bits more often as it's very easy to burn through content whether it's large or small and getting new stuff more often is just more enjoyable to me.

I finally beat the weekly heroic strike solo yesterday.

Nice! I can't imagine how I'd deal with those fucking Wizards and mobs solo during the bit while your ghost is opening the door :\

The Cryptarch has went from an incompetent Engram decrypter to a straight troll.

Me: Oh sweet I got an exotic out of a purple engram! My second Exotic after 45 hours. Yay!

Wait a minute..... What the fuck.........

The same Rocket Launcher are you serious. That is some calculating bullshit right there. I actually respect the commitment to find new ways to create despair.

the new way is giving legendary class item after reaching Rank 3 or more on your faction, I just got the same Warlock arm thingy I bought from FWC after reaching Rank 4 :(

Diablo 3 was on a completely different level of infuriating. I ran the butcher so many times I lost count.

I really don't understand the hate for cave farmers. Don't like it? Don't do it. There are various ways to gear up for high level strikes and raids. You don't NEED to choose one or the other, and you don't need to criticize someone that chooses a different path than you.

No hate here, I do it myself on occasion. I just think it's a terrible design decision to have high end loot drop from low level mobs, if Bungy are happy to have designed a system where this is happening then I guess it'll stay, but I fully expect that a some sort of change will happen.

I still spend most of my time with marks, but I've been capped for a few days. Still working on Crucible rank 2, but need to take a break every once and while and shooting stationary targets for 30 minutes or so calms me down after rounds of PVP.

I am trying to figure out if it scales the difficulty based on how many members are in the fire team. I was in a group Friday night and we couldn't beat it with the 3 of us. I alone had like 40 deaths. In my solo run I only died once.

Granted, I was much more strategic in running it solo so that may have affected it. I also used the exploit for the Summoning Pits where you camp in the entry room and shoot Phogoth and retreat to the previous room when enemies come at you.

I want to run my buddy through it that needs it for his exotic bounty. That is the only reason I even bothered trying it solo later. I am also better equipped than the first run which had to have an impact too.

Definitely scales. I was in a party of two running a daily 22 and we were practically walking through it. We got complacent and died. Moments after respawn, a third joined and holy hell it ramped up. Almost felt like the time I tried it at level 26.

They were all from my collected rare blue engrams, actually. Those are worth the most imo. they drop regularly and often turn into something decent, such as ascendant shards/energy, strange coins, motes of light, etc. And 3 times, they game me my legendary equipment.

All my collected legendary engrams gave me crap...not even strange coins or something like that. BUT...they do level up that cryptarch faster, if that does anything...

If it's simply part of their plan to tease out more content for the base experience in chunks rather than all of it at launch-- for example the Vault of Glass Raid wasn't available Day 1-- then it's not exactly cut from the game. If it turns out that some of those named locations will only unlock with the purchase of something additional e.g. DLC, then that would be some bullshit. Again, I don't believe that's the case, I just think that Bungie is phasing in a lot of that stuff gradually to lengthen the life of the title. If each week they keep bringing in one new thing (Vault of Glass last week, Queen's Wrath this week), then I'm down.

We've all seen the same DB (database) content you're looking at :) Some of those story mission names changed in the final version, but it's interesting to see what's in the cards for Destiny over the next few months. The Reef raid mention is probably the most interesting to me since it's an entirely new location. If you are super curious about locked areas in Old Russia (The Seraphim Vault, Jovian Complex, and King's Watch) I'd recommend finding videos on YT on how to glitch into them and take a look around.

Another thing that is curious is that the DB doesn't overtly make mention of the King's Watch (that I could see, though I wasn't paying close attention) but that place is packed with Lvl 20 Fallen from
the House of Kings
. Anyways, cool stuff to check out if you get tired of farming or getting rolled into First Light for the 50th time :)
Queens reef are just bounties. There is no reason to hold back story content because there just isnt any flow to the story right now. Actually there barely is a story. You can be all gullible and act like they are going to give out tons of free content bbt they only held back the raid bwcause you need to be lvl 26 to play it anyway.

Yeah, it doesn't really bother me too much, but I also don't binge on things-- games or otherwise-- to the point of getting sick of them. I also have a high tolerance for the grind as well it seems. My early years spent with Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy taught me well :)

If you can't get in before 26, then why "hold it back"? Not that many people were 26 last tuesday.

They held it back so that the half dozen groups focused on power leveling and planning on brute forcing it and being "first" could all start on a level playing field. It was an "event".

Just to get things straight, all signs point to those areas explicitly being tied to DLC.

The small magazine is annoying. 15 bullets = 5 shots. With the instant reload and stability upgrades maybe it gets better. I don't know.

I love the fact that everyone gives up on the Bad JuJu. I can't even find any videos of it in action with the instant-reload unlocked.

But I'm dedicated. I will get it upgraded and report back when I do so.

Where does this information come from? It's not on b.net.

Not sure, there's no sources in there, but they've got photos of the legendaries and the Queen's Emissary. I guess we'll find out for sure tomorrow if they are legit, but I can't imagine they'd go through all the trouble to make all of that up.

If you want to shit all over the game and people who play it, there are a dozen more threads here for you to play around in.

The Queen's Wrath description also talks about 'challenging mission modes'. Any word on what this means? I've only seen info on bounties.

Most likely the bounties will be like the Vanguard assassination bounties where you have to kill certain named characters inside missions/strikes. Except the targets will be inside new mission locations. That's my best guess anyways.

I hate that Bungie gets to decide what we can play and what not. Why cant I play Iron Banner right now? Because its an "event". They want you to feel like its new content when its actually already ib the game and they just have to turn the knob on.

Its the same thing with no custom games. Why cant K play a 3 vs 3 skirmish with my 6 player fireteam? Give me some options man wth?

we should be playing the christmas event right now

Well this is just utter bullcrap. I finally get in a raid group, we get to the last boss, and my connection craps out. Can't rejoin anything, and it looks like my spot has already been filled anyway.

Anyone up for doing the raid with me later tonight?

I quit leveling crucible, it takes ages. I got Vanguard to 2, and have capped marks since thursday or so. I need 8 more to buy a second piece from them. From then its full time New Monarchy. Leveling a faction goes faster, everything goes to it.

Events like Iron Banner are temporary because they're planned to give out new weapons and gear that will be exclusive to each specific instance of the event.

So people who earn the rewards during that first Iron Banner will be the only ones to ever have those items (as opposed to things like the Exotic Bounties which ensure that tons of people have Thorn/Bad Juju/Invective/etc..).

They want to make some events special to get people coming back instead of burning out. It's the McRib of video games...no complaints from me.
